  1. Oh no re the internet, I can't survive without being online hehehe. Is it true that you can't use it in your room? We are looking at getting the unlimited $99 package.

How disappointing regarding the theme nites I'm really looking forward to them. I have connected to a few people on my cruise and the seem like they are up for dressing up so that's cool.

Yeh glad it's not school holidays when we go!!! :)

  2. I just got back from the same cruise, (12 nights South Pacific) bought a lot of perfume on board only to find them at the same price back here......duty free ? I don't think so.

Hi there, what a shame about the prices. What other shopping was onboard?

How did you like the food? Were the theme parties fun?

Love to get your opinions :)

    Cheers

    Debbi :)

  3. Hate to say it, but I hope you aren't disappointed with P@O Jewel after Celebrity.

As long as you have downgraded your expectations you should be fine.

But the food, service and shows are nothing to the caliber of Celebrity. The ship is quite nice. The gatsby and White Party were fun.

    We won't sail P@O again.

Yeh we are a bit worried but I'm getting excited about the parties. Already got my back to skool costume nearly done, white half done and working on Gatsby [emoji3].

We decided it was either a cheap cruise or no holiday this year. So we decide to chance it. We have a cruise booked on the Solstice next Jan so we have that to look forward to[emoji6]

Will let you know how we go.

  4. Hi there

I am not sure about the pricing of internet packages on the Jewel. They are now available from $10 per day according to P&O's website but it is not very specific. I can remember seeing posters up about it early this month but being an "oldie" I wasn't very interested in them. I will be on the Eden in early March so will sus it out then.

For drinks packages go into P&O "Cruise Control" and "Plan your Trip" then "Packages - Available Packages". This will list all the different drinks packages. Unless you are a drinker some of them are very expensive. Be aware that some will cost more if you book them on board. They have recently expanded the selection.

The Theme Nights are very popular with some weird and wonderful get ups produced. I would say that Bianca (white nights) and Gatsby are the best because ladies can really get dressed up. They have headress making classes for Gatsby if you don't take your own and Charleston classes in the afternoon. Back to School is also a laugh. Even the children get into the spirit of things and the oldies. Everyone enjoys them.

Thanks for replying to my post on here and on the other thread :)

Glad I didn't ask you these questions on the other thread.

I would appreciate further info on the internet, I'm a little addicted, couldn't live for 10 days without it hehehe.

I will check out cruise control thanks :)

With the headband making classes - do you know what the cost is?

    Thanks again :)

  5. I've just returned from the New Year cruise on Pacific Jewel ex Melbourne. I believe mid February she then returns to Sydney for a while and we get the Eden which is what my next cruise is on. This was my fourth cruise on P Jewel.

Ask any questions you want. I like the Jewel, she is very logically laid out not like the Pacific Eden which is very boutique and fancy. However, I am a senior and do not bother with swimming pools and the like. I like a bit of tranquility and just enjoy being at sea. I am not a fan of the retractable roof on Aria and Eden although if you want to party on the top deck then I guess you would like this. On the Jewel if it rains or is rough then outdoor parties get moved inside.

Families seemed to be having a good time at New Year and there were many extended families on the voyage. Kids had a whale of a time. I believe we had around 510 children on board but they seemed to behave themselves and were no problem.

Ask whatever you like although other people might view things differently.

Thanks for your reply. Wow so many children, hope there wont be as many on our cruise....

I'm looking forward to the parties, they sound like a bit of fun.

How's the food? The pantry seems interesting and is it the waterfront?

    Thanks :)

  6. Hi all,

We have just booked our 1st P&O cruise. We are sailing on the Jewel(24/4).

We have only been on Celebrity before so we know things are going to be heaps different. We are used to having our perks repaid.

So with the internet package we had unlimited. I can't seem to find a package like that. Is there one?

What about drinks are the packages worth it? My friend doesn't drink alcohol so would we be able to get different packages?

Do people join in the theme nights? I think they sound like fun.

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Cheers

    Debbi

  7. This has been very entertaining and confusing. I'm trying to chose between the Sun and Golden.... Actually think (if all the little duckies line up - ie money, leave from work, cruise availability) leaning towards the Sun. Only my second cruise and first cruise was on Celebrity so I know it's gonna be a different ball game. Anyway nearly bedtime, thanks for the entertainment folks!!!

  8. Hi Debbie.

Just completed a 25 nighter on the golden in October/November. I am going to disagree with some of the other posters here on this thread. Although we thoroughly enjoyed our cruise we probably wouldnt sail on the golden again unless all the maintenance issues were addressed and the cruise director and entertainment lifted its game.

On a positive note the food and staff were good to excellent.

Have a great cruise which ever ship you choose to pick.

Thanks for that! (and thanks to everyone for their opinions).

I'm leaning towards the Sun because less people on board and it's about $500 cheaper for only 1 night less. The itinerary is great: Vanuatu and New Caledonia. But it all depends on my friend and which she prefers... Will decide one day hehehehe.

    Cheers

    Debbi :)

  9. Hi all,

There are two South Pacific cruises that I'm interested in as both itineraries sound amazing! I haven't sailed with Princess before and wanted to get some views on which ship is better between the Sun and the Golden. I have read the specs for both but always find getting an opinion from someone on here is always extremely helpful.

    Look forward to you thoughts.

    Cheers Debbi :)

  10. Cheers, either way Aussies will need plug convertors.:D

    Hey Mic

I know this is an old post but thought you'd be able to answer my question. Was looking at buying this power adapter on Kogan: Allocacoc PowerCube with 4 Outlets and 2 USB Ports 1.5mIs this the right wattage for the cabin: Input Voltage 110-240V?

Celebrity's site wont work and I don't want to buy it if I can't use it.

    Thanks heaps :)

    Cheers

    Deb :D

  11. Jayde, everyones cruise experience is different, please don't let some of our negativity, impose on you, one has to experience it for themselves, this was a good cruise, and remember we got this at bargain basement price.:)Also after meeting with a few princess reps, they have defiantly come to the party.

Thanks for your message. I will definitely still consider all options especially if they are cheap hehehe. I'm looking for a cheap cruise, preferably a sampler to take my mum on next year. I will keep on reading everyone's reviews and get more info. I can't wait till 2018 till the cruise Great Barrier Reef cruise that we have booked on the Solstice :)

  12. Appreciate, Debbi, this good question. Unfortunately, I do not know the definite answer, but I can offer a good "guess" and/or suggestion. My view? Ask!! Assuming that your cruise is not too short, I would talk with the Hot Glass staff, tell them your interests, etc. My experience has been that in many cases that the staff likes creative, special requests. See what's possible. Not sure on costs. But, give it a try. Good luck!!

    THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio
