  1. Ummm, No.

Do not try and push the envelope on this. CK and the SL or Diamond Club are totally different venues with totally different rules. No one with access to the Diamond Club, Concierge Club, or Suite Lounge is allowed to invite guests. Coastal Kitchen has different rules. And yes, I do understand that CK and the SL share an open space on Oasis ships.

What i recommend is that you personally escort any guests into CK as appropriate.

If you really want the policy, I suggest you contact Royal in advance or onboard the ship.

Only have one cruise with access to SL/CK. During our dinning times, there seemed to be plenty of tables/space available for extra guests. Now if everyone decided to bring guests, that might be a different story. I think there were 8 waiters as well.

Beer/wine (on list) is free from 11am-11pm to Suite Guest and PC. The only time our credentials were checked was when we ordered an upgraded drink.

Were is your sense of humor?? I follow my DC/DL remark with a LOL.

Yes, different set of rules. Shorts are PROHIBITED in SL/CK on Formal Nights (not enforced).

  2. Our guests were not offered any free drinks, nor did we ask.

Thanks. I would like to know the policy of allowing guests into the CK as we are planning a trip with family and we would be staying in a Suite but they would not.

I guess that means we could take them into the Diamond Club as well........ LOL

  3. We were allowed to bring guests on Oasis. However, they do have limitations on guests. Speak to the CK host/hostess before you bring your guests.

    Bob,

Are those guests also granted the privileges to have a free drink(s) based on the 11am - 11pm Cocktail Hours of the SL/CK?? Beer/Wine.

The reason I ask, on our cruise, we noticed a cruiser who hung out in the hallway and waited for someone with a Suite/PC credentials to open the door, to follow them in to the SL and go up to the bar for a free drink during cocktail hours. Nobody was checking credentials unless you ordered a upgraded drink. Saw this happen several times from this same person.

    Thanks

  4. I think Troy's point was that a lot of the defenders of 'obey the dress code' suggestions would break the boarding time suggestions if they felt the boarding time suggestions were illogical (in their view). Just like on the Celebrity board when the new 7AM 'out of your cabin on disembarkation morning' suggestion was discussed. Many of the same posters who want everyone to adhere to the dress code, age of children in adult areas, etc. were the first to shout out "no way I'm not leaving by 7AM, they'll have to throw me out!"

People pick and choose want rules they choose to follow. Unfortunately, some people feel it's fine for them to not follow rules some rules but they feel that society will crumble it others don't follow the rules they happen to like.

Thank you. Very well stated. Some like to pick and choose what rules they follow to fit their own needs.

  5. Troy, if you haven't noticed yet, but this thread has been banished to the Cruise Fashions and Beauty area.......the Siberia of CC. Or is it the Fargo, North Dakota, of Cruise Critic. :D

Those posters are not responding to you because they might show a weakened stance. They are not responding to you because e they can't find you. And who in their right mind wants to visit Fargo in February? I have an excuse I'm Canadian, and Fargo is practially Miami for us. :)

Yes, many seem to remain quiet on this subject as I have seen those wanting to stick to old traditions, would be the first to ignore a request from Royal to board by deck/cabin times.

  6. Six or more hours of an already short cruise. In the past, the cruise lines have compensated for this. In addition to the lost cruise time, there will be additional expenses for these cruisers.

A little compassion would not cost you anything.

But wasn't that their choice to book a short cruise.

  7. Now this thread has turned into a Shopping for Slacks thread.

So, all you posters indicating that a suggested dress code prohibits shorts...

What would you do if Royal sent you a email requesting you board at a designated time based on cabin type/deck????? Would you insist all follow that request??? One suggestion is good as another or do you choose to pick and choose????

    No takers.... LOL

I bet more than half those that are for prohibition of shorts in MDR (dinner) can't respond as it would show a weakened stance.

Come on, step up and tell the real truth.

