  1. Does Glory have an outlet between the headboard of the bed and mattress in balcony rooms? I've heard some ships/rooms do. Just trying to find out if a couple of the guests traveling with us will need to contact special needs for an extension cord for their CPAP machines. If there's an outlet between the mattress and headboard then the cord on the CPAP should reach no problem. We are booked on Lido deck balconies.

But if we need to request an extension cord, the people in my party that need one just need to email Specialneeds@carnival.com and request one and provide Name, Booking number, Ship name and sail date? Maybe room number too?

Thanks in advance for your guys help.

  2.

Oh yes, I already have that. It came with my fisheye lens and stays on that all the time. Yes, I know what polarizers do (I'm a dslr girl too with a lot of equipment ;)). I guess I never thought of using one on this camera. Maybe I'm see if the ones I have here at home with fit it. Although I have to say I love when I turn on my Diorama feature on the Olympus because it really pops the picture and I like the effect it has on the pic. I wonder if I put an orange filter on the camera when scuba diving if it would help?

Diorama feature? I'll have to look for this on mine. i havent played with the new one yet and wife wont let me use hers' LOL. Only thing I remember changing when i took underwater pictures was I used the underwater preset scene already on the camera.

Looking at your pictures when you were at Bananarama the water was pretty rough that day. Is was nearly glass smooth when we were there. I'd post some pictures but I have my pictures on Photobucket and they no longer allow 3rd party linking unless you upgrade to their $400 a year package. Forget that!!! and the ads are killer, Its like playing whackamole when I go to my photobucket page. constant ads poping up. I put my GOOD pictures mostly from my Nikon DSLR camera on Flickr.

But heres a direct link to my Roatan pictures from back in April of 2016. Pictures from west bay start at page 5. These were all taken with the Olympus TG-4. Next pages have pictures from snorkeling right off the beach just south of Bananarama resort.

I need to find a different photo host website for my usual pictures that I can post in forums like cruise critic. Who do you use? Smugmug?

  3. I know for Verizon customers, Verizon does not have a international calling plan on the ships anymore. They did up to a little over a year ago but when Cellular at Sea, aka AT&T cause thats who owns them, they raised their lease and usage rates for other carriers and Verizon said forget it and did not renew their lease with Cellular at Sea. Back in April 2016 when i was on Splendor cruise we had a international package through Verizon for that month it gave us cell service on the ship for up to 100 mins call and 100 sent texts and unlimited receive texts and then only 100 mb of data. Our next months bill had no extra charges or surprises other then the $40 monthly internatinal rate so it was kinda nice but since then Verizon and Cellular at Sea dont see eye to eye and no service package is available for Verizon customers. BUT!!! Verizon does now have WiFi texting and Wifi calling on most all phones and works on most any plan but I do not know about the pay as you go ones. Simply put phone in airplane mode, turn on wifi and purchase at lease the value wifi plan on the ship and your regular texts work through the ships wifi. to make a call you have to go into advance calling in options/settings and turn on wifi calling. again keep it in airplane mode and wifi on.

Verizon phones can make a call on the ships cell tower but at a rate of $2.99 a minute and then Verizon will also charge international rates, roaming charges and who know what else and from what I hear can add up to about $6 a minute for a call. The phone in your stateroom will make calls at $1.99 a minute and charges to your S&S card

If you leave your phone in normal/data on or not in airplane mode and you dont have a international plan that works on the ships tower then you will find a big surprise in your next months cell bill. several apps on your phone like weather apps, email, automatic updates for apps, location services for MANY apps, time zone updates, the list goes on and on. this all uses cell data and roaming charges through the ships tower. you may not get or make 1 phone call or text message but when you get your next months bill, you will have a surprise.

  4. This is the lens adapter that allows you to put filters and other lenses on.

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0080DIYZW/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=I3QYTA7SJ83ZPO&colid=3IO4O4JOB29CH&psc=0

It comes with a lens cap too. then if you want to use filters like a circular polarizer you can put 40.5 mm filters on. we just got this for ours.

    https://www.amazon.com/Vivitar-3-Piece-Multi-Coated-Filter-40-5mm/dp/B005VDWFQI/ref=pd_bxgy_421_2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=B1X6CD2HT7MS5GVRQXY0

polarizer filters cut reflections and glare and deepen the blue color in skies. kinda makes colors truer and brighter. I use it all the time when shooting outside landscape scenes. then just take the filter off for underwater shots.

