  1. So, DH decided today we should cruise for Christmas this year. We just returned from Alaska on NCL. Our first and last time with them... Our kids were bored on NCL, but it was a family trip so had to go. So many things were so, so bad on that trip. Never again! We did Freedom for New Year's 2013 and had a great time. Our kids loved the ice skating, Flowrider, etc. How is Christmas at sea? Seems to be more cabin availability for the 12/20 vs. 12/28 cruise... Is Christmas less popular? We looked at Disney but can get 2 balconies for 8 nights, pre-cruise hotel, rental car & first class air for the cost of 1 balcony & 1 interior on DCL. So, back to RCL it is. Any advice for making a great Christmas cruise? Kids will be 11 & 14 this time. Thanks!

come over to our Christmas Cruise roll call and join in!!

  2. Just checked my reservation as I was going to get my own insurance when I noticed my Cruise care ins went UP from $178 to $318 AND my fare went up per person from $1282 to $2109!! WTH !! Called but they said I had to call back because once I go on the website it takes a half hour at least to unlock. I just did a mock booking and it prices at $1125 !! Im SOO over this website changing everytime I look at it!!:eek:

  3. Since I found out Cruise care no longer covers airfare I have been searching for another insurer before my final payment date of Sept 21st. With the predicted bad winter coming up I want to make sure airfare is covered since its pretty expensive over Christmas holidays. It looks like Travel Guard Ins is the best for the price so far. Anybody have any other suggestions and reviews of travel ins companies they might have had to use??

    Thanks In Advance!

  4. Sounds like a great idea to me! I hate going to the pool and have to carry that seapass card. Where do I put it ?? Have to carry a big to put it in. This way I can just go with a towel and Im set. Nothing says you have to wear the wristband all the time. Put it on a lanyard or in your purse if you prefer. We use these sometimes on bike rides and Ive seen men carry them by putting them on their belt. Still has easy access to swipe :p

  5. oMG..while packing a few years ago on Explorer, I put some of my rings, (gold w/diamonds, emeralds), in the safe while it was open, intending to put them in my carry on when I would exit the ship. Well..I FORGOT them and didn't realize it until the next day after landing home in Indiana. I called the cruise line, never expecting to see them again, and gave her the info. She told me it would take a few days for the inventory left behind to go thru. She assured me that lots of expensive things get left behind a lot and get turned in. About a week later here comes a package in the mail with ALL MY JEWELRY!! I could not believe it! I wished after, that I had left my room steward much more $ than I tipped!!

  6. Memories..Teaching my DH how to snorkel in St John and after he snorted half the ocean he finally caught on. Then on another cruise w/friends he played was the official snorkel guide for them in Cozumel..LOL !!:D

The weirdest and funniest was losing ONE lens of my bifocal glasses over the side of the ship into the ocean! It just popped out!! Then trying to read menus ect the rest of the trip with one lens !! I always bring an extra pair now!!

  7. Cruises with to many kids are much more fun then cruises with to many whiny seniors. With kids you have active parents around the ship contributing to the fun with seniors you have clogged halls piss and moan attitudes that everyone is rushing them. That is until it's time to disembark all of a sudden they all move like gazelles to exit. Love kids dislike seniors.

lol!! All gazellas to the exit ramp!! :D Thanks for the great visual

  8. NO DO NOT check your booking, that is what is is making the system go into error, give them a day or two ( year or Two ) to sort out the glitch !!

OMG..I have been trying to smash that bug on my screen for awhile!! LOL

Anyway..their answer was they are working on it. They said that was the price for the hump cabin which I had inquired about once. I am 2 cabins away from the hump and they want $400 more per person?? Are they nuts!!

  9. I cannot figure out how to find my thread, after I ask a question or whatever on here. The only way I have found is to find a posting by me somewhere, click on my name and go to see all postings by this user. Usually when I go back to the boards to find my posts and answers I cannot find them!! Please answer soon before I lose this thread also..LOL

    Thanks!!

  10. My mother who was travelling with us was taking an inordinately long time to get dressed for dinner. We knocked on her cabin door at intervals to be told she would be ready soon. Eventually she appeared but looked very hunched up, stooped... bent over!! It was if she had suddenly lost a couple of inches in height. Now struggling to walk down the corridor, I asked was everything all right. When she told me, I giggled for hours (indeed I still smile to this day).

The dress she was wearing was styled so it had a dropped waist i.e. the waist sat level with her hips. To facilitate hanging, it had two thin ribbon cords attached to the inside waist of the dress which you then hooked over the arms of a coat hanger. My mother for some reason thought these ribbons were straps of some sort which needed to be worn and had put her arms through them. Given that they weren't very long they were pulling her shoulders down. I honestly don't know how she had managed it in the first place. In the end we had to cut her out of the dress.

    That is hilarious!!

  11. The towel clips are great for use in the cabin, the beach or the pool deck. We included the tooth brush covers that are the sanitizer (sold in stores like Bed, Bath & Beyond), lanyard, cooling towel which turned out to be a HUGE hit with everyone because it was so nice at the pool, beach and on excursions in the sun, favorite bottle of wine (especially since they can now carry two bottles on board in their carry-on), the plastic wine glasses (not the flimsy disposable ones) to have out on the balcony for their wine.

    What is a "cooling towel"???
