Cozumel was sunny and hot as hades! Can’t say about the other locations.

There’s also first night done right for $15 or $20 depending on ship and week. The lamb chops are to die for! That would be a dinner option, not lunch

So I decided not to go as far as Schotchies. Went to Peppers Jerk Center. Had a plate of jerk chicken and curry chicken. I love Jamaican food and have eaten it regularly for over 30 years. This was THE BEST EVER! It’s a 5 minute walk from the ship. Highly recommend it!!!

Thank you for the clarification. I always add to the prepaid daily service charge but didn't realize just how important it is. I do have another question. If we give them cash directly versus adding it to their account, do they have to report it?
It is my understanding that if prepaid gratuities are removed then they do report it. This way it does not appear as if they had done a poor job.

Were you able to keep the same cabin? If so, you were very lucky. Hope you enjoyed

No had to move. But I rather like the experience of a different cabin

Paid $2400 total for an ocean view balcony on Oasis. While on board went to the Next Cruise desk and and asked how much for the same room to stay on for a second week. Got it for $1100 total with $100 OBC. Victory!!!!!

The grats are 18% but only apply to the drink portion of the combo - no grats on the VOOM portion.
Right!

Noted, I'll have to stop badmouthing Bistro bacon till I try it again. I was so traumatized by it in 2011, I didn't go back for breakfast in 2013 or on Oasis in 2016.
You may need bacon therapy

Ok my daily price was about the same but gratuities higher. That’s Strange. So I paid about 38CAD more. No big deal. Thanks

omg you all need to chill. you can tip, if others choose not to for whatever reason, they don't have to! live your lives! don't worry about others!
We are worried about the staff that don’t get their tip when the auto gratuities are removed. And it’s our right to do so. Yes the room steward and dining staff you can see them and tip them. But the behind the scenes staff get shafted. And I’m very chill.

It was a result of the great depression. Resturant owners went from paying servers well enough to depending on patrons.
Nope. It happened way before the depression. Try again[emoji16]

I think its RCCL fault should be part of the cruise fare
Then it becomes their revenue instead of income to employee. I think

The grand prize goes to the first person who can state why the USA has the type of tipping policy it does for restaurant servers. Below minimum wage pay and make money in tips. 3...2...1...Go!

There is a LOT of judgment in these replies. We have no idea what the passengers OP mentioned actually did. It's none of our business. Since gratuities are optional at this point in time on this cruise line, they can be removed. Pretty simple stuff.
Hmmm. It’s none of our business. Yet the OP posted in a public forum.

I wish the gratuity would be made mandatory. Even if you give cash to the room steward and to the dining room staff. About $4 of the gratuity goes to other staff you don’t see to tip individually. 4,000 people on a ship times $4. That is $16,000 to be divided amount staff. They need that money.

To quiet all the Nassau haters. I am not one of them. But if this stops the vitriol, I’ll be happy

There are some entrees you pay extra for. But you can enjoy a dinner for free. But things do change so...

The most crucial things are to make reservations for your shows and dinner. Look for sales on excursions, beverage packages and internet and buy those in advance. Everything else will be fine