  5. That Olympus TG-4 takes good pictures out of water and under water doesnt it? I take it most of the out of water pictures your posting where taken with it? nice sharp vivid colors. I have the TG-4 also and now the new TG-5. Had to get another because wife claimed it as hers after our last cruise and saw how good it takes pictures so now for our next cruise in April to western Caribbean on Glory we bought a another Olympus TG camera. We even got the lens cap adapter for them so we can use a lens cap and filters. Makes me nervous with an exposed lens and nothing to protect it from getting scratched when not using it. Yes its still waterproof with the lens cap adapter if your considering one. My other camera isnt too shore excursion friendly when it comes to water. I also have a Nikon D5200 DSLR with several lenses. It usually stays on the ship. But now wife and I have our own waterproof Olympus cameras. Cant wait to take more snorkeling photos at West bay in Roatan next April. Awesome pictures though.

I took this last time we were in Roatan with our Olympus TG-4. I've had several requests of the digital file so they can make a print or use it for computer desktop back ground.

  6. Yep another one that got the email. I’m booked on Glory in April for a Western. I think they were supposed to click the “send to all currently booked for Bahamas cruise” and accidentally clicked “send to all currently booked on a cruise” ??? Maybe.? I dunno but that apology email better come with a $500 OBC too. LOL. just kidding.

  7. For my upcoming cruise in March, FLL airport to YVE Hotel downtown, my travel agent reserved transport through Super Shuttle. Fee was about $50 one way including taxes, for a shared shuttle van. They had a wide variety of pickup times available.

Wonder how your travel agent got that rate. I just did a mock booking on Super Shuttle from FLL to YVE hotel and the online quote said $162 for 4 people and that was just from FLL to YVE Hotel. no return. Thats $40.50 per person. add a return from POM to FLL and it adds another $87 for 4 peeps. . SAS shuttle only wants $15 per person to and from.

Were flying into FLL to sail on Glory in April and staying night before at YVE also.

  8. Unless anyone has warrants out for their arrest or they are currently accused of a felony crime on going in courts they can not cruise. They are on parole and do not have permission from their parole officer they can not cruise. DUI, DWI certainly does not disqualify you from being able to cruise. if it, did that would disqualify a lot of cruisers in this country. LOL. passing bad checks doesn't really either. unless he/she is still wanted or on parole for it. then they have to get permission from their parole officer and Carnival before going.

  9. Its definitely slow if your going to send, upload or receive picture messages on FB messenger or surf FaceBook. Just plain texts through FB messenger is pretty quick though as sending and receiving FB texts doesn't need a whole lot of bandwidth. Connectivity on the ship depends on the ship and how well their WiFi is setup and how many repeaters or wifi antenna's they have through out the ship.

  10. My parents finally called me tonight on Facebook messenger video chat. She tried yesterday but couldn’t figure out connect her iPad to the WiFi. Today she took it down the Internet cafe and a staff member showed her how. Very good connection from their room considering they are currently in the middle of the Caribbean Sea. No skipping or delay in sound or video. Clear video.

It was a medical emergency for the immediate return back to port but they have no details of what happen, just someone had to leave the ship for medical reasons.

They were out watching the Bronco Patriots game on the big screen under the stars but as bad as the Broncos are playing they went back to their room at halftime.

  11. For those that use circular polarizes here’s a trick I learned for turning your ring to maximum and minimum quickly with out spending time looking through the view finder and turning the adjusting ring back and forth to find maximum and minimum. Screw your filter on snug. Since filters are fine thread your filter will always screw on to the lens in the same spot nearly every time. Use some white nail polish and with a very fine brush or paper clip make a dot on the stationary ring of the filter and a dot in line with that one on the edge of the lens barrel. This marks were to screw your filter onto your lens each time so the maximum and minimum will be in the same place each time. Now holding your camera in normal horizontal look through the cameras view finder and turn the adjusting ring to find maximum polarization. Using a different nail color make a dot on the adjuster ring and a dot right next to that one on the stationary ring. Now do this for minimum polarization with another different nail color. Remember these two colors for max and min for horizontal camera view. Now with another 2 different colors do the same for when you hold your camera vertical or sideways. Always hold your camera the same for vertical shooting. Most everyone holds DSLRs turned counter clockwise. Hand grip on top. Now when you want max or min polarization just match up the correct colors quickly and shoot. No waisting time looking through your view finder finding max or min and miss the shot. Now for anything in between max and min you just have to look through the view finder and adjust it how you want it. But hopefully this help you find max and min polarization that much quicker so you don’t miss that shot

