  1. Continental Breakfast is delivered for free. We do this sometimes to get an early coffee and danish to have on the balcony. I call this my "pre-breakfast".
  2. Thanks footzz for the reply. That's a good explination. We were Oasis twice, Anthem and Adventure once and they are sailing at capacity so I guess they didn't need to push the specialty dinning as much. To bad as I would have done for Chef's Table especially if there was a discount offered.
  3. We have been on 4 cruises in the last year. On our last cruise we realized that since startup no one has been approaching us asking if we want to purchase any Specialty dining. This used to happen regularily usually while dining in the WJ during the first day or to. We don't do a lot of Specialty dinning but we have in the past purchased for the days we were bored with the MDR menu. We used to get some good offers and found we could usually negoiate a better price with some resturants. I assume this has gone by the way because of staffing levels. We were thinking about doing Chiefs Table on our last cruise and we did go to the MDR as instructed to purchase but the first day lines were hugh and we chose not to wait. I assume the days of the roving sales teams have gone by the wayside or is it still happening on some ships?
  4. Hello, We were on Oasis a couple of weeks ago. When we got on the ship we stopped by the main dinning room to verify our dining and noticed a large line of people booking their specialty dinning. I overheard a guest mention that they had been offered Chef's Table for $50 per person. Is this the best way to get a better price than the usual $100 that appears in the app?
  5. After you check in on the app the "health Questionnaire" appears the day before you sail. Have you checked in yet?
  6. Interesting. Since Harmony and Oasis are the same class it appears there are room combinations that have 2 connecting doors. In addition most have reported the connecting door is located near the room entrance. This was not the case in our room. Our connecting door was in the main living area between the closet and the bed which would make the sounds from the other cabin more apparent. It's starting to seem that the mention of "family connecting" is the case in that if the standard balcony room is connecting to a suite as was our case than the location of the connecting door and the number doors (one) is different than if the connection is between two standard OV or OVB rooms. Interesting. Something else to keep in mind when booking or considering an upgrade. Thanks for the replies.
  7. OP here. On Oasis our room had the bed near the balcony and we did not have a sofa. The head of the bed was at the wall with the door. We had a tub chair beside the bed and then the connecting door and then the closet. This to me seemed to open up the room a bit as there was additional wall space, if you count the door as wall space. The chair was comfortable. After reading the replies no one has reported having two doors between connecting rooms so I guess a single connecting door is the norm on Oasis class ships. Thanks.
  8. Hello, Just back from a cruise on Oasis. We won a room upgrade and were assigned an Ocean View Balcony. We noticed that our room was connected to a Grand Suite room beside us. We had never stayed in a connected room before but were happy to get a balcony room. We liked the room and I thought it had a little more space. As for noise we could easily hear our neighbors talking in normal tones, this is not something we had experienced in our usual non-connected rooms however they were good neighbors and it never became an issue but it high-lighted how much noise was coming through the connecting door. Our room steward said that there was only a single door between the 2 rooms so it was not surprising that we could hear them and I assume they could hear us. I just came across a post here on CC where it was mentioned that on some ships when a connecting room is connected to a suite than it's considered a family connected and only has 1 door, however if the connection is between two standard balcony or ocean view rooms then each room has a door which would reduce the noise somewhat. Can anyone confirm that this is in fact how it is setup on ships such as Oasis or Anthem? If that is generally the case it would make me think twice about booking a connecting room that connects to a suite room with a single door. Thanks
  9. Cats is the main production show in the theater. Aqua80 is the show in the Aqua theater. There was an additional show in the main theater which was a tribute to Whitney Houston which we had seen before.
  10. I get that but we have travelled with them in our RV's for years but they could never cruise with us because our work schedules never lined up. We retired this year and they will be next year so a cruise is in order. That being said what could go wrong? If they back out before final payment they lose their deposit which they paid for. They will make their owe final payment so if they cancel after that again it's their loss. But I know unless a health issue comes up they will be going.
  11. Yes - the deck plans show the connecting room with little arrows joining the two rooms.
  12. We were on Oasis last week which was her last cruise out of NJ for this season. We had a wonderful time. If anyone has any questions I'm happy to answer them. One interesting thing for us is that we had booked a guaranteed balcony and received a room overlooking Central Park. We've stayed in this type of room before and were happy when it was assigned. My wife put in a bid for an upgrade and 2 days before the cruise we were notified that our bid had been accepted and our new room was an ocean view balcony on deck 9. We were happy with this room as well however we also noticed that it was a connecting room. We have never stayed in a connecting room so I was a little concerned about noise coming through. When we got to the room it seemed to me that there was more usable space in it then in a non-connected room. In this room the bed was closest to the balcony. The sofa has been replaced with a single tub chair which was very comfortable. The remaining open space between the bed/chair to the closet included the connecting door. This really opened up the area in front of the closet which we liked. As for additional noise I think there was a little more noise coming through however our neighbors were good and at no time was noise a problem. One thing I found strange is that occasionally the handle on the connecting door would move because someone from next door was trying it. I think the neighbors had some kids who probably were doing this. I had assumed that there were 2 doors between each room like in some hotels I have stayed in so I also assumed that the door on the neighbor's side had been left unlocked allowing them access to the other side of our door. I mentioned this to our room steward and asked that he lock the door on the neighbor's side. He indicated that there were not two doors but just a single door between the rooms which explained why the handle is accessible from both sides. All in all we liked the connecting room for the additional space but with the wrong neighbor's I suspect that noise might be an issue especially if there is only a single door separating the rooms. We certainly enjoyed our ocean view balcony as the weather was great and we were out on our balcony enjoying the ocean view quite a bit so the upgrade was worth it.
