  1. Our last stop was Godafoss which reminded us of Niagara Falls . Because the sun was in our face there was a lot of glare . Looking toward the meet point where we would walk to meet our guide , the sun was at our back which is best for photos . We changed our angle to reduce glare A telephoto shot of the other side
  2. We did stop at the area where the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates meet . Stop at Dimmuborgir lava field formed 2,200 years ago .
  3. Thank you very much for your kind words and for resolving this . We're sorry if we caused any confusion . By the way , this thread began on May 31st and our flight to London is on July 9th . That is 5 weeks and 4 days from the start of the thread to our departure . And we hope that this makes it understood clearly . We still have a lot to do before we go .
  4. Thank you. We would really like to keep this thread intact. But now we are confused upon receipt of your post. We enjoyed and were inspired by @KenTheCruiser recent Live from Alaska. We noticed he received recognition and a badge for doing a live thread. This is our first attempt at a live thread. We explained that in the opening of the thread. Hence, we named it Live. He began his live thread 8 days before boarding the ship. We did read another live thread this morning found here: This is written more than a month live and still has not left for his cruise yet. This why we are confused. @graphicguy included stars on either side of his *Live*. If we included the stars on our thread as he did, is this acceptable? If not, can we put semi or liveish and keep the rest of the tittle? On average there are 500 views per day (successful by our standards). Will the thread stay intact and keep our viewers?
  5. Our next stop was the Myvatn Nature Baths . It was for photos and a bathroom break and something to eat that we stopped . Neither we or our travel companions wanted to swim . It's hard to read in the small photo format but the sign on the last pool says 100 C ( 212 F ) , the boiling point of water ! A little too hot for us . The last we heard , the Volcano has closed down the Blue Lagoon in Reyjavik so this place may be packed on the day that we are scheduled to be there . Since our friends and their children want to swim there , we will not be going on the bus with them . We hope to be going on a private trip to see other things . We hope to find out today if Tours by Locals can give us the credit that they owe us . If they can , we will book with them as soon as we can . If not , we have another private tour company that cost more , or we may go with our friends and watch them swim .
  6. Here's the down stream waterfall from Europe's most powerful waterfall . It's called Hafragilsfoss and it required about a mile walk from the car park . It has a giant canyon downstream that looks like the Grand Canyon from the photos that we have seen having never been there . We did fly on a helicopter in the Waimea Canyon on our last anniversary and it was very impressive .
  7. Great choice Norris , our favorite cabin on the Signature and Vista class . We did book a last minute cruise on the Caribbean Princess to England , Iceland , Ireland and Scotland on July 12th . We did start a thread here :
  8. The next stop was the Dettifoss Waterfall . It's 340 ' wide and and 150' deep . It flows 130,000 gallons every minute . Down stream we could see another waterfall where we would go next
  9. We hope to stop at the Namafjall geothermal area that looks like Mars but smells like Sulfur . A smoking fumarole A boiling mud pit
  10. We did have to enter and exit through this Icewear store to reach the busses and our guide . Our guide's vehicle at the first stop
  11. TBL did just leave this message : I would advise waiting a couple of days as we do not have our promo code functionality working yet, although we aim to add this back soon.
  12. No , not Princess credits . They are from a number of TBL tours that we have taken with them in the past .
  13. The port The high sky was cool and beautiful but there was fog low again near the port Geothermally heated water near the port
  14. We have been trying for 4 hours to book our private tour to in Akureyri with Tours by Locals . We have a fair amount of credits that we would like to apply to our tour . These credits must be applied when we pay the balance . If not , they remain as credits . Everything we have tried has not worked yet , but we will continue to try until they honor their pledge to allow us to use these credits . A bit frustrated at this point. In the meantime we will show some of what we hope to do in Akureyri .
  15. We learned a good lesson on our last cruise this year which was in January to Antarctica on the NCL Star . We had booked it to Iceland for this May but the trip was going to be expensive as it involved a weeks stay in Iceland which is very expensive . We found the same cabin available to Antarctica as we had booked to Iceland and so we changed trips with only about 5 weeks before the cruise left Buenos Aires . And like Iceland , it involved a stay after the cruise , but this one in Patagonia . While there we went to hike Mount Fitzroy which is 11,000 feet high ! It's too much for us being flatlanders from Florida . So settled for some lesser hikes using hiking poles for balance and some upper body workout . They will be packed on the bottom of the suitcase ( along with our puffer jackets ) to be used when needed . And so we hope to see Penguins and Puffins in the same year .
  16. The upward climb had a path for the first part which you can see on the right . The first waterfall that we saw we hiked down and back up . But this one was up first and down later . We stopped where the path did where the view of the ship was wonderful with the fog hanging around all day .
  17. We are thrilled today to have met some nice people on our cruise that we are able share a couple of private tours with . Our other friend have things that they want to do and so we are booking some new tours with the new people that we have met through the Cruise Critic Roll Call . We had a good blood draw for my physical and the follow up visit with the Doctor was very good as she arranged for X-rays today for a possible stress fracture of the leg . The meds seem to be working well and there is no evidence of a fracture , so it's full speed ahead . ✈️🛳️
  18. After a quick bite to eat on the ship we could see a waterfall from our balcony , so we set out to explore it . We were looking forward to the falls and back to the ship . We didn't know the names of the waterfalls that we saw that day as we were climbing them . But we like to learn something new every day so we checked it later . This is Budareyrarfoss . https://www.google.com/maps/place/Búðareyrarfoss/@65.2639875,-14.0033732,15.82z/data=!4m6!3m5!1s0x48cbff281512c119:0x7c4f35c11e5eb748!8m2!3d65.262948!4d-13.9903691!16s%2Fg%2F11q274834b?entry=ttu
  19. We had asked the driver to let us out at the church in the town We really liked the bright colors on a foggy day .
  20. As we were returning to the port we requested a photo stop We exited the bus to a thunderous sound . Behind us was the Gufu Waterfall . 2nd photo shows people to illustrate the size of the falls In this port we could walk off of the ship in a covered tunnel near the blue bus . The Caribbean Princess can't do this and will require water shuttles to go ashore .
  21. Lupines everywhere Basalt columns like on the Giant's Causeway in Ireland Giants Causeway in Ireland Basalt Columns The return trip to the port
