  1. The nearest place to fly into Ravenna is Bologna about one hour away from Ravenna. There is a train to Ravenna from there. Our transport by car was over $400. However we like Bologna ( spent three nights there, and also spent time in Ravenna seeing the mosaic churches which were breathtaking.

  2. From experience with a friend who got Covid on board… the ships medical team will be there for you if you get Covid.. you will be isolated in your cabin and the medical staff will check on you at least daily and provide the onboard care they think you need. You will be asked to isolate for a minimum of 5-6 days. Food from the regular menus will provided and if you don’t already have it I believe you will get free internet.
after the isolation period if you test negative you will be released from isolation. I do not know what happens if you continue to test positive. If you have symptoms you will probably have to isolate longer. I do not know if they have paxlovoid on board.  We were able to get a prescription filled for it from our dr before we left. Fortunately we did not get it. Nor was the much evidence of others getting it.  Nothing was announced about it on our cruise. We were one of the few people wearing masks in public places the entire voyage.

  3. We just got off the Azamara Journey and we were in suite 6003. On normal days the anchor noise was loud but bearable. But when we were overnight in Monaco anchored they moved the anchor chain and it was awful. We complained and they gave us an empty cabin to sleep in midship.
the closets in that cabin are large but the rest of the storage was not great. No bedside reading lamps or USB ports. By the bed. The desk drawer was glued or nailed shut.
when we had motion one night it was not great. The bed is at an angle. Bonine worked but we would never book that suite again.

  4. Just off the Azamara Journey. No mention of Covid. We were one of the few wearing masks. We were very careful and had no issues. A few of the crew were in quarantine. No mention by the captain. We were told isolation would be in our cabin if we got it.

  5. My husband left his iPad in our stateroom on our last cruise. I was given a rccl number to call but that didn’t work. Then I called Azamara. After a total of one and a half hour on the phone I finally got this info from Azamara. I hope this could help others.

    From Azamara.

I was finally able to get ahold of someone and got some information for you regarding your husband’s lost iPad. I was not aware of this but for lost items there is actually a website where you can report the lost item and when they find it, they ship it to you. Below I have a link for the website and I started the process to see how this is done, and it’s quite eaSy. All you have to do is click “report lost item” at the top of the page, type “Azamara Club Cruises” as where you lost the item, and there’s a form on the next page where you put in your address, cruise information, and what the item is and they ship it to you. There is also an email where all lost items should be reported to, which I also have below. You will need your booking number, ship name and journey date. I hope this is helpful and if I can help with anything else, please let me know. I’m sorry it took so long and I appreciate your patience.

Really bad news. Just as a precaution I went and got tested this am.

    RESULTS.  I HAVE COVID!!
So I just got off phone attempting to cancel everything.
please let me know how the cruise goes

    Sheila

I feel your pain. We had to cancel the first of our back to back due to my getting Covid. Made the second one barely as despite a lite case I tested positive for two weeks!

Bit disappointed to hear that the Patio is only open for lunch.  We’ll be on Journey in a little over 2 weeks’ time and were hoping it would be open in the evenings for dinner.   Enjoy your cruise 😊

Thanks. Who knows what will happen in the next weeks. At least you don’t have a pre boarding Covid test.

  9. Currently on the journey. Embarkation was a breeze. No lines.. just walked right on. However we came early. At 1:45. Even though our boarding cards said 3:00 lol! But we had a suite so that might have helped. We were in our room by 2:15.
we did the video monitored abbots labs emed test btw. No issues with that. All they cared about was the date of the test. We printed out the results.
Very few( but us) wearing masks. Very naive for this minute imho. I’ve had Covid recently but my husband didn’t get it from me. And we don’t want to spend time in quarantine! According to our friend with Covid that is traveling on the ship back to back she has to stay in the cabin for at least 6 days and maybe till she tests negative??? ( took me 14 days. And I had a mild case!)

our suite 6003 is lovely. Nice steward and butler. They helped us sort out a few room issues. Like no drawer in the desk for makeup etc. they brought two extra side tables which helps a lot.
Had room service dinner and breakfast. Lunch at the patio which is only open for lunch.
will have dinner at windows tonight.. taste of China. food is good.
we had a very nice cruise critic meeting yesterday with 12 attendees. Drinks and canapés were served and the assistant cruise director came to welcome us. Very nice group of people.
the destination celebration is tonight. A Slovenian band in the cabaret lounge. We have decided not to go. Nor to the captains welcome party tomorrow, too many people without masks in a closed environment.
Gorgeous day in Koper, Slovenia. Warm but not too bad. Charming little seaside town.
let me know if you have questions!

  10. Our dr gave us a prescription but told us to check with medical personnel before using. We are oldish but have no reason to not take it. She just wanted it to be available if we needed it on the high seas. A friend just tested positive with symptoms and so far her dr hasn’t prescribed it as it is a relatively mild case.   Nasal spray is what she has been prescribed and cough syrup. Everyone is different.

I did also and never had any problems doing the test.

Going forward, I'd be ok with the removal of testing. It kills travel enjoyment when you can arrive in a port and be denied entry because you had close contact with someone testing positive.

But it's a case (in Europe at least) Azamara and all CL following the mandate that testing to board is a legal requirement. Our boarding last week, it was the Portuguese passport control officials checking the paperwork.... All of which to me seems to be a money making exercise for testing and hotel accomodation if your luck is out.

So until the EU lifts this, European cruises will remain to have a test. For departing the UK, I don't think it's needed... But suspect CL are choosing to make mandatory.

I don’t understand as Viking cruises a lot in Europe???

I suspect there are many passengers like me who would prefer to eat outdoors while Covid is still an issue.....so maybe that's why they made the change.

Very very true! We sure plan to do this!
