This is why we're booked on an August 2024 Japan cruise on Celebrity, Japan isn't easy for celiac travelers! If anybody does this cruise I'd love to hear your gluten free experiences!

Thank you! Europcar wasn't on my radar, it looks like there is one that's a 33 minute walk from the cruise terminal (Europcar, Skútuvogur, 104 ReykjavÃk, Iceland). Is this the one you are talking about being full-service? Or the one downtown? Great tip on reading the manual!

I can't find anything on the Celebrity site. I saw an old thread that said you can book a cruise and then change your mind (before final payment) and use your deposit towards another cruise by just paying a $100pp change fee. Can anyone confirm that? Can you point me to where it would be on Celebrity's site?

Can I ask where you rented your car in Reykjavik? We are doing the same this August, there looks to be a Budget and Avis that are a 30 minute walk to the port, I'm wondering if there are any options closer or something I'm not thinking of.

How is Europe Cruise with kids?
CruiseMelissa replied to parkbr's topic in Royal Caribbean International
It's a FANTASTIC way to travel with kids, unpack once and see the world! We've did Italy/France/Spain when my kids were 6 and 8, Baltics 11 and 8 and we're doing Greece and Montenegro on Explorer this summer, they'll be 10 and 12. There are definitely less kids on these itineraries but there are also a bunch of kids from all over the world which my kids LOVE. -
Ravenna to Venice with royal transfer
CruiseMelissa replied to grannybee's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Same here, I booked r/t transfers. From Venice City Center to Cruise Port, and then Cruise Port to VCE. This is for Explorer of the Seas 6/25 cruise. It was $103pp for the r/t. Our Venice city center shuttle leaves at 9, they said we make arrangements for the return to the airport when we're on the ship. -
Google maps hasn't been very helpful for this. Has anyone rented a car near the Reykjavik cruise port? Which companies are there? Our transatlantic ends there and we'd love to rent a car to explore while we're in Reykjavik for a few nights.

Air2Sea Refundable Fare/Final Payment Date
CruiseMelissa replied to CruiseMelissa's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Even if you pay your final payment early? -
If you have a refundable fare with Air2Sea, is the refundable deadline the date your final payment is due or the day you pay your final payment? If you make your final payment early for miscellaneous reasons, are you then out of luck if you want to cancel/change your flight? Or do you have the extra time because your final payment wasn't due yet. Example: Final payment due March 27 You pay it on March 13 Can you still make changes to the flight or get a refund between March 13-27 Ridiculous question, I know... please indulge me 🙂

Is there an area that we should head to to pick up an Uber? I imagine chaos with lots of passengers leaving the ship, how does one connect with an Uber at POM?

Sailing on Explorer next year but want to book flights now. Bologna airport is so much closer to Ravenna but I know Ravenna is billed as their "Venice Port" so I wasn't sure if they would only offer shuttles to Marco Polo airport? There are flights out of Bologna that I'm interest in and it's only an hour drive away but would love to book something through RCCL because we've had great experience doing that in the past at other ports.

Upgrading cabins after boarding?
CruiseMelissa replied to NeepierRoad's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Yup, Voyager of the Seas last month. It was a Baltic cruise and not at full capacity. We had inside connecting rooms and upgraded on board to balcony connecting rooms for $250 per cabin. When we first approached the desk they wanted us to do it via the app and as an onboard "RoyalUp" but once I explained the complication of needing connecting cabins, the guest services person manually put it through the system. -
Dietary Restrictions on ASIA itineraries?
CruiseMelissa replied to CruiseMelissa's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Thanks! We've done a couple of European cruises and they've had tons of gluten free options...but there are also a lot of Europeans that have celiac disease 🙂 I appreciate your response! -
We're seasoned, Diamond-level cruisers on RCCL that love the fact that my daughter with celiac disease can travel and eat gluten-free safely, it's one of the top reasons we cruise. I'm in love with the long Asian itineraries on Spectrum next year. When a ship shifts over to Asia, do they still cater to dietary restrictions that are more prevalent in Americans than Asians? Or does it maintain company standards no matter where it is? I know I can email special needs, and I'm sure they'd say the chef will work with us.. but I'm looking for real experiences. I fear we'd get there and the options would be grilled chicken breast and a salad for 12 nights. She's a kid and loves RCCL gluten free pizza, pasta, bread, desserts and "kid food" along with things I'm sure they'd have on hand like steak and rice. I guess I'm just skeptical they stock these foods for a market where gluten-free isn't important, even if you email weeks in advance as I always do.
