  1. Thanks for posting these, I've been wanting to see what the schedules are for our upcoming cruise. Sadly it appears that Blu does not open until 6pm on nights that the ship is in port, which could make having a reasonably quick meal and heading back out for Harbor Nights a challenge.

I also see that Qsine was not open for lunch on Saturday as it had been in the past. Maybe already cancelled due to lack of reservations by the time this week's were printed.

  2. What is even bigger than the Stanley Cup and will be shown ever day from the 12th Jun through 13th Jul is the World Cup - that will take priority over everything and good luck finding crew during the matches

Perhaps, but with the NY Rangers in the finals for the first time in 20 years and the ship sailing from NY, I think the Stanley Cup finals will be pretty popular.

I found the thread with the 2014 dailies:

    http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2047248&page=2

  3. We paid our final payment in April and now our Aqua Class cabin is down to 999.00 pp. Almost 1000.00 less than what we paid. I will never learn. I was going to cancel before final payment date but then said no. I know it happens but it is aggravating.

If you want Aqua class...they usually go up in price as the cruise date nears (if not sold out).

Aqua class has been ridiculously cheap on Bermuda cruises this summer (even for some in June). I'm not sure why, but it's $999 with resident/55+ discount on most cruises throughout the summer. Note that because it's a special, it cannot be combined with other offers (or existing reservations with offers).

I upgraded to A1 when it dropped to $1149 on my cruise a few weeks ago. I was in 2A for $80 less and got lucky because the $1149 was not flagged as a special fare (even though the Celebrity computers said it was when my TA tried to change it). Fortunately, she called Celebrity and got them to honor the fare and let me keep my existing perks (123 and on-board booking bonus). Given that the reviews I've read have all said that Blu on Summit is great, I've very glad I did the upgrade (I always wanted to try AQ but the price differential was always too high).

Last summer I was watching for Bermuda fare drops and they didn't happen nearly this early. In fact, by the time the price came down on June 1st for the cruise I was looking at in August, I had found a Baltic cruise for a ridiculous price and we did that instead.

  4. So the NY Rangers are going to the Stanley Cup finals and we're sailing to Bermuda a week from Sunday. My son is a big Rangers fan. Is there any chance that Celebrity will show the games on board? I know they did not show the Olympics and I'm not optimistic about them having hockey, either. I guess we could find a restaurant/bar on the Dockyard for the one game when we're overnight in Bermuda and see if they're showing it. Streaming it with a phone would be prohibitively expensive, even with my Verizon international data plan (100mb for $25).

  5. I recall reading on another thread here that the 123Go perk may be offered again after June 2nd for new bookings. So you may not lose that drink pkg after all, as long as you re-book prior to the 123Go promotion expiration, which will probably last about 1-2 months, based on past promotions. :D.

But you probably won't be able to get it with the promotional fares, and 123 may not apply to bookings until September.

Depending on where you live, Celebrity has had an amazing deal on Aqua class cabins on Bermuda cruises for the past week. $999 for NY residents or 55+, and likely other states as well (I checked NJ and it was there). Cheaper than Verandah in some cases. However, it would not be combinable with other offers.

I was able to upgrade to AQ for $1149 a few weeks ago because Celebrity had mistakenly not marked it as a special and my TA got them to give it to me and allowed me to keep 123Go and my on-board booking bonuses. I was paying a little less than that for a Verandah so I was able to upgrade (wouldn't have been able to had I paid more than $1149). I still consider it a bargain (especially since the bonuses I have are worth more than $300 per cabin).

  6. I did a ship excursion my first time out and never again. Research can save you a lot of money. I think Tortola would be my only exception for the Baths
In general, the only reason an experienced and somewhat adventurous traveler would do the ship's excursion is if they are concerned about getting back in time for the cruise departure. So if you're in Cozumel and doing the Tulim ruins, you probably don't want to do it on your own since it's a long trip and often gets back very close to departure time. Probably the same for the Baths in Tortola that you mentioned. We did the excursion to go to Disney World when we stopped in Port Canaveral last year because I didn't want to have to deal with a rental car and returning it and getting back to the ship in time.

