Ravensbad not exactly true. The new rule is if one gets the alcohol package and the other is granted an exemption, the 2nd person must still buy the soda package.

Carry an umbrella! I have seen a lot of local people using brightly colored umbrellas to shade the sun.
Some of those may look like regular umbrellas but they are really UV protection parasols. You can find them on amazon. I have one and it has saved my life. A regular umbrella won’t do the trick

I would use cash when shopping in ports. Too many credit card scams out there. I had my card compromised in London at a major store. So won’t use it in small island shops

If you wish to tip extra beyond the auto gratuity, you would place that $ in an envelope and hand to the room
Steward. There’s usually an envelope left in your room towards the end of the cruise. If you need more just ask guest services. I also tip extra to the MDR head waiter. But please note that I do this in addition to the auto gratuities. I pay those so all the other people
Who benefit from that type of tipping bet their share. For a 7 night cruise, I give $40-50 each to steward and waiter

All bags were checking getting back onto the ship in St Thomas and At Marteen. You can get cans of soda. People without the package do. Just ask for it and hope they remember not to open it before bringing it to you. But to help the local economy for that dollar, I’d suggest buying the soda on land.

My assumption is that the texting feature is for INTERNAL texting only (i.e. between two phones that are both onboard the ship). And that's $7.95 per phone per cruise, or, per phone per day? I might do it if it was per cruise so we don't have to carry walkies, but if it's per day, I'll pass.

The one question that I have not seen answers is: if person 1 has package and person 2 has an exception and this no package, is person 2 prohibited from buying alcohol because its notes on their seapass card somehow?

^^^Anyone that calls to provide information as to why guests in their stateroom cannot utilize the package will be granted an exception without documentation required and no requirement to purchase a different beverage package.

Drink cards are not a given. Depends on how well drinks are selling if the ship decides to bring them out. So you can’t really depend on them. If offered it won’t be day 1.
