  1. As has been said, just take some empty water bottles and keep them full. If you don't like the taste of the water out of the tap you can get filtered water on the lido deck or just bring a water bottle with a built in Brita filter.

    Ditto.

  2. Do not miss Food Republic. You can visit there for lunch on sea days, if it doesn't fit in your dinner schedule. Also don't miss the late night live music/fun in The District Brewhouse. It's a great alternative to Howl at The Moon, which is also not to miss.

Also, late night (or daytime) don't miss Clarence (The Chocolate Cowboy) mixing drinks outside on the waterfront at the 5 O'Clock Somewhere bar. He's one of the best bartenders at sea. (I hope he's still there!)

This ship has way too much going on late night! I've been on her 17 nights, and that's not nearly enough. Have fun!

  3. The talent in After Midnight is light years better than the talent in The Brat Pack show; however, the Brat Pack show seems to appeal to more people. I was a teen in the 80's and I loved the memories the Brat Pack show evoked. I also loved After Midnight, and would highly recommend it if you enjoy the artistic aspects of song and dance, or if you enjoy the music from the Cotton Club era.

I liked Million Dollar Quartet the best of all, and it sucks that it's no longer on Escape, but awesome for Getaway cruisers.

    Ditto.

  4. I never saw any strict time limit imposed. In my experience in the Haven, both my wife and I had UBP, and my father in law stayed with us as well and didn't.

At any meal or at any bar I just led with my card and my father in law never had to present his card and at all and drank for free pretty well the whole trip. He didn't abuse it all, and we were ready to pay for his drinks, just was never asked.

I would expect it to work out in similar fashion. And with the promotions being offered in the Haven, if your daughters always did the ordering I doubt it would matter.

    Deceitful.

  5. To all the "nickel and dimers" out there:

Just looked at my invoice for future 7-night cruise. It lists $223.92 for service charges for UBP and 3-night dining plan.

Consider the UBP: I would never buy it outright since neither of us drink enough to warrant it. That said, we would probably have at least a glass of wine at dinner each night and more than likely have at least one mixed drink or beer each day. If you were buying drinks outright, at that rate, assuming $12.00 per drink plus service charge, you would spend about $400.00

Consider the dining plan: We would probably eat in at least three specialties

even without the dining plan. At an average of $30.00 per person with service charge you would spend a little over $200.00

By my math I am coming out ahead by paying $224.00

With regard to the $7.95 room service fee, I don't consider it an issue.

If I want juice and coffee in the morning, I don't pay it. If I want a cooked to order hot breakfast, I pay it. Someone has to take the order, someone has to cook it and someone has to deliver it in an expedient manner.

As much as anything, the delivery fee is an aversion thing. Maybe someone will think twice about ordering room service if it is extra. I have seen too many trays with half eaten food sitting in the hallways. Same goes for pizza.

Can you imagine how many pizzas would be ordered if they were free.

Pictures, bingo, scratch offs and whatever may be nice to have but do you really need them to have a nice cruise.

You cannot be "nickel and dimed" if you don't want to be.

    Excellent.

  6. First cruise ever on 5/1/16, DW has cruised before. This is the first NCL cruise for us and both of our first cruise with 2 daughters 12 and 15.

My DW and I have the Ultimate Drink Package promotion. Am I misreading the fact that my wife and I can just walk up and get soft drinks for my kids and then just go somewhere else a couple minutes later and get ourselves a couple cocktails? Thanks in advance

    Dishonest.

  7. I've often found it interesting when my muster station is in a dining room that there are dishes set on the tables - plates, silverware, glasses, etc. I wouldn't want to show up for dinner right after that when strangers have been fingering my utensils. Why do the ships do this? Isn't that a lot of dishes that need to be cleared off tables and washed before dinner service, or do they just leave them all sitting there?

    Nasty.
