Try the sushi. It's located on the lido deck about halfway back
-
On my next cruise I skipped the prepay gratuity simply because I could pay off the cruise a little faster. I know I will be charged on the ship and can pay that later.
-
I pre-order wine mostly for the convenience of having a glass while I dress for dinner. I always get the riesling Funf, which I can only find on the carnival ships
-
I didn't know carrying ALL of your luggage onboard was even an option. I'm a light packer (carryon and a yoga bag) and can easily manage.
-
Am I the only one who doesn't like the steakhouse?
-
Coffee Bar? yes on the fifth deck
Favorite thing you ate? sushi on lido deck, flat iron steak in MDR
Favorite show or activity? casino!
What is something you wished you had packed? warmer clothes. I was on the first of January. The first night people had coats on to watch the dive in movie.
Any suggestions or ideas are greatly appreciated.
Although it is one of their older ships I loved it. Can't wait to get back on -
The only benefit I care for is the free water bottle.
When I get on a Carnival ship, I already know where everything is.
You can do your own laundry on Carnival
-
Dporter, have you ever had a wrap before? you are bound up in a cocoon. Some people may like that. I didn't.
Spa prices are on sale while you are in port. You can book online via carnival.com

If you take 3 classes, the class pass is worth it. Next trip I am definitely getting it and I am going to try the cycling class. Hopefully Aga will be there. She said she would.

"Were you left alone during the treatment?"
Never. Kat stayed with me the whole time except when I was getting undressed and dressed at the beginning and end
"Is the wrap over your entire body? If not, what is wrapped?"
entire body from the neck down
"Is the massage full body or half? If half body, what do they consider as half?"
I choose the half body massage. My back and shoulders were massaged. it was divine.
"Is the massage done while your wrapped up?"
no, they wrap you, then you shower and then massage.
"Why would the therapist ask you to be vague unless they did not complete the service correctly?"
I have no idea. I just complied with her wishes. Maybe different technicians do it differently
"I am a spa lover but I feel the descriptions given online are lacking and don't paint a whole picture."
I agree which is why I wanted to do a review of this service.

Naked? I was given the option of being completely naked. I was given a pair of paper pants to wear during the treatment.

This will be our first time sailing on Carnival. We have 12 family members traveling together(8 adults, 4 teens) How do you get notified of your boarding time?
Thanks for your responses. Have a great day.
You will choose your boarding time when you do your online check in.
I always sail out of Galveston and they are strict about boarding time. You can board later but they will not let you in earlier.
My preferred boarding time is 1:30 to 2. It's less crowded and the rooms are ready by then. So when I get on I can go straight to my cabin and change.

I just got off the Valor from a 4 day cruise. The menu posted by Firemanbobswife is identical to what we were served on formal night. I recommend the scallops and the prime rib.
IMHO
skip the sauce on the prime rib or ask for it on the side.
PS I wore a dress and heels to formal but I like to dress up. Most ladies were in leggings and a nice top/

I was going to write a review of this treatment but that was not met with encouragement. The therapist asked me to be vague. so here goes:
This treatment combines the best of both worlds, detox and relaxation. The day after my treatment I was amazed by how flat my stomach was.
I was wrapped up twice, then the massage. I discovered that wraps are not for me. Nothing is wrong with this service. I just don't like being bound up. It made me feel helpless and nervous. The therapist was very accommodating and unwrapped me.
Next trip I am sticking to the massages. Bamboo massage is my favorite

Thanks for posting! I am heading out on the Valor on Jan 13! Just curious... the classes that don't have a $ sign are free right?
Sent from my iPad using Forums
Correct. the stretch and abs are free.
All other classes are $12 each but you can ask about a class pass. You can take unlimited classes for one low fee.

Just got off the Valor yesterday and I must say I wasdelighted by the ship. I am working on my review and will post it later.
The Valor does have fitness classes but they are not listedon the Fun Times Schedule. You have to go up to the gym and pick one up. I amposting the schedule from my four day cruise below.
While you are in the gym, please say hello to my sweet gentleAga, the fitness instructor. She has awonderful heart. She said she was “allabout fitness and if you are healthy on the inside it shows on the outside”
I hope you can read my attachment.

I just got on the valor with both baby chams. To be honest they weren't looking very hard. I think they missed the second bottle.
Now I am about to sample the sushi
-
I've seen lots of folks with one on my cruises. I've never used one myself. I hope you will be careful and practice using it before your cruise.
Hope you feel better soon.
-
I am leaving out of Galveston tomorrow and I have packed two baby chams in my carry- on. I will let you know how it goes.
-
Lucky you.
-
I always leave out of Galveston. If you get there early you will have to wait outside until your prescribed boarding time.
-
I don't know the earliest time, but we have dropped our bags off at 9:00 and then went shopping.
Great idea!
:)

Our packing ritual usually involves shoving in a suitcase whatever we can find about an hour prior to leaving for the cruise. [emoji23]

Coffee service on lido deck on the Valor
in Carnival Cruise Lines
Posted
Just wanted to let you know that at the back of the lido buffet you can find proper coffee. That way you don't have to go down to deck 5 to the Java shop. You can get your cappuccino fix after you go through the buffet
