Thank you Vanessa. It is 0°C here now but no workmen turned up today so probably Monday before anything is done. The path in our cul de sac is closed with a 5 foot wide and deep hole still where the water leak was yesterday.

After my first cataract op I took the lens of the eye done out of my varifocal glasses in the house as I no longer needed those glasses for that eye and after the eye settled after a few weeks I went to the opticians and got reading glasses only prescription.

We noticed it at 05.30am when Pauline went to the bathroom and there was no cold water but it might have been leaking for some time. When we looked out of our windows the outside was flooded by 4 inches of water around our house. Fortunately we have a slight slope on our back garden so the water was able to run away and not get any higher The leak mainly affected us due to our location in our small close at the bottom of a cul de sac. A bungalow next to the leak higher up the close had her patio stones lifted by the water but hers was laid on sand and dolomite whereas our patios were all cemented down. Once the water board were able to turn the water main off I was able to move our cars up to the top of the close and the cleaning team could bag a lot of stones,sand and gravel off our back and front garden and paths around us. As there was no cold water they are coming back hopefully today to power wash our drive etc.

Thank you friends for your kind words and concerns. Our garden seems fine except where all the gravel was washed onto a section of the front garden but hopefully it will recover. Our water company contacted their insurance company when they saw the flood around our house and they arranged the cleaning team to come out immediately. Our cold water is back on but the path down our short cul de sac is closed for the night and the hole where the pipe burst and the moved slabs will be repaired tomorrow.

The water leak caused concrete slabs in the close to lift and we got a lot of water,sand and dolomite on our lawn and drive that the slabs were laid on.

Good afternoon. We woke at 5.30am and there was a massive burst pipe in our close. The water board are still here at 15.45pm and dug a big hole and put a new pipe in. I hope everyone is safe and well and have a better day than us.

Thank you Joy. There is a patch on the front lawn 8 feet x 8 feet which was covered in sand/gravel/dolomite from the water flowing down the close path on to our lawn which the clean up team raked off. The rest of the front and back look okay. The cold water is reconnected now. The clean up team are coming back tomorrow to power wash our drive and patio.

The front lawn looks a mess as it was covered in sand and dolomite that was under the streets paving slabs which lifted with the force of the water which was like a river coming down the slope this morning. The clean up team collected several bags of sand/dolomite and raked it off our lawn and brushed into piles on our driveway. Hopefully the lawn will recover. There are several workers and three trucks been here for 9 hours and the pathway is closed off and a massive hole where the leak was. Pauline's brother who is a builder put a special drainage in when he laid all of our patios so as soon as the water was stopped the patio water dispersed quickly.

Thank you Sandi. We are at the bottom of our close and our back and front garden were flooded. Sand and gravel that was under the closes path concrete slabs covered our front. Our patio slabs/bricks were concreted in when Paulines brother laid them so they are okay. The water board cleaning team have cleared the debris and are coming back when the water eventually gets turned on to power wash our drive and garage floor.

This morning there was a major water pipe leak in our close and it lifted the path slabs up and caused flooding. The water board are currently digging up the ground to try to sort the broken pipe.
