  1. I meant no disrespect of rudeness. I guess I just didn't see the post as being negative or snarky. But that was just my interpretation. I do know that when we parked at the terminal the last time we cruised, we paid $120 in the garage. I was under the impression that the cost of $140 for the week was for the garage. We didn't even know about the uncovered parking. But, having said that, it was 4 years ago and things may have changed. Happy cruising!

  2. I don't think so and I've already made reservations. I'm not paying 24 dollars a day and would prefer a guaranteed covered parking.

I've only commented on a few threads and I'm very surprised at how rude most of the members are. I can easily see how cruisers get such a bad name.

Then again boards always have their trolls. . .

Mrs.Judy... I don't think it was the intent of the person to be rude. I think she/he was just stating that it may be less stress and headache to just park at the terminal. If you are paying $105 at Government Center...then cabbing/ubering it to the terminal, the savings may be minimal, if any. Hope you have an amazing cruise! We are on the June 9 Boston/Bermuda cruise.

  3. We paid $49 pp/pd for the beverage package on RCI last June. With the 18% gratuity charged to it it came out to $57.82 pd. It was a 9 night cruise. Came out to $520 pp for 9 days, vs $652 pp for 7 days on NCL. This package included beer, wine, mixed drinks (including frozen drinks) and bottled water. We took full advantage of the bev plan.

I'm glad it is one of the perks on NCL. Is the cost of the UBP rolled into the price of the cruise? Of course it is. But it's nice to not have to mull over "is it worth it or not" when deciding if we should purchase a package on board. I don't think we would buy it if it were not a perk. We are sailing with friends who chose the 3rd passenger free perk. They have an inside cabin. They probably aren't going to purchase the UBP on board because the cost is prohibitive. But now they will be watching their on board account on a daily basis. (their son is 19 and will be able to drink on board).

  4. What promotion was that? Was it because you got a low fare or because you already got a stateroom upgrade?

Because we got a low fare. We originally booked an inside, but decided to pay the difference and get an OV. We didn't "get" an upgrade. We basically canceled and rebooked the OV at a higher rate...but it was about $400 less then if we had booked through NCL directly.

  5. Poohbear is sailing in the jade. As far as I'm aware the jade is not on the bid program yet. So unfortunately, his or her input is not helpful for us here.

It's now a moot point...I called back and spoke to another very nice woman. She checked to see if my TA opted in to the upgrade program....they had...but I'm still not eligible for the bidding process because of the promotion that was used to book my cruise. Disappointed, but we did get a really good price on our OV stateroom. Would have liked to at least have had a shot at winning a bid for a balcony. Not going to complain. We will have an amazing time regardless.

  6. We are booked on the dawn for the Dec 17th sailing so any info will be helpful as first time on the Dawn and out of San Juan. Any recommendations on places to stay will be a help.

We stayed at the El San Juan Hotel & Casino twice when we cruised out of Puerto Rico. Loved it both times. Friends stayed at the Sheraton in Old San Juan, which was very convenient to the port.

  7. It was $250 pp, but we only paid $750 pp for the obstructed oceanview, so it made sense to go with it. We are sailing April 9 on the Jade to the Western Caribbean. So excited we can hardly wait! I am traveling with my niece who has never cruised before, and she does not know I have upgraded our cabin. It will be so fun to see her surprise!

Sorry for the 20 questions....but when did you call the upsell department? Obviously April 9 is more then 2 weeks out (barely I know). Just curious... Thanks!

  8. Yes, you should call the upsell number. I did, and they upsold me from an obstructed oceanview to a MA mid ship mini suite for $250. Have nothing to lose by calling. I hear stories how the upsell office is so rude, but the two women I talked to were extremely nice.

Woman I spoke to was very nice....was that $250 pp or total? When are you sailing and on what ship? Thanks for info!

  9. I would call. Maybe they can generate an email to direct you to the bidding page - it looks like the bidding is being handled by a third party. No one has the banner right now and not everyone gets an email. Like others have said the banner just disappeared for everyone around last week. The only way I'm aware of to get to the bid page is via the email or if you had the banner and already bid you have a confirmation email on your bid with a link to go change your bid or bid on other rooms.

Thanks....think I should call the upsell number?

  10. Initially, a limited number of ships were on the automated bids. Most of the smaller ships are still on the old "call the upsells desk 2 weeks before cruise" system. We are on the Breakaway to Bermuda and got the MyNCL banner exactly on day 80.

Thanks for the replies. I had read on other threads that the Dawn was participating in the new automated bids. Have also read the banner was on some folks MyNCL then disappeared. I'll just bide my time. May call and see what the deal is if I don't receive the banner in a few days.
