  1. I've regularly posted during the frequent threads about shipboard water that we drink it because the quality is tested more often than tap water at home & for us it's perfectly safe to drink.

Instead of bottled water, I use a refillable Brita filtered water bottle in the gym whether at home or traveling and only use bottled water in port. That's my prerogative but I'm not being critical about anyone who prefers to do things differently.

The number of cruise days isn't really pertinent to the water safety question. And between my cruises & a couple of years in the USN, I'm also still alive after drinking shipboard water for several years at sea. ;)

If you read the fine print on most bottled water it is just tap water - some of the more expensive are filtered, but (and this is my opinion) the ships water is more pure than any bottled water you can buy - anyway I am done posting on this thread - no one wants to hear the facts

  2. Still waiting?

As others have pointed out, there are several sourced of shipboard freshwater...

A/C condensate, flash evaporation, reverse osmosis and bunkering.

Your claim that "The ships potable water is seawater desalinated" is false.

In discussion in another thread, a poster said some water is taken on board.

    You replied "I know"

Now you post again that "The ships potable water is seawater desalinated"

No further point in attempting to have a conversation with you.

BTW, what name did you previously post under?

    Never posted under another namr

This board has me convinced that the ships water is unsafe to drink - however it is the same water and ice they serve at the dining table and the same water they use in cooking. I will continue to use it and take my cjances

  3. Hopefully the Chief will respond about water from Mexico but here's his post about sources of shipboard water which is more than your claim that it's only desalinated water.

So are you saying the ships water is or is not safe to drink? we have been drinking it for 506 days and are still alive??

  4. There is not an unending supply of potable water when one is in Mexico though. Most people I know bring their own supply of water with them for the day. [emoji57]

Probably a dumb question but does Princess ration the water when in Mexico?? What do they use for pools, cooking, showering etc when in Mexico - Just asking???

We have 506 days on Princess and have never had a problem with water rvrn when in Mexico??

  5. Water is bunkered as well.

On some itineraries, there isn't enough waste heat to produce the required water.

Your posts seem to contradict your earlier posts. I'm not sure if you're sincere,

or just trying to cause trouble.

I did not contradict my posts - Princess is not going to mix Mexican or other bad water with their pure desalinated water - I am not trying to cause trouble - I will accept your prompt apology

  6. How about our family needs SEVERAL bottles of water during the day while on excursions in countries whose tap waters aren't safe to drink? Would you feel comfortable drinking unfiltered tap water in Mexico? Apparently you've never experienced an illness due to drinking contaminated water.

Just because the ship is in an unsafe water port the ship water comes from the sea and is desalinated - however you can lug several cases of water if you want or buy bottled water from Princess

The ships potable water is seawater desalinated - so there is an unending supply -

  8. Celebrity is supposed to get at least some parts of the RCCL system soon - it's not just about what people signed up for, a key part of the system is that the server (this is tailored to flexible dining) gets a little slip that says things like 'allergic to shellfish, hates tomatoes, has soda card, drinks pepsi', so that when we are seated the server often just brings us 2 pepsis, etc. It also allows them to track usage of venues better, as well as order trends. The ability to screen out reservations, etc, is a potential positive side effect.

The question was for Princess not Celebrity or RCCL

  9. Technically, Princess allows Traditional diners to go to the Anytime dining. As one Hotel Manager said to me, "They will be accommodated." There are times when for medical or port tour reasons people need to eat earlier or later than their assigned time. The vast majority of Traditional diners don't go to Anytime but they can if they want.

I prefer to go to the buffet rather than going to Anytime. But it's a personal choice.

Sorry Pam wrong answer - just thinl of the logistics mess that would happen

  10. I'll give you an example from my food purchases, Tony. About 3 years ago, the sirloin flap meat that we buy the most was about $6.80lb. This is for choice "peeled". Now it runs about $8.75-9.25lb. We have discovered a New Zealand flap that was about $5.30lb. It's now gone up to $6.50lb. Higher, but still a better deal. I'm sure that "Carnivore Corp" uses mostly Sysco/US Foods for their vendors. We buy most of our meat at "Restaurant Depot".

Unlike Sam's Club/BJ'S/Costco, Rest. Depot ONLY sells to food service businesses like restaurants & caterers. This is why cruise lines are cutting back on the steaks. In CG(we both know)the quality has gone down from Choice to Select to Standard. At least on the Celebrity Eclipse they still use choice, but the entrance fee has gone up. They've actually experimented with selling "Prime" on a few ship for another $25 surcharge over the current $45 charge. Hard to say where it's going.. A lot of meat is now going to China, along with a lot of our New England Lobsters. My Partner is Chinese & his reply is simple: "If we want it, we will buy it, No matter what the cost" I'm afraid it's not going to get cheaper anytime soon, unfortunately.

We have 506 days on Princess and 7 on Celebrity - Celebrity food is a step below McDonalds

My dad was a pro meatcutter but I do not know what a "flap" is - please enlighten me.

BTW - we buy all of our strip and ribeye at Sams and they are the best except for prime which is hard to find and when found is not in my pay grade