  8. I had to preface by saying that because I'm tired of all the unnecessary rude comments I've received when I ask simple questions. I'm new to CC and cannot believe the sarcasm, negativity and rudeness from people. I'm just looking for help and answers specific to Celebrity and sometimes people go out of their way to make rude, immature, mean comments. Shocking actually. Ugh...guess with a board this large I'm going to find that. Oh well...I'm not going to discredit the awesome people who respond in a helpful friendly manner! I've learned a TON on CC. !

  9. Well you are not reading them correctly - the light blue staterooms at the front are the FOV. It does not say they are suites - it says they are family ocean view staterooms.

The darker blue key is the Two Bedroom Suites at the back. Scroll down all the way on the deck plan. Another confirmation is that there are no balconies directly on the front of the ship and the Two Bedroom Suite - which is on the back - by its description has a balcony.

...and we have stayed in them, so I believe from direct experience I am correct.

I looked at a frontal picture of Serenade and you are correct as there are no balcony staterooms of any type. Only OV types. I have trouble seeing the difference in colors on the website.

  10. I wanted to decorate the door.....tastefully of course....for my husband's 40th birthday while we are sailing. [emoji322] [emoji324]

    Has anyone done this?

Please NO OPINIONS of what u think about decorated doors.......please just answer my question kindly.

    Many thanks!

Asking for no opinions on CC is like asking for the Sun not to rise.

  11. The exact quote from RCI re:compensation

"At this time, we are not offering compensation and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you."

To me that leaves it open as a possibility but I would very much doubt it. I agree. I would be upset if I had the drink package. I didn't ask about that but I would bet they may make some adjustments.

Compensation for what exactly??? What have you lost?? A free meal in the WJ??

  12. Yeah...I'm sorry...I did go in another direction. Not looking at front suite cabins now. Just the GS 1032 and OS 1560.

    Sorry for confusion.

Again, the GS are almost always occupied. If we thought there was a noise problem we and most others would not book them.

GS 1034 was fine. Besides, we had Gabriel, the best Stateroom Attendant we have ever had. He covered 1034 as well. He and his wife both work on the ship together.

  13. Actually there is not. The Two Bedroom Suites on deck 7, 8 & 9 are on the far aft - very back - of the ship.

The Family Ocean View Staterooms - which have a separate bunk room - are what is on deck 7 & 8 in the very front of the ship. They are also not considered suite class staterooms. (We have stayed in these on Serenade).

    Check the deck plans here:

Look, I am just reading the deck plans. Here is the picture of your link. It says they are Suites. I have never stayed in one.

  15. Sorry, and perhaps I am misunderstanding you, but If you are referring to RCI Serenade of the Seas, there are no suites on the very front of the ship. The first suites are about 15 staterooms back from the front of the ship. And if you mean facing forward at the very front of the ships, none of those staterooms have balconies.

Actually there is. The Two Bedroom Family Suites are on deck 8 and on the front of the ship.

  16. Ok...so are you saying you really can't sit on the balcony while sailing if you are on the front of the ship??

I am sure you will get wind when cruising since you are on front but no more wind then being out on the open deck. I can't say for certain as we have never sailed in a Suite that is open near the fore section of the ship.

  17. RCI has gone the route of multi-engine scrubbers, so one scrubber will handle 3 of her diesels. Now, until the scrubber meets the discharge requirements for the scrubbing water, it must be operated in the "closed" mode, where the water is recirculated. Once they have got the parameters set properly, they can operate in the "open" mode where the water is discharged to sea. The other engines must continue to run on diesel fuel while in the US ECA, but the engines on the scrubber can run on residual fuel.

Thanks. Again interesting. I know she has 3 huge motors and 3 small ones which generate the power for the Azipods and other requirements of the ship. When we toured the Engineer/Engine Room, they were cruising 18kts and on one big engine and two small ones.

  18. We just got back from a cruise on Rhapsody on February 4. There was a plate of fruit, including a few strawberries, and we had a plate of cookies, two small bottles of water and one large Evian bottle of water waiting for us when we arrived. I'm sure it depends on which ship you are on as to which bonuses they select for your room.

We had exact same setup on GS Allure last week. They were not in our cabin when we arrived but before dinner. We also had chocolates and Chocolate covered Strawberries during the week.
