  1. Hi,

I love to be in the open air - but have a lounger in the shade while seeing the water....

On Voyager- and Freedom-class ships I can have shade in the solarium in a lot of places by the windows on the side of the solarium that are sheltered by the deck above.

I am going on Harmony and wonder if on Oasis-class ships there is also a shaded place inside the solarium where you can see the water just like on V- and F- class ships?

    Thank you for your input!:)

  2. I just returned from rhapsody in Venice. Last call to exit ship was 9:30. However, our table mates arranged a "stay awhile" package - they paid a fee to stay onboard until 3:30 since they had a late flight. Not sure if you can prorate it.

I would be very interested in that.....do you know how that is arranged?

    How much is it?

  3. We loved Royal Palms Beach Club, taxi cost was $4 pp one way, beach access is $2 pp, we loved having a cabana and we would definitely go back again.

We thought Royal Palms was horrible!

    Overcrowded and way too LOUD!:(

    Blasting music everywhere....

You can find many spots on the beach where it is quiet and not that crowded...

  4. We have two questions that we don't recall ever seeing addressed on these boards. Possibly they have been, but we did not find it in doing a search on our own.

    1. If ordering room service during breakfast hours, are you limited to only breakfast items? Much of their room service breakfast food we don't care for and would rather have a sandwich for breakfast. Is it possible? And if so, could we just write that on our breakfast door hanger the night before?

    2. If choosing to carry off our own luggage on disembarkation day, are we limited to only certain times? Usually self assist is called first, meaning you have to get up with the chickens. We're not early morning people and would prefer to disembark later if that's possible.

We'd appreciate hearing from anyone "in the know" about these two areas. Thank you!

You can only order breakfast items between 6am and 11am - they do not make sandwiches etc. before 11am - they will refuse your order.

We tried that many times but their galley is not set up to do anything other than breakfast in the morning....

  5. I just spoke to RC Customer Service (they haven't replied to my email in 48+ hours), and the reason why you can't see Chef's Table as an option any longer is that it's totally sold out for the cruise. PHEW! Birthday dinner ON!

Yeah sure....that was also why my cruise did not show up for weeks before they cancelled it ....

They just make up stories to get you off their phone!

  6. I'm curious about this as well. If true, then I'm booking through the uk site from now on!

You would have to be a citizen of the EU as well to benefit from the different rules as you can not enforce them when you do not have EU citizenship.

Brilliance of the Seas 6 June sailing 2017 disappeared from sale over 7 weeks ago. Various calls and emails have either gone unanswered or excuses been given (to those on the roll call) until today when a member was advised that the 12 day cruise would now be an 8 day cruise.

RC are now showing an 8 day Western Med cruise in place of the 12 day Eastern Med cruise and just a little digging around shows the following charter on sale for what would have been the final four days http://www.shipsomnia.com/experience/

And all this before any guests have been informed. Don't RC care at all about customer service

I have been in the very same situation just recently and it does take RCI a very long time to inform you - but I was able to get a good solution for the problem with them.

You will have to work a little with them but in the end all is fine for me - very contrary to the advice that was shared before on this board.

You also want to contact EU consumer rights - as RCI is in a very different situation in the EU as they are in the US where all offers are goodwill - not so in the EU!

My lawyer was even telling me I could sue them even so I booked under US rules because citizenship pre vales....but fortunately that was not necessary as they offered a good solution.

Good luck hope it works out for you as well!

  7. May I suggest that you actually read the thread before posting. This has nothing to do with knowing who is on a flight or a cruise. This is about a 12 day cruise which was booked in good faith and has now been changed to an 8 day cruise with different ports and whereby the latter 4 days have been chartered to an exclusive group. Hardly the same scenario you are describing.

As you booked in the UK you are protected by EU law......if you are not satisfied with the alternative - they owe you 150% of the fare you paid + any pricedifference to your new cruise on a different line....

So booking in the EU does have big advantages too!:D

  8. A lot off people here claim that cash tips would have to be pooled too - I seriously doubt that!

Just think about the logistics and the bookkeeping necessary to determine what and if the cash needs to be pooled or not!

Who would and can check all the parameters necessary for thousands of cabins just to find out whether the cash needs to be pooled or not....

So I think a cash tip to the people that give very good service is the way to go!

  9. If your itinerary includes Roatan, I recommend the Anthony's Key dolphin experience. It is offered thru' the ship. And those dolphins are not caged, as they are at Cozumel. Much more dolphin-friendly than other dolphin excursions all over the Caribbean.

They are just as caged as in Cozumel - they swim 50 to 100 miles a day in nature they hunt and life freely - just because the cage is a little bigger does not mean the are happier!

But the main point on to oft that is:

They are not made to be touched!

They get fungus on their skin from the humans that touch them - every touch of a hand is a pain to their skin!

So when you swim with them - you are causing them pain - you are just too stupid to realize this - as they can not show it to you in a way that humans would understand!

  10. The problem is people just do not care - their fun is all that counts!

They worry about tipping the staff but then they go out and and torture these mammals:(

Don't you wonder why these dolphin places are only in the poorer part of the world and not where there are high animal-protection standards?
