  1. We were originally booked on the Sunshine BUT on the advice of my brother who I must add, works for Carnival, he suggested I would not be very happy with that ship and suggested we go on the Carnival Freedom. Well, it wasn't in our time frame so as you can see we canceled the Sunshine and now are booked on Independence..

  2. Let's just say your level of tolerance will in all likelihood be tested! Do you folks have children or grandchildren of your own? If so, you understand how different they all can be and of course the parenting skills associated with them certainly adds to the outcome of how they act.

Yikes!! Yes we have 10 grandchildren and are "supposedly" escaping from them on this cruise :D I guess a cruise experience is always what you make it

  3. My husband and I just booked an 8 day cruise over Christmas on IOS. Im a bit worried now realizing how many kids are on vacation that week. Im not opposed to well behaved children but too often I have seen kids going wild unsupervised on cruises, and am rethinking my reservation. Anyone been on a Christmas cruise and what was your experience?? Thanks in advance!! :)

  4. NO smoking on Royal Balconies...Sorry, I know how you feel.

I just called and even E-Cigs and vapo cigs will be banned on Balconies and in rooms. I think they will find that hard to enforce since there is NO smell to water vapor. Are they going to put cameras in our rooms next?? LOL

    :D

  5. Wow - nice way to welcome new cruisers from Carnival!

It really blows my mind that people who find smoke so offensive and people who have "smoke allergies" continue to gripe about people smoking on the balcony. Those smokers are within their right and smoking where they are allowed to per a policy. They made a decision to go with a particular cruise line because of their smoking policy. If you find smoke so offensive or are so allergic - why didn't YOU select another cruise line where you wouldn't have those problems since there are many to choose from instead of complaining about what others (who are perfectly within their rights) are doing.

Here here!! BRAVO! She sounds kind of old anyway..let them go to Holland America..oh no they have smoking..how about Celebrity then..LOL

  6. Just canceled my New Years cruise with Carnival. Can anyone give me any tips to navigate the NCL web site. :D

Just canceled my Christmas cruise with Carnival. Just put in your dates and search. Heres one for New Years on a NEW ship!

  7. We are non-smokers and have often been chased off our balcony by smokers nearby. But we don't make a big deal out of it. We knew in advance that NCL allowed smoking on balconies.

But I'm a little concerned that the problem will get worse as Carnival smokers move over to NCL.

I for one canceled my Carnival cruise today and am coming to NCL..be afraid..I come with tattoos also!! LOL:rolleyes:

  8. We will be on that same route and ship later this month, so we are very much looking forward to your review.

Sounds like you are doing what we plan to do, which is to arrive in Orlando/Port Canaveral a day before the cruise. Quick question (assuming you flew in), how did you get from Orlando airport to the hotel you are staying at in Port Canaveral? We are having a hard time trying to figure out how we are going to get to our hotel from the airport the day before the cruise. Also, how do you plan to get to the port from your hotel, a taxi or shuttle?

It says boarding time is at 4:30 (just like our cruise), but please let us know how early one can get to the Port. Seems like you are going to try to get there early, which is what we like to do.

Thanks and have a great cruise!!

What we did which seemed to be the cheapest was rent a car at the airport then drop it off near the port the morning of the cruise. There are several companies that you can choose from then they shuttle you to the ship for free. It was nice having the car that night before to explore around and find a nice restaurant.

  9. Cute story. My husband and I are cruising for the first time on the Maasdam this coming April. We are really concerned with with only hearing stories of elderly people. What was the age of majority of passengers on your cruise? We are in our early forties and definitely don't want to be on a Geritol cruise!

Yikes...Holland America line is known for older cruisers but they are *trying* to change that image. My Mom only cruise with them and she is 82

  10. Well it isn't something I found funny at the time but a lot of people seem to enjoy seeing my plight on the flow rider...

  11. I love to sit on the balcony at night with my DB and have a cocktail and a cigarette. I would smoke in the room to spare all you *non* smokers but that is banned now also. The man and the rules :( Pretty soon we won't be able to make love on the balcony!!! JEEEEZZZZ :p Oh sorry...am I talking porn now?? (running and ducking...LOL)
