That makes me sad 😞 Quite honestly the show is great, but the food is average and the meal takes a long time since everyone at all tables is sync'd together.   The menu is a set one with limited options.  You can try though and see what they say.

I don't even think she'll miss it if she doesn't know it's an option.  This is a freebie cruise for her since Mom and I are paying for it.  We are ok with the main dining room for our dinner meals. 🙂  Appreciate your input though.

In 2022 we went to the Maitre D' on day 1 when reservation was several days in advance.  They accomodated us but it felt like we were imposing on them and best we could get was a maybe.  Huge sigh from the guy, not a friendly response.    Went there night before to confirm and different guy was at podium.  He acknowledged the request from day 1 and stated we would be accomodated in a friendly manner.

What you have pointed out above is how I don't want her to feel on her very first cruise so I may just scratch my idea.

I have done this as with both Gluten and Lactose allergies.  We let them know when booking that I had the restrictions so they were prepared.
Dessert I was offered sorbet and fruit.  The sauces were slightly different with the other courses that I picked but on the whole I had things very similar to my husband's meal or others.

Thank you.  My sister has so many food restrictions I'm now thinking we do this restaurant when she isn't with us.  It may just be too much for a set menu.

  4. I would love to try Le Petit Chef on our upcoming cruise.

It's a girls trip (Mom and two daughters).  My sister has never been on a cruise and we are taking her for her 50th to Alaska.  However, she has dietary restrictions ~ gluten free, no garlic/onions, lactose free plus other restrictions.  Has anyone done this specialty restaurant with dietary restrictions and if so, how did it go?

It would be nice to do this on her birthday but I also don't want her to have any GI issues that could be avoided by sticking to the main dining room.  I will be reaching out to the Special Needs department so they have her information on file.

Well,....Princess has never officially confirmed nor denied the existence of such a thing lol. It's only been in the leaked plans.

I think it would've made sense to put the suites dining back there as well, but it can't be with the Signature downstairs. It could still be a separate suites-only venue we don't know about yet (something akin to the 360 venue but on a grander scale), but we'll see.

I thought maybe behind the "black door" you see in some of the videos, that would be where the 360 venue is hiding. 🤷‍♀️

  6. Great information.  As I have plenty of time before sail date (October '24), I will definitely be filing through some of the hotel threads.  A friend of my is going to be staying at Margaritaville in Hollywood Beach soon and she's going to let me know what she thinks of it as an option for us.

As we plan to fly into Miami a couple of days before sailing, our options are open as to where to stay.

Hi all.  DH now needs to eat low sodium due to having a double bypass.   There is no place to specify this on the medallion app for our cruise in February.  How do we notify them of this restriction?  Has anyone eaten in the specialty restaurants, like crown grill, with dietary restrictions?  Do you notify them in advance.  Thank you, this is all new to us!

If eating in the main dining room, on the first night let your waiters know you have a food restriction.  First not is always the most difficult so you really have to make the choices yourself as they won't have anything prepped.  You can then ask to speak with a head waiter about the dietary restriction.  He will visit your table each night at the end of your meal and bring you the menu for the next night where you can choose your meal which will be prepped low/no sodium.

On our last cruise pre-covid, I had the best head waiter and he made sure to come.  If you do plan on eating in the Crown Grill, you can visit the night before and let them know you will be there the next night.  They will put a note on your reservation and do their best.  No fancy salts with the steak.

Will I be able to book multiple cruises, back to back?

Yes, we will offer back-to-back bookings, subject to availability. Guests ages 5 and above on such sailings will need to take a complimentary rapid antigen test within two days of the second cruise if the that sailing includes a trans-ocean voyage or full Panama Canal transit and the itinerary is 10 days or more.

Guests who test positive for COVID-19 will not be able to sail on the next voyage, nor will their family members and close contacts who are not fully vaccinated. If you, your family members, travel companions or other close contacts are suspected of having COVID-19, you are entitled to a 100% Future Cruise Credit (FCC).

We will closely monitor guidance from government and health authorities and will adapt and evolve this policy accordingly.

Thank you but still doesn't really answer my question.

  9. I did a search and didn't come up with my answer.

We are booked for a B2B in October.  Does Princess conduct a C-test at the end of the first cruise to ensure you are negative for the next or do you have to find your own test between the two sailings?  I think I read they conduct but just want to make sure I have the correct information since it is still such a fluid situation and we haven't sailed since 2019.

You are correct and I know this.  Perhaps I took @Tweedy's post too literally when they mentioned "credits", thinking them to be dining credits.  Most certainly, it has to be a SD credit/promo that the guest has in order to use it to pay for a SD reservation.

Appreciate the response.  I did mean OBC and not dining credits so you did answer my question, or at least I thought I knew what you meant 😄

We will also be receiving two of these for an upcoming cruise.  However, we don't drink wine.  Does anyone know if they can be traded out for something else once we get onboard?  We would gladly trade for coffee cards, mini bar setup, even a couple of cocktails at one of the bars or a plate of chocolate strawberries.  They really are of no use to us.

My travel agent said he inquired with Princess and they told him that they could not be traded out for anything, but I know the answer could be different once we get on board, so just wondering if anyone else has tried.

We are in the same predicament.  Neither of us drink wine and we've received 2 complimentary bottles for an upcoming cruise.  I read somewhere, can't remember if it was here or on FB that if you go to customer service, you can ask for it to be traded.  Whether it will work, I'll have to wait until September to find out. 🙂

Same goes for travelers who are sick.  Remember when we had to fill out those health forms before boarding the ship?  No one filled them out truthfully.  You've planned for months, maybe years to go on a cruise.  You waited, paid out the money and the time is here for you to board.  No way are you going to say "I'm sick."  I was healthy when I went on board, and I got off the ship sick on the Star Princess to Hawaii.  I was laid out for a month!  You get in line and take your chances.  The woman in the cabin next to us never left her cabin the 14 days on our cruise.  She hacked/coughed/barfed.  Did the cabin steward transfer her crud to our cabin?  Only time I left the can of Lysol at home.  Got it packed for the next one....my bad.

We must have been on that same sick trip.  My boss, at the time, was also travelling on the sailing.  He ended up with noro and I ended up in hospital when we returned.  It was a horrible trip and those health form questionnaires were a joke.  As you said, who is going to truly answer them.  I feel for those quarantined on the Diamond at the moment, in partiucular those with inside cabins... no natural light and only 90 minutes of outdoor fresh air.  I get the concern of spreading the disease but they all must feel like they are in prison.  Sadly, it was bound to happen but hopefully for all future cruises, there will be lessons learned from this contagious outbreak.

  13. When we had a turnaround day in LA back in April, Princess offered a city tour that started and ended at the pier.  It went down sunset blvd, we had time at Grauman's, toured downtown.  It was a nice way to spend turnaround day.  Maybe your cruise offers something like this or they may have something to offer once onboard.