  12. You can text on Verizon’s text app all you want while on the ship at no extra cost. Verizon text works through most any WiFi connection. I did this on our last cruise back in April 2016 when Verizon was beta testing it and it worked no problems. Non of the texts showed up on my cell phone, it didn’t even register on the international calling plan we had. Put your phone in airplane mode and then turn WiFi on and send a text to anyone. Verizon even has WiFi calling. But this feature I believe you have to go into your phones call settings and enable wifi calling for it to work. I haven’t tried it on the ship yet but I have tried it through my homes WiFi connection and works just like making a cell call. Again they said make sure your phone is in airplane mode and WiFi is on. Some have also said Carnival WiFi doesn’t support it but we’re still able to make WiFi calls and receive calls. During my cruise next April I’m going to try this through the value wifi plan on Glory. Going to call someone back home and then have them call me and see what the voice quality is. Facebook messenger you can make calls and even video calls but quality is not great and there is a delay in the sound by a couple seconds. If it works for Facebook messenger it should also work for Verizon WiFi calling too. Both are nothing more then a WiFi calling app. Make sure your phone is in airplane mode and WiFi on before trying though. If your not in airplane mode you phone will use the ships cell tower antenna first over the WiFi connection and I thinks it’s like $2.99 a minute plus your cellular providers international rate and roaming charges. It adds up quickly.

I plan on testing Verizon’s WiFi texting and calling on our next cruise during a sea day and not while in port or close to a port. Picture texts and sending and receiving short videos through text. Then WiFi calling to and from and even Verizon’s HD video calling between other Verizon customers that’s already included free in all of Verizon’s calling plans and report back on my findings on Carnival Glory. I’m even going to test a live Facebook video that some say works pretty good sometimes.

  13. Yep, so now I buy Cruise Cash ahead of time with my discounted Gift Cards and am done with it. It's on my account when I step on the ship, no visit to anywhere needed.

Hmmm. I may have to do this for my cruise in April. I’ve heard at port of Miami when checking at the terminal they sometimes will add your gift cards and other times they say you have to do it once you get on the ship. Our last cruise out of Miami on Splendor in 2016 they added our gift cards when we checked in without hesitation. But it seems lately with other posts from people it’s a 50/50 chance they will add your gift cards during check in anymore. I’d rather board the ship grab one of those umbrella drinks in each hand, find a deck lounger and start unwinding. Not wait in line or wait for an open kiosk to load my account.

  14. I wish they would make it so you could add gift card balances to your S&S card online before your cruise. They have it when you setup your S&S so you can add credit cards and debit cards but not the gift cards. you can add gift cards to your cruise balance online. they just need to complete the circle. LOL. that way if they dont add it at check in you dont have to wait at GS or wait for an open kiosk to add it embarkation day. we all know how busy GS is and those kiosk are on boarding day. I'm the same way, strictly cash account only.

  15. pay for free service??

Its only free service if your already Diamond, Platinum or book a suite.

I'll gladly pay extra to walk right in to the terminal first thing in the morning and go right through check in without waiting is worth it instead of waiting in line outside possibly in the rain, hot sun or cold depending where you embark.

I'll gladly pay extra for having your luggage at your stateroom door when you board instead of after dinner 6 hours later AND access to your stateroom at 11:30 am when you board instead of sometime after 1:30 pm and i've heard as late as after 3:00 pm sometimes too.

Which brings me to being able to board the ship with diamond and platinum members. Embarkation day counts as one of the days you paid to be on the ship. Why would I want to wait till 3-4 o'clock in the afternoon to board when most of the day is already gone that I again paid for?

Some excursions will only wait so long for you to arrive and when its a port that's tendered like Belize and the ride is 20-25 minutes to the dock once the tender begins to move. Some cave tubing guides will only wait 1 hour after the boat arrives. FTTF meet at guest services and someone takes you right to the head of the tender lines with diamond and platinum members and you get on the next tender. Sure I could get up really early in the morning to get a number for tenders but i'm on vacation, I dont want to get up at 4 or 5 in the morning to wait in a line in the dinning room for hopefully a low tender number. I'll gladly pay extra to just have a crew member take me right down to the head of the line so i can get to my shore excursion that takes all day to do.

