I fully agree and with the fact it is a crop sensor, the 300mm really is equal to 450mm, so that is a nice range for any animals/subjects at a distance.

I have also taken only my phone before and honestly really enjoyed myself because I was not as focused (no pun intended) on trying to get those perfect images that for me are rarely gotten on a Caribbean cruise, again at least for me. I did take the Fuji 100f to St Petersburg, Russia because I was traveling for business. I did miss having a little longer focal length. Just a beautiful city.

Hello KYBOB, The 24-70 and 70-200 are part of my normal gear that I take everywhere. I also try to take a few primes for lower light or to get that really shallow DOF shots. The hard part of the long zooms, they take up a lot more room and weight especially when boarding ship since I would not want to send my camera bag with the rest of my luggage unless I had a Pelican case. I notice no one has mentioned flash? I normally take one flash I can use both on and off camera if needed. Like I said, I always tend to over pack.😁

Hello Dave, Thanks so much for the images and what you take with you for gear. We are booked on the Oasis with close to the same itinerary. Great images by the way, nice to see a lot of the detail of what we can expect. Really looking forward to this since it has been years since we have cruised and first time on an Oasis class ship.

When and where did you purchase this. I am going on Oasis and cannot find this to purchase.

So my experience has been that trying to get great photos in the Caribbean is harder mainly because of the time of day the ships are in port. What is your experience taking images during a Caribbean cruise and what do you take with you for camera gear? I know I always overpack, so I would love to hear what others are taking. Also, please post some of your favorite images, great way to get ideas.

If you purchased "The Key" now and it went on sale, could you get better pricing if you notified RCL?

Does "The Key" ever go on sale? I am sure I will not receive anything from RCL to let me know, but other than just keeping an eye on it, is there a better way to know?

Being a photographer for more than 40 years, professionally and shooting just for fun, I have heard this discussion many times. Even back in the film days they would burn and dodge images to get them to look the way they wanted. One of the issues with cruising is sometimes the weather and time of day is not what you want, so you need to make what you can from the image you get. While I try to get the best image I can in camera, I will use Photoshop or Lightroom to make changes and try to enhance the image best I can. Just found this forum, looking forward to hearing more from other cruising photographers.

Before Photoshop I would use Lightroom since it is faster and easier for updates, but Lightroom is a lot more than most people need. Both products you mentioned are good, Elements has the backing of Adobe which a lot of people use and PaintShop Pro has been around for years and has really become a nice product. I don't think you could go wrong with either. One thing I would think about is a library of your images and a product that has that feature so you can easily find your images, tagging them making them easier to find. Hope this helps.

I was interested in this, but not seeing it on the Oasis, but the cruise is not till next year. Is it something that should be there when we book?
