  1. Hello everybody!

I am looking to book my first Royal Caribbean cruise and could use some assistance. My girlfriend several years ago went on a cruise and hated it and swore off cruising. Well after many years and much convincing by me she’s willing to give it another try, so I’m looking to hit a homerun. We are both early 30s, enjoy being active and looking to leave out of FL. My budget is $2500, any suggestions on which ship/room to book. Oh and we are looking to leave next Aug-Dec (2016). Definitely hoping to get the most bang for our buck. I know it’s a long way away but I was told I got the best prices if I book early. Oh and does it make a difference where I book from (what website?) Thanks for any and all advice!!

I would suggest Freedom class ships and most definitively a balcony! Freedom of The Seas leaves from Part Canaveral & I think Independence leaves out of Lauderdale. You can get a nice balcony room on a 7 day cruise out of either of these ports for your budget. I always book thru Royal but I know many people use a travel agent. Go later in Sept or October as the Caribbean is beautiful and the kiddies are back in school so less on the ships :D. Eastern or Western is great but we prefer Eastern. Have FUN!! :o

  3. I've had a unique cruise summer having sailed both RCCL and Disney on 7 night Caribbean Cruises in the past 2 months. We are a family of 4 with 2 young sons ages 9 & 6. We have sailed 8 RCCL cruises and are 1 away from Diamond. I am a big supporter of Royal and was skeptical and attentive to every difference I could think of. After a week on Disney Fantasy I have to say that the quality is a bit better on Disney and it's worth paying a little more for. I'll be back to post some of what I thought were the main differences. Obviously having kids plays a big factor in my point of view but I feel Disney just does it a little better even If traveling without children.

Maybe but I would miss not having a casino on Disney

  4. Anyone know(from experience or prior knowledge) what the chances are of this Sunday's sailing being cancelled? My son and his new bride will be on their honeymoon! Aaaagh!! Don't want them to panic if there's no reason to.......[/quote

If they got cruise insurance they are ok. Just get on line now and look for another cruise leaving the same date or a day later. Any cruise line is better than no cruise.

  5. Everybody was on the ship since we hadn't docked in Falmouth. We were suppose to arrive at 10 a.m. The fire started after 9 a.m. It started in the engine room & I've heard smoked filled the Crown & Viking Lounge.

We are still in the theater.

Glad you are all safe! Keep us informed

  6. I get up earlier than my husband so I usually have coffee delivered from room service and sit out on our balcony and just watch the ocean. I also bring small binoculars to spot other boats, ships and sea life. We then read the daily activites and see what we want to partake in. Then up to breakfast when he wakes up. We usually are dressed in our bathing suits under our clothes so then proceed to the deck..him to sunbath, me to read and take a few dips in the pool. Then its NOON so time for a foofoo drink :p. He tends to like to lay there and Im usually up and touring the ship shops. After dinner we like to hit the casino for awhile also and find the bar we like the best, usually with a piano player. We also catch a show or whatever the ship has going on...then back to the cabin to relax on our balcony for our night caps...dam Im getting excited now!! Will be on board again in Sept!! Happy sailing..you will LOVE it :D

  7. My husband always wears a sport coat and dress shirt on formal night with nice dress pants. Tie..nope :D Oh, dont forget bandaids or small first aid kit. It comes in handy when you need it and dont have to go search like I did  Also, if you have prescription glasses, bring an extra pair!! I had my lens FALL out over the side into the ocean! That was hard trying to read menus and such with one lense!! LOL

    Have FUN!!

  8. Trunk Bay and Half Moon Cay.

We always ferry over to St John when in St Thomas and also go to Trunk Bay. I don't think I've ever seen a more beautiful beach. Will be back in Sept! Google it..its gorgeous !! Go ***** your own and avoid the ship excursion there, herding you like cows..lol
