  1. For me Carnival is all about the party atmosphere which I don't seek on a cruise. On Royal you can relax or you have tons of activities and then you can still party at night. I compare C and R as I would Holiday Inn and a W hotel. Both give you a good place to sleep but you feel a more upscale experience with Royal. My suggestion is to give it a try. Unless you are opposed to mega ships (which I love) I suggest one of the Oasis class ships, especially Harmony.

  2. Over on this thread people said two bottles per stateroom (that has someone over 21 in it). I disagreed per the FAQ on RCI's website but I was told I was wrong. Something to investigate for anyone wanting to bring 2 for a stateroom with under 21s in it.

When you walk through the scanner no one knows what cabin you're in and what age people are. If you look age 21 plus then you go through with 2 bottles.

  3. I'm just going from past experiences. Never had a problem. If they were to say we're going to have to charge you corkage, then I'd just bring the wine back to my room and bring back a glass. Easy peasy. :)

The rule is not applied 100%. Just giving the poster the rules. Then they can decide what to attempt

  4. I prefer to read this as: two bottles of "wine" per "stateroom". :p

Also, just go to chops with the bottle already opened. You'll be fine. I always bring my Old Vine Zinfidel by Kirkland. We laugh at the reactions we get from the staff. This wine is just incredible.

Not true. If you take the bottle even if open you are subject to the corkage fee. Each person takes a glass of wine and you're ok

If you mean tipping at a specialty restaurant, most people do tip. But I do think it's included in the extra price Personally I don't do specialty. Main dining room works for me. If I'm going to spend $40 at an Italian restaurant I will do that at home

  6. As long as you are on the ship why don't you ask at Guest Services what they are going to do. I would guess that they have plans in place for such happenings.

Exactly. There is paperwork to complete for this onboard. You can disembark early. Plus this is a great advertisement for having a passport and not cruising on your birth certificate!

  7. It seems virtually no one wants to pay the fare before they have to -- which makes sense to me. But why do so many like to pre-pay service charges to "get it out of the way"?

The only thing that can keep me up at night is knowing I owe someone money. So if I pay the gratuities in advance I sleep better [emoji16]

  8. I roll most of our tshirts and shorts and they shake out perfectly after hanging them in the closet.

Our dress clothes are left on hangers, covered with a dry cleaning bag and folded in half on top of our rolled clothes. No wrinkles!!

    Been doing this for years!!!
