  1. My husband and I both have iPhones. On our last cruise in September, we were able to use wifi calling to make and receive calls while still in airplane mode.  A crew member in the Internet cafe set it up for us and it worked great. Was able to call the pet sitter at home as well as other family members traveling with us onboard the ship.

  2. I've always been able to order gluten-free pizza at both Alfredo's and at Slice.  They make you a personal-sized gluten-free pizza with your choice of toppings at both locations.  At Slice, GF pizzas are cooked in a pan to avoid cross-contamination, and cook time runs about 15-20 minutes.

  3. I've had this problem in the past as well.  What worked for me was adjusting the printing scale slightly.  In the dialogue box that pops up when you go to print the document, select "more settings," then "scale," then "custom."  Then you'll have to play around with the scale numbers slightly.  I think I scaled it down somewhere between 90 and 99 percent, and I was able to then get the entire luggage tag to print on one page.  Hope this helps!

  4. In Dine My Way, choose "View or Book Individual Daily Reservations," then choose the green "+Add Reservation."  On the "You might be double-booking" screen, select "Okay."  On the next page, select "Specialty Dining."  You should be able to make a reservation from this point.

For some reason, choosing "Explore Dining Options" on the first page always seems to result in the "Please check back closer to your journey date to use this feature" no matter how close you are to sailing.  Hope this is helpful🙂

These are the ones I have, love the retractable cord and the bling.  I attach mine to the side of my purse or bra or bathing suit strap.  Available in both AMAZON Canada and US.

I have these too. I clip them to the strap of the small purse I always carry on board.  They have held up beautifully through multiple cruises.  Love them!

  6. We sailed on the Ruby Princess the week after Cruise Raider, and we were in cabin E624, just a couple of doors down from Cruise Raider’s noisy cabin, and also under the Crown Grill kitchen area. I can personally attest to the noise in the middle of the night. Sounds like they are pouring hundreds and hundreds of empty cans into metal bins. I was so grateful that Cruise Raider had mentioned the noise in their post. We went prepared with a large package of ear plugs, just in case we heard the same noise.

We were in E630 and were moved to E318, which seems to be worlds better so far.
I would steer very clear from E630 on future cruise on this class of ships.
And ,,. thank you so much!

Thank you so much for this information on the noisy cabin. We board the Ruby on Sept 7 and are in cabin E624, just three doors down from that noisy cabin and still under the Crown Grill kitchen. I am now packing earplugs. Lots and lots of earplugs. 😂

  8. If memory serves me correctly, they do not have gluten-free items available at afternoon tea unless they are given notice the day before.  I usually let the head waiter in the MDR know the night before I know I want to attend afternoon tea. In my experience, they provide a couple of gf sandwiches and maybe one type of gf sweet. They do not make gf versions of all the different pastries and goodies that are served to everyone else. That said, it’s been several years, a pandemic and a restart since I’ve had afternoon tea aboard a Princess ship, so things could be different now. 🙃

  9. Hello all.

My daughter and her husband are currently honeymooning aboard the Majestic Princess on a California coastal cruise.  My daughter is an experienced cruiser with Princess and has experienced many wonderful cruises aboard several of the Princess ships.  She has been absolutely shocked on this cruise to see the changes in the quality and quantity of the food being served.  The meals they have been served in the main dining room so far have been super tiny and flavorless, and many times overcooked.  More than three-quarters of the plate is empty with a very small portion of food stacked in the center.  She was served a shrimp cocktail appetizer that contained three small shrimp and a drizzle of cocktail sauce.  The portions they are being served are not even half the size of the portions that were served aboard the Princess ships pre-Covid.  And the flavor and quality just aren't there.  I realize that we are still dealing with the pandemic and there are probably supply chain issues at work and that Princess has probably needed to make cutbacks in order to keep operating.  I am just curious if this is the new normal across all Princess ships or if this is something happening aboard the Majestic only?  I haven't seen any other posts on the boards with people complaining about the food, so maybe this is a one-off?

  10. We used J Joiner Tours and they were fantastic! They were able to customize a tour just for our family. We had a boat ride down the Torteguero canals, visited the sloth sanctuary and went zip lining. Also had an authentic Costa Rican lunch that was superb. And we paid a fraction of the cost that Princess was charging for their excursions, none of which included all the things we did that day in one package. We had JJ himself as our tour guide that day and he was an amazing guide. Highly recommend him and his company.

  11. My daughter and I will be sailing on the Island Princess on June 28. I was wondering if there's anyone out there who has sailed on the Island Princess this year on its southbound Whittier to Vancouver Alaska itinerary who could tell me which night of the cruise the second formal night will be. I know traditionally the formal nights fall on day two and six on a seven-day cruise; however, our day six port is in Ketchikan with a 5:45 departure. Day five port is Juneau with a 4:00 departure. Have they moved the second formal night to day five Juneau because of the earlier departure or is it still on day six? I'd like to make an advanced reservation for Sabatini's for the second formal night so that my daughter and I can go to dinner in smart casual clothes instead of dressing up a second time. (We're hoping to save a little room in the luggage since we'll be packing bulkier, warmer clothes for this cruise;)) If anyone has sailed this itinerary this year, I'd love to hear from you. Thanks so much for any help you can give me!:)

  12. I have sailed on the Grand Princess twice in the last year and had 5:30 traditional dining on both cruises. 5:30 traditional dining is in the Botticelli dining room, deck 6 aft. There are windows along the right and left sides of this dining room but no windows on the back wall of this dining room. We were seated against the back wall on both cruises, so I'm absolutely sure of this. And 5:30 dining really was at 5:30. They did not do a bait-and-switch on the dining time on either cruise for 5:30 traditional dining. Can't speak to what happened to the 6:00 group.

Hope you have a wonderful time on your cruise!
