  1. On the last day of a recent cruise on the Epic, I was walking around the ship taking photos. I wanted a high vantage point to take some pool pictures, so I took the outside elevator up to deck 18. Eventually I made my way to a really nice sun deck right at the front of the ship that had padded loungers and chairs..I didn't notice any signs saying this was a restricted area (Haven) but I did see signs indicating that this was a quiet zone. I would just like confirmation that this sun deck is available to the common folk.

  2. We just got off the Epic too. Don't understand all the negativity. There are plenty of areas to sit with ocean views. Pool deck, sun decks and the buffet (you don't have to eat) are a few examples. The staff are outstanding, the food good and the bathroom issue is not an issue at all. We have another cruise booked in February on the Epic and we are looking forward to it as much as all our other cruises on NCL.

  3. I can understand having a dress code in one of the specialt restaurants on each ship (Ocean Blue, Bayamo, Le Bistro) but not in a MDR. It really does contradict their free style cruising concept "do what you want, when you want". But at the end of the day, I just want to know what to wear.

  4. I didn't realize that the Manhattan Room on the Epic has a dress code requiring men to wear long pants (I was refused entry last week). Shorts are fine on the Breakaway class ships but not the Epic. I think NCL should standardize their dress code policies to make them consistent on all ships.

  5. We were on the Nov. 25 cruise. What slowed our embarkation was the shuttle drop off system that put vehicles into a queue at the drop off points. We sat in line for over a hour. We were picked up at our hotel at 11:00 am but didn't get on the ship until about 2:30 pm. The registration process would have gone more quickly if NCL had more staff directing people to agents in the registration line. There were lots of agents open but people were not directed to them.

  6. I think a lot of cruisers need to get a life. People worried about someone seeing their shadow - really. I guess these people must be mortified going through body scanners at airport security. The Epic is a great ship with great staff, entertainment and food. Is the washroom set up a little quirky- yes, but that's what makes travelling fun. If you don't like to experience different things, stay home, you'll be much more comfortable.

  7. Another positive vote for La Cucina. My wife is part Italian and an exceptional cook. The dishes at La Cucina compare favourably with my wife's repertoire of classic Italian recipes (no restaurant on the face of the earth can top her tiramisu). Cagney's is overrated. The steaks are consistently overdone and the service is slow. My wife likes Le Bistro while I find it a bit pretentious. Teppanyaki is fun. We are trying Maderno for the first time on our Cruise next week on the Epic so we'll so how that goes.

  8. We have been assigned a PrivaSea room, cabin 12009 on the Epic. I understand the room is located in the front hull of the ship and has an enclosed balcony with a large porthole like opening. Not sure I like this layout compared to a standard balcony. Has anyone cruised in a similar cabin on an NCL ship and what was your opinion?
