  1. just checked this sale out - for a 1A veranda on norwegian fjords next May - you effectively pay an extra £210 (gbp) in total  and get the drinks package, gratuities (worth £170) and $140 (dollars) OBC  - so not too bad a sale - however compare the cost now with those perks at £3,778 to the price we paid when we booked back in March - £2,678 (including CBP and $300 OBC) and its effectively £1,010 more than it was - which makes it not that much of a sale !!

  2. i called celebrity UK today to cashe up my taxes refund and FCC for the norway cruise that didnt go ahead on 9th May - the cruise was cancelled by celebrity back in March. was told the cancellation had been actioned this weekend and FCCs issued so should expect to see funds back on card and email with FCCs any time now. i asked why i received an email in march telling me the taxes should be with me in 10 days and FCC by 13th May and was told that initially when cruises were cancelled the email was sent out and the cruises cancelled off the system but that meant they couldnt go in and issue refunds against it - so instead they have had to go through "1.2 million" (so he said !!) cruises manually and issue refunds and then they can do the cancellations which is why its taken so long - now just need to wait and see if he is right and we get things this week....

Maybe.  If someone coughs or sneezes as you walk past each other.  Timing is everything.

so thats assuming whoever coughs or sneezes doesnt cover their mouth/nose - and you honestly think that if someone coughed or sneezed without covering and you were 2m 10cm away that you wouldnt be splattered??? the risk is never going to go away and saying its too dangerous to walk past someone within 2m of each other is just ridiculous to even think of ever being achievable.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but a TA posted this on the Royal Caribbean boards. They said it was from Celebrity.

“Anyone who made the voluntary decision to cancel their cruises prior to the announcement of voyage cancellations will remain with what they agreed to at the time of cancellation. “

Quite right...they obviously chose not to wait it out ...too keen to cancel and therefore should remain with what they originally opted for

Yes, that's when it would be an issue.  If you're before final payment you can take advantage of any lower price or better offer.

no - we cant though - im in the UK so cant get advantage of lower prices/better offers. been watching the price of our cruise to see if it there was ever an option of a better cabin at not much increase but none so far. so was just wondering if after final payment, once prices do tend to drop - whether i would still be able to pay the difference for a better cabin - thanks

As far as simply asking for a free upgrade, I wouldn't expect that to happen.

When you can upgrade for little additional expense is in this situation:

You've booked, and paid an amount for a particular room.  Lets say $4000.00 for Sky Suite.  Then prices drop as the sailing nears, and a Celebrity Suite (an upgrade) is now $4050.00.  You could pay the difference and upgrade.  One fly in the ointment is that most offers close to sailing include no perks, so you would likely lose any perks you had on the original booking.

Can you do this if its after final payment too ??

  7. If I've booked a trip with celebrity and paid with my OBC....if I cancel that trip do I get the funds simply added back into OBC.? Price has dropped so thinking of cancelling and rebooking .....

  8. got to admit - if prices stay this high now there's no way we will be booking another cruise. Just looked at the price for our cruise we already have booked for Nov 2020- we paid £4,316 for a hump veranda cabin, including classic drinks, gratuities and £200 OBC. The veranda cabins on the new pricing are now £6,338 if i factor in the same things  - and I dont' think that's a hump one either. Its ridiculous

  9. Been monitoring the price on a daily basis on a Nov 2020 cruise to Japan  as I wanted to book a room for my son, but due to the fact that they charge you double occupancy I wasn't really happy to pay the price. Its been going up and down since I started checking - started at £2,402 but then went up to £2,872 ( and that's for an inside !) Dropped down again to £2,602 this week, but checked this morning and its dropped down to £1,800 !! That's  £800 pounds off overnight !! Jackpot!

jojo...I know this would actually cost you more not less but have you considered booking a CS or RS where there is a separate living area with a sofa bed? We have done this with our adult son and it has worked well (especially RS S class where there is an extra toilet and sink)....Privacy for everyone at night but a great shared space during the day and fabulous perks that are of significant value.

Alternatively if you are sailing M class and near to sailing date you could phone and see if they have any family veranda cabins they will release to a group of three (normally for 5)....Again this would offer two rooms and a big balcony much cheaper than a suite...

yes - we're sailing on millenium - i did look at suite but its like 11000 for 3 people......

I have seen this question before on these boards over the years.  One thing that I wonder, is whose name and address and passport number would you use for the second (non-existent) passenger?

In answer to the original poster's question, contact an experienced travel agent and ask for their advice.  They have seen all the ways passengers and Celebrity work around the rules.

    Good luck!

Thank you.....the second passenger details wouldn't be an issue as I would just put  my other offspring details in as the other passenger....and before anyone says it...no I cant just take that other offspring...😁

You may have missed OP's point.    Evidently there is a promotion (possibly just in UK)  with 2nd passenger 50% off.

While I've not seen the promotion, usually when I do see it, they raise the price just before the "sale" and then discount to the same price as it would be for tow regular fares.

No promotion at the moment but they usually have one at least once a year.....maybe they will raise the price just before.....they didnt the time we took advantage of it previously ...ended up cancelling...losing deposit...rebooking and still being £500 better off. I'll keep my eye out and then decide what to do...thanks again