That said, there are plenty of people (including many experienced cruisers) who don't want to have to deal with planning things themselves, or simply feel more comfortable with a cruise excursion because of safety or timing issues and always use the ship's excursions.

  7. Someone just asked about the mini golf place in Dockyard, and that's open until 10 (http://www.bermudasun.bm/Content/VIDEOS/Videos/Video/-The-best-mini-golf-course-in-the-world---/163/1052/200083). Fun, but a bit pricey at $15. I've done it twice and enjoyed it (and would do it again).

I know this is an old thread, but does anyone know if there are discount coupons for Fungolf? As you say, $15 is kind of pricey. I haven't seen anything online about discounts.

We will be in Bermuda in a couple of weeks for 3 days on Summit. I booked a catamaran sailing the last day so we will be back by 1 and I figure that will be a good time for mini-golf before the ship leaves.

  8. Transportation passes ( 1, 2, or 3 day unlimited use of buses and ferries) are different from the ticket books, which have 15 tickets each good for one bus or ferry ride. They have not always sold the ticket books at Dockyard...they did last year and the year before, but it appears as though they are not this year.

If you need to take just one ride you can buy a token for $4.

Thanks, I figured that out from the website that Urban trekker posted the link to.

  9. Check out this web site - it has a wealth of information on Bermuda - the passes are available at the dockyard but not at present the ticket books.

Thanks. We're going to be there in 2 weeks for 3 days. I had a credit at a shore excursion site from my TA so I just booked a catamaran snorkel trip for the last day (the only day they had it for) so I'm thinking we should probably get a 2 day pass and just stay local to the pier on the 3rd day after we get back from the snorkeling, which will probably be around 1 (and the ship leaves at 4:30).

  10. I am confused. When you say "ticket book" do you mean the all (or 3) day pass? And I don't understand about them not selling it at the pier (which I thought they did, and even did right on Summit on at least one cruise). Would you then have to pay the single ticket price for the first ride before you're able to get the all day pass?

  11. Does anyone know how to find the schedule for performers from 54 Below? We will be on the June 15 sailing, and I am curious. I even called 54 Below in NYC directly, and the person I talked to said they don't have that information, the performers are booked through "another office" whatever that means. I wonder if there is a way to find out???? Anyone heard any rumors

It's being handled very poorly this year, that's for sure. I'd try contacting Celebrity, but it's unclear that you'd be able to find anyone who knows by phone. The guy (Eric Bohus) who was in charge of entertainment for Celebrity and had a Tumblr blog post about 54 Below At Sea last year seems to have left the company. There's a woman who is in charge of entertainment now and I saw a story about her recently. She'd probably be the one who would know.

Maybe try contactmichael@celebrity.com (goes to the CEO's office) and see if someone there responds and can find out.

  12. That was my image! Sorry for the bad picture, it was with my phone, then posted while sitting at the Swizzle Inn in Bermuda when I noticed people wondering about it. I had no idea it was a new thing, a nice surprise for us either way.

I had the Salmon and the Duck Salad. DH had the Salmon and the Tuna. They were both excellent!

Thanks for posting them. I was planning to have the salmon and either tuna or duck (or maybe both) so I'm glad to hear that they're good.

Someone's got to ask them why they're doing this and the nonsense at the buffet.

  13. I just happened to be looking at pricing on Bermuda crises (even though we are leaving in 2 weeks) and it appears that Celebrity is selling Aqua class cabins for $999 as a resident special (NY definitely, probably others) throughout the summer. It's cheaper than a regular verandah in many cases. They may all be guarantee cabins but for $999 for Aqua, I wouldn't care. I paid more than that to upgrade on my cruise and thought I got a great deal, since you get to eat in Blu, get a bigger cabin and other nice stuff.

Now, the caveat here is that if you already have a booking, you probably can't switch if the new price is less than what you already paid, and since it's considered a special you'll lose your 123 or other benefits. But for new bookings this is an incredible deal!

  14. So then when you price it through the web site under special offers then you can not also add the balcony discount too???

When you're logged in and look at pricing, the balcony discount will be included in the price you are shown. Look at the price details and you'll see it.

