  1. I am not certain where I saw this, but 80 days prior to your sailing is when the offer pops up if your ship is on that program. Not all ships are on the bidding yet; some you have to call the upsell 800# still.

We got ours exactly at 80 days to departure. :) Crossing fingers for you. We are on the Breakaway May 28.

Did you bid on an upgrade and did you get it? We have always had a balcony stateroom. Prices were so high for the Boston/Bermuda cruise (a balcony stateroom almost doubled in price from 3 years ago) that we booked an ocean view for this cruise. Would love to be able to upgrade to a balcony...

  2. I've only been on 4 cruises (2 more booked, 1 in June and 1 in Feb 2018, both on NCL) I may have preferred one cruise line over the other, but I LOVED all 4. Last one was June of 2017, 9 night Mediterranean cruise out of Rome. It there was an adjective better then perfect, I would use that to describe it.

  3. From what I've been reading on these boards, the Dawn still uses the upsell phone number as opposed to the online bidding system. I'm wondering if I will receive an email since we booked through a TA. I asked him if they took part in that through NCL and he said yes, but has only seen a handful of emails. Thinking I may call the upsell number around 60 days out. If we could get a balcony for $150 pp, I would do it in a heartbeat. 93 days out at the moment....

  4. My first cruise was in 2001. We had a balcony stateroom and it cost roughly $1,000 pp. We aren't huge drinkers. I think our total bill at the conclusion of the trip was less then $300. They did not add gratuities to your account back then. We paid them what was recommended at the time. 16 years later, we are paying $2,500 for an ocean view cabin on the Dawn in June. We have, as perks, the UBP and prepaid gratuities....Would prefer balcony, hoping for an upsell. Have a cruise booked on the Epic next February, also for about $2,500 total, balcony deck 12 and have the UBD & SPD. But the long and the short of it is, we are getting more bang for our buck 16 years after our first cruise. I always have coffee and pastries delivered to our stateroom free of charge. I really enjoy lobster, but living on the east coast, I can get it whenever I choose, so I don't miss it on the cruise. I would not pay $24.99 as an upcharge for a lobster tail. So, I'm happy paying what we are paying and getting what we are getting!

  5. This question may have been asked, but I can't seem to find it. We are sailing on the Dawn on 6/9 to Bermuda. We booked an ocean view cabin on deck 5. If an upsell is available, to a balcony for instance, will I loose my UBP & pre-paid gratuities perk? I know the pre-paid gratuities isn't offered as one of the free at sea perks anymore. So, I'm thinking I may loose that. Don't think it would be worth it if we lost both. Thanks!

  6. On my past 4 cruises we've always had coffee and croissants delivered to our balcony in the morning. (4 different cruise lines, with NCL being one of them). It was complimentary. We are cruising on the Epic next February. Is this service still complimentary or is there a room service charge?

  7. Question... we booked our cruise on Feb 5 for next Feb 3. So 1 year out. Will we no longer receive the extra 7 points for booking outside of 9 months? I'm only a measly Bronze member.. would have been silver after our June cruise..then they changed.

  8. Wow!!!! Who did you book through..... we are cruising on the Dawn in June and Epic next February... and we got 2 "free at sea". UBP & gratuities on the June cruise and UBP & SDP on the February cruise(gratuities weren't offered on this cruise). That sounds like a lot of freebies! Good for you! enjoy!

  9. We flew in to Orlando the day before our cruise and stayed at one of the airport hotels with free airport shuttle (actually the Hilton Garden Inn). Then took the shuttle back to the airport in the morning and caught an NCL transfer to the port. There several different shuttle services. We chose NCL because they use full size motor coaches and handle your bags at the port (once you give them to the bus driver at the airport, they are delivered directly to your stateroom). The smaller shuttles cram you into vans and you're stuck in someone's arm pit for the 1 hour drive out to the port.

This sounds great too....Does NCL charge $75 pp/each way for the shuttle? What time did you get back to the airport? Did you specify a certain time for the shuttle to pick you up?

    Thanks!

  10. Thanks for all the great tips! Snowing here too....We find flying out of TF Green is cheaper then flying out of Logan, with the exception here & there.

I know its a year out....and we do have Boston/Bermuda on the Dawn in June....but sitting here watching the snow actually gets me excited knowing we will be in the sun and having fun for at least a week in February next year! :)