I might have a problem and need to speak to guest services to get it resolved. I dont want to spend an hour or more waiting in line at guest services. Again, I'll gladly pay extra to use the priority line. I'm on vacation, I dont want to waste time standing in lines.

It may sound selfish but every passenger has the same opportunity to purchase FTTF or a suite and get the same perks. To me its a small price to pay to avoid waiting during my vacation. $70 for a 7 day cruise equates to $10 a day and covers everyone in my cabin. NOOOO PROBLEM MON. Its worth it to me.

    .

  16. Some of you are missing the point of the original post. Friends husband dies, wife calls what she thinks is Carnival to have them change her husband with a close family friend instead. From the hundreds of other threads and posts I’ve read, this is usually a $50 change fee. She didn’t call to cancel her or her husbands booking. She called to change a passenger with a different passenger something Carnival has done 1000s of times and from I’ve seen it’s usually a $50 fee. Whom ever she got on the other end of the phone, I still think a third party call center, went overboard and said, oh your husband died? Well that means he cancelled and you lost his entire fare and must pay an additional $250 cancellation fee too. Pay up. Now you want to bring someone else with you instead? That will be full rate to add another person.

She still planned on going with someone else to honor her husbands passing. She’s upset at Carnival or the third party call center for how they reacted when she told them her husband died and i’d like to bring this person in place of my husband.

  17. Wife and I wore sandals with ankle straps. like these. https://www.walmart.com/ip/CAT-FOOTWEAR-PATHFINDER-MEN-S-SPORT-SANDALS/950643504

Tour guide said they where no problem and said as long as they have an ankle strap that you cant slip in or out of and a decent thicker or harder sole then usual flip flops have. No Foam soles, flip flops, slip ons, or ones with no strap across the back. Ours had open toes and wasnt an issue at all. Ours looked just like the ones I linked. We got ours from Walmart and wore them 95% of the time on the cruise ship. Only time I wore something different was elegant night with dress shoes. Yes I even wore those sandals with decent shorts to the MDR on normal dinner nights. No Problem.

  18. When we did butts up cave tubing we got off the ship late cause the damn trender boat driver had to have EVERY SINGLE seat filled before he would leave. A couple single seats here and there, you know how hard it is to fill those from passengers that are all in groups. not to many single cruises. Anyway we finlly get to the dock and it was not hard to find Butts Up caving tubing, they were RIGHT outside the gates. loaded into the van and off we went. got the park, had time to change if needed and then walked for 30 minutes with many stops along the way while the guide taught us about the forest and land and it was very fascinating to learn about the trees, bushes, animals and plant life along the way. got to the point you get in your tube and they had PILES of inner tubes already up there waiting for us. Butts Up has the NICE inner tubes with handles and back rests. got in the tubes and the guide clips all our tubes together and then the guide would tow us with a rope down the river. the flow of the river was very slow so they had to pull us along and steer us away from the rocks. Our guides name was "Speedy" He and his companion that drove us to the park were a RIOT. they had us in stitches all along the drive out to the park. The cave is one long cave with kind of an opening on one side half way through. He told us this is where cruise ship passengers tour ends and they get out and have to walk back to the parking lot. Buy directly through butts up website and you get to float the rest of the way through the cave and all the way to the first river crossing when your walking to the cave from the parking lot. get out of your tube and its a 2 minute walk back to the parking lot. get back in the van and they take you to their picnic spot and feed you amazing chicken tamales and rice and a water bottle. there's a bar right there at the picnic pavilion if you want beer, or mixed drink. back in the van and drive us back to the cruise port. after all this we still had 2 hours before last tender. So we wandered through the shops there at the dock and spent some money on souvenirs. we were never rushed and that was when our cruise ship was only in port for 8 hours. Our next cruise in April, Carnival Glory is now in Belize for 9 hours so even more time for cave tubing and shopping. You book through the cruise ship you may get the same price but you wont get the same tour or your moneys worth. Right now Buts Up Cave Tubing is having a sale on the cave tubing tour for only $35 pp. vs their normal price of $45 pp. Butts Up does this daily, they know when they have to have you back to the ship. their not going to be late. they'll just drive faster. LOL.