  13. Thanks for the replies and suggestions. I phoned RC yesterday and changed the booking so that each person is in their correct rooms. The Diamond discount for our friends dropped off but there was a price drop anyway so the net increase for them was only $100.
  14. We have talked our good friends into cruising with us after they both retire next year. We are Diamond and they have never cruised before. We were just on Oasis and went to Next Cruise and asked if we could book a cruise for next year on Oasis and purchase 2 rooms and have our friends on the booking so that they could benefit from our balcony discount. They told us we could do this however they would need to set up the booking such that I would be in one room and my wife assigned to the other. Our friends were added to each room so that on the reservation my name and one of them is assigned to one room while my wife and the other friend is assigned to the second room. We were told that who was going to be in which room could be sorted out when we checked in at the pier. After doing this I realized that I had some questions but Next Cruise was very busy for the rest of the cruise so I thought I would ask here. First question - how will the Sea Pass cards work? When they move into their room one of them will not have the correct SP card, same with one of use. Is this something that can be corrected at check in or at Guest Services? Our friends what to purchase some excursions and possibly the DBP. My wife and I will use our Diamond drink coupons but if they want to purchase the DBP will there be a problem because they are not in the same room as shown on the reservation keeping in mind that each person in the room much purchase the DBP? The final question is how will they get their credit card tied to their purchases so they can purchase excursions? If we call RC will it be possible to get the room assignments changed and all this sorted out prior to the sailing? The Next Cruise people seemed to imply that this could not be sorted out till checkin or through a visit to Guest Services after getting on the ship. I'm happy our friends are coming but now I'm concerned that in an attempt to save them some $$ the cruise might end up being a little complicated and may require trips to Guest Services to straighten things out. I assume that others have done this so if someone could just let me know how it all sorted out I would appreciate it. Thanks.
  15. Boarding Oasis on Sunday and which will be stopping at PC, CC and Nassau. This will be our first cruise as D and also our first cruise without the DBP. Hoping to try some portside bars in order to save our coupons for the evenings on the ship. In PC we will probably go to Fish Lips as we have been there before and enjoyed it however if there is another one we should try please let us know. Mainly looking for recommendations for a bar in Nassau that is close to the pier for a couple of afternoon beers or some wine. Not always sure about going into some of these bars that I have seen in Nassau before aside from Senor Frogs. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  16. Thanks for the replies. I ended up working out my scheduling issue and will now be able to make this cruise. Looking forward to this one as it's going to several ports we haven't been to.
  17. Hello, We were to sail on Anthem out of NJ on January 2nd, 2023 on an 11 night cruise. Unfortunately, I made a mistake on my work schedule, and I just realized that I need to be back by January 10'th. My mistake. We are aware of the cancellation penalties for cancelling within 90 days but I'm wondering if it would help if we have another cruise selected that we can transfer to? I'm not looking for special treatment but if there is a better option then paying the penalty I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks
  18. We had 9500 on a cruise on Anthem in 2018 and loved it. The huge slanted window was wonderful. We did hit some rough water as we sailed down to Florida from Bayonne NJ but it didn't bother us. I think you will really enjoy that room.
  19. Always enjoy your live reviews. We will be on Oasis for the October 23 cruise in a few weeks so we can start our build up by following your review. Sailed on her last October and had a great cruise.
  20. Thanks Paross4. That is what I was looking for. I suspected it was not widely advertised as we were in there daily and missed hearing about it. We will definitely make a point of dropping by on the first day and reserve. I assume the price doesn't cover the wine cost?
  21. Last October we were on Oasis and we enjoyed stopping by the Vintages bar located off Central Park and having a glass of wine and a Tapas. Sort of a pre-dinner appetizer. One day when we tried to do this the bar was closed because they were setting up for a wine tasting event. The tables were beautifully set in preparation for this. When we asked about joining in (paying of course) the person indicated that the event sells out quickly so we would not be able to join in. We are going back on Oasis again in October and would like to do this event if it is offered. DW has been checking out the cruise planner and has looked at some sample Cruise Compass but can't find any info about this. Questions - does this event happen on every Oasis cruise? Does it ever show up in your cruise planner, the app or is it a book the first day directly at the bar kind of thing? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks
  22. Thanks for the replies including the suggestion to purchase the Refreshment pack so we don't use our D vouchers for OJ and bottled water. That being said I understand that the decision to purchase the DBP depends on how much one expects to drink, type of drink the price of the package itself. What I'm wondering is whether or not Royal will sell me a single package after I tell them we only need one because we plan to pool our diamond vouchers. I have read that when people phone in for a single package purchase the reason given is usually that the partner/spouse doesn't drink. In this case we both drink but are simply trying to save the cost of one DBP by combining our D vouchers. I think in the end we will probably end up purchasing a Refreshment package, using our D vouchers and budgeting for a few extra drinks through the cruise.
  23. Our next cruise in October 22 will be our first diamond cruise. My wife and I usually each purchase the DBP. With the 4 daily drink vouchers we will be receiving we might be OK on most days however on some days we will be having more than 4 drinks. We are thinking about simply budgeting for some additional drink purchases each day but I also was wondering about purchasing 1 DBP. Has anyone simply purchased a single DBP while their partner uses their combined Diamond vouchers? Will RC allow this? Thanks
