6 months late? You say you cruised in Feb of 2023?

Unfortunately there had to be some miscommunication onboard your sailing. Yes, Celebrity now charges a room service delivery fee (except for continental breakfast) but suites are excluded from that fee and you said you were in an aft suite. You were given wrong info which is not surprising as Celebrity has tried too many different changes at once which in turn confused many crew members.

The way Celebrity keeps changing its policy you never know what may have been in effect. Maybe a butler rental fee lol

The real chore is to maximize profits while retaining a loyal and enthusiastic cadre of loyal passengers. Unfortunately, just by sampling CC posts, they seem to be failing miserably at this more difficult task.  Maybe a more pressing algorithim for X to consider is what is the cost of lost passenger(s) and the future expense of trying to get them  back in the fold.  JMHO

That’s a problem for future management.

    Hopefully you are being sarcastic.

Removing tips may seem fair to you but the person that hurts in your rebellion against the man is the poor cabin steward and wait staff.

If you booked a suite before Oct 3rd your tips are included and can't be removed, since they are part of the Retreat AI. I was in the Retreat Lounge on the Apex in September and heard one suite guest arguing with the Retreat Host because he was told the included tips for booking a suite (at that time) could not be removed and given back to the guest as OBC. He got very irate reiterating that where he lived tipping was not required anywhere.

Why would you want to remove them anyway, that just shortchanges everyone on your cruise providing you a great service.  I hope you were just being sarcastic with your comment.

No I am sincere. Staff can choose to work for a better cruise line. In the interim, to improve service, the Suite Tips Team will cover gratuities.

  4. Thank you for your honest review. This is consistent with the degradation in service we have witnessed on Celebrity. I was hoping it was just a temporary challenge, but looks like the new CEO/whatever is really focused on hitting her personal bonuses at the expense of Celebrity's long-term well-being.

I wish their board of directors would wake up and recognize the reputational harm she is causing.

A recent posting of a comparison lists soda under the Premium package not under Classic.

So it appears that those who booked with or purchased the Classic package aren’t getting what they paid for.  Much like those who book Sky suites with a Butler as a part of the Suite booking, only to find out that the Butler was eliminated.

Time to cue the Celebrity apologists...

    How did you find Princess?

For context, my most recent cruises were Celebrity in June and August 2022, in a Suite and Aquaclass respectively, and Carnival in January in a regular balcony.

The Princess cruise last week was in a regular balcony.

I found the Princess MDR food variety and quality about on par with Carnival & Celebrity MDR and Celebrity Blu. Definitely a step below Celebrity Luminae as expected.

Princess MDR dishes were cooked and served as requested, consistently. No surprises really. Having no real butter/spread service was a bit of a let down as I'm spoiled by Celebrity's offerings there. It was just boring margarine day in and day out. About half way through the cruise they stopped serving the margarine in any nice fashion, and instead just provided chunks in bowl. The first few days the margarine was nicely shaped like rosebuds, etc.

MDR service was decent and cheerful. Not open at all, however, to getting beverages from outside the MDR. As an example, I knew the other bars had various Alaskan beers, but the MDR waiter denied they had anything available and refused to serve anything* but what was specifically on the menu. *He did make an exception for Guinness which was not on the menu but available until the last night at which point it had run out (but Princess charged us anyway).

Princess buffet just destroys Celebrity's. Hands down a ton more variety and quality as good or better. Less chaotic than Carnival's buffet. Fewer people loudly "suctioning their sinuses clean" than Carnival, but still some. Had to leave the buffet a few times when someone sat down nearby just being ignorant (BLOW YOUR NOSE, I DON'T WANT TO LISTEN TO YOU TRYING TO SWALLOW YOUR SNOT).

The Princess cafe does not compare to Cafe al Bacio on Celebrity; same function, but people just are not cheerful and do not really seem to be baristas; coffee expertise just isn't there.

No soft serve ice cream, no gelato, and only two flavours of hard ice cream on our Princess cruise. I mean, it was a bit chilly out but I'm always a sucker for a vanilla soft serve.

Princess pricing was cheaper than Carnival, for whatever reason. Good value, but objectively not great overall. The crew just seemed unhappy compared to what feel like genuine smiles on Celebrity. Still had fun, and will give them a second chance.