The special offers shown on the C&A site are often just the balcony discount.

  15. That is a good price. Just make sure you have data turned off on your phone. We just used Verizon's and paid 2.59 a minute for calls and 0.50 for out going texts and 0.05 for receiving texts. Boosted our bill by $128 and we only had 21 minutes of calls.

Verizon also has a $25 package that includes 100mb of data, but phone calls and texts are pay as you go. Without the data package, you'll pay $2 per mb! The Verizon package isn't just for cruise ships, it's their normal International plan but also includes cruise ships. Note it's pro-rated, so if you only turn if on for a week, you'll pay around $7, but you'll also only get 25mb of data. Extra buckets of 100mb are also $25.

I thought that AT&T had a similar package where you did not prepay for some number of minutes and texts, but I am not a customer so I'm not sure.

I would say be really careful with these smartphones and apps. I turned mine on in Mexico to send 1 email and the apps were starved and download so much data. I got hit. Thx's Mom!

I have to learn better before, I travel again.

You need to turn off background data so the apps you're not running can't start downloading when you go out of airplane mode.

  16. Does anyone have a picture of the construction at the port??

I would like to know if they have started anything yet?

We are booked on the Quantum and the days are going by pretty fast, have not heard of seen anything about the new terminal.

    Helen

The latest pictures I saw from "the site that cannot be named" a couple of weeks ago did not show any actual construction, although they had apparently done some prep work like utility lines.

  17. What perks are they not giving Elite's and above anymore? Is this on all ships? I thought they were still doing the breakfast and the cocktail party or vouchers, hopefully it is not the laundry or the internet that we will not be getting, because I'm Elite after my next cruise and those are the two things I'm interested in.

People have reported that the Elite breakfast is just trays of food being brought around, rather than a buffet. I had not put 2+2 together before, but I think if we take that along with the main buffet changes (where they're giving you food already put on serving plates rather than taken from a tray when you get there) says that someone on that ship is REALLY concerned about the Norovirus or other disease.

  18. I am boarding Summit in 5 days and between that thread and the Elite Breakfast being whittled down I am wondering what they are thinking on that ship?

I also think there was another complaint about the Elite Happy Hour lounge not being available for an entire cruise. But the OP never came back to explain his complaint further.

Celebrity advertises benefits of being a Captain's Club member and entice people to book saying look at all these nice perks you are going to receive and then you don't receive them.

Are they trying to get us to stop cruising Celebrity?

Can you bring it up at the Connections party, or with someone at the senior officers party and get the explanation for all of this?

I spent an extra $300 on my last cruise to stay in Concierge class so I'd be Elite on this cruise. Then I discovered that the Elite drink didn't have all the drinks I expected (my fault, I guess) and they've downgraded breakfast. Fortunately I ended up in AQ this time so I won't have to deal with breakfast issues, although I'll have to go to the lounge if my wife wants a coffee drink.

  19. Just got off the Summit on Sunday and what a pleasant surprise to have the BLU brunch invitation in with our boarding cards. So nice to be served your food without having to tote your bags and find a table.

I also heard that Suite passengers were invited to have brunch in Normandie.

I'm beginning to wonder if this is a Summit-only thing, and perhaps related to changes in the buffet that several people are complaining about in this thread:

If no one figures out what the real story is before that, I'll ask on my upcoming cruise.

  20. No, this road has no traffic on it.

Are you familiar with the road I am talking about?

Someone else posted that it will save 5 minutes.......... It has already taken us an hour to go that half mile or so around the parking area.

    https://www.google.com/maps/@40.66444,-74.077934,3a,37.5y,9.34h,87.82t/data=!3m4!1e1!3m2!1s4MsFVHKOiS14uYYiuDXdIg!2e0!6m1!1e1

Hopefully the link I posted will clarify exactly what I'm talking about..... there is a lane there for "Authorized Vehicles only".

If you're a real fireman and have a sticker in your window like the cops do for PBA, are you do you get "professional courtesy" if you get pulled over?

Let us know how it works out. I wouldn't do it, myself.

Do as you wish....but I prefer to not p!$$ of the NYPD......

It wouldn't be the NYPD :).
