  1. I am World club gold and am travelling with a friend who has never travelled with Cunard.

I assume i will get invited to the captains repeat cruisers event at some time.

My question is will my friend also be invited?

On Celebrity cruises if one person has a status level then anyone else in the cabin has the same status. Is that the same with Cunard?

    Thanks

    Linda

  2. Are there any issues/restrictions for people arriving in Dubai with alcohol in their luggage, and then taking it to the ship?

    I ask because I don't know.

A friend who lived in Dubai some years ago told me stories of buying it as a resident. I don't believe he ever tried to arrive with bottles however.

As others have said, if you buy bottles at ports during your cruise, Cunard are quite relaxed about bring it on board.

    Thank you.

You can either buy duty free before you board your flight to Dubai or you can buy itin the baggage collection hall at Dubai airport.

you are allowed to take in up to 4 litres of spirits/wine.

Residents , i believe, can bring bottles in but have a system for buying bottles when they live there

  3. Apologies if this is already a thread.

We have booked Dubai to Southampton ***** QM2.

If we buy duty free on the flight out will it be conficated on embarkation?

Has anyone bought alcohol in a port and was that confiscated.

Also i read somewhere they were considering letting guests buy alcohol on board for in room consumption. Has this happened?

    Thanks

  4. A question for anyone who has done a B2B out of San Juan.

On the changeover day what time can you leave the ship , did you have to join the queue for immigration or did you bypass that and what is the latest time you have to be back on board.
We are from the UK just in case that makes a difference ti immigration.

Also does anyone have a copy of the documentation they give you re the changeover?

    thanks
  5. They will get their new SeaPass cards and in-transit cards the last night of the first cruise, so they can get off with the self-assists. Since they are already checked-in, they have to be back on 30 minutes before sailing. I'd double check that all-aboard time.

You have to be back on in time to attend the muster drill whatever time that is.

All passengers have to attend the muster drill at the atart of every cruise.

  6. Has anyone any experience of taking a day trip in San Juan on departing the ship which holds your luggage and takes you to the airport later in the afternoon.

We have a flight at 6 pm and do not want to spend all day sat at the airport.

    Thanks

  7. Thanks for all your help,we are embarking .

We fly from Manchester to Rome and then take a celebrity transfer to the ship, so other than buying probably quite expensive wine in the duty free at Manchester airport we will not have the chance to leave the port

    Thanks again to everyone.

  8. Just a thought....

We have the classic drinks package on our next cruise which covers amongst other things non alcoholic cocktails.

Is it possible to order a non alcohlic pina colada (free on the package) and also a shot of rum (chargable)? And then mix them.

Is this cheaper than paying for a full pina colada or not really worth the effort?

How much would the shot of rum be compared to a full pina colada?

  9. Has anyone done a back to back from San juan?

What happened on change over day?

I believe we will be docking at the Pan Am pier.

What time we will be able to leave the ship and what time would we have to be back on board.

I assume there are taxis to take us to the old town .

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

  10. Yes you can still get reservations on the ship but probably not at a time you would wish to dine.

If you do get a suitable time ,in our experience, there will be lots of empty tables. So why can't they do reservations? It is a mystery.

In our opinion dynamic dining is a disaster, we ate in the windjammer most evenings as all our reservations disappeared and most of the ones we could get were either at 6 or 9.30.

We found the whole reservation system for dining and shows took the spontaneity out of the trip.

People were making reservations then not turning up.
