This reminds me of trying times we had in 2022 to get into Chile and get a "mobility pass". Covid!
We were not even allowed into Brazil or the Falklands. It took forever and there was NO help to navigate their strange requests. We also had to present proof of insurance coverage in case we got sick.
This time I am Not sure seeing the Iguassu Falls on Brazil's side for a few hours is worth the hassle.
I loveketo....we did that cruise and had a wonderful time...we had $$$$ vouchers from Covid cancellations so we continured on once we reached Barcelona and went to Bergen and then back to Amsterdam. We had a terrific time, felt very safe at the beginning of the cruise with masking and daily testing....but when the restrictions were removed Covid came aboard and there were many in quarantine but we managed to stay healthy!! It was a great way to spend 2 months aboard the Viking Jupiter!

Following your crossing with great interest. We did Buenos Aires to Barcelona in March 2022 and would actually like to repeat this trip sometime soon, as Brazil, Senegal and Morocco were not open for business at the time, we missed Punta del Este (a replacement for the Brazilian ports) because of high winds, and we spent the first 10 days in quarantine! So please keep reporting on your experiences!
Regarding the use of former prisons, we’ve experienced a few good examples over the years - Dornoch Jail in Scotland was also turned into shops selling clothes and arty gifts in 2000, in Ribe (Denmark) we spent a couple of nights in Den Gamle Arrest, the former prison, in a very small cell, and a while ago I attended a meeting in the Stirling Old Town Jail (also Scotland). Great idea turning these old buildings into something useful and attractive.
We were on that crossing with you! We too will one day probably repeat that TA. We had done the Souht America cruise before the TA and it was wonderful.

Haha no doubt! My spouse and I really dislike shared tables for dining. I suppose we are both a bit introverted...but we do like socializing in the lounge/bar areas! 👍
Do NOT take a Viking River Cruise. Tables for 2 are non-existent. 2 on the Aquavit terrace that are impossible to get.

not a fan of Auquavit! doubt the COLD will enhance it! At least there won't be a fish to kiss!

A number of years ago we did an Amazon River cruise and applied easily for an e-visa! Seems like Brazil is going backwards!

hoping that is true. we are only going for a few hours to the Brazil side of Iguaza Falls one day...won't be paying $185/pp to go.

I think the form is available now...I was so hoping it was pushed out another few months we go late January.

when we did the west to eat TA on the Jupiter there was an artist who had sessions many days and the participants produced some lovely paintings...they even had a show on deck three! another cruise had many crafts that were lead by staff member. Maybe they could not entice anyone for your cruise!

I wonder where they took her once she got to Ushuai, not sure about their medical facilities.

Switch to May 1...would love to share tours with you!! Our date docks in Bangor instead of Belfast so I am looking for Giant's Causeway private tour.
from FB group someone posted this suggestion for Highlands https://www.shorexcursions.co.uk/?fbclid=IwAR0wx2rYU-46vNm4x9Lf1PsH6j3bZf03yEy-OX4gh2aSoAUmhA_jWCOsQ4M

I wonder if the coastguard charges for transport from a ship to hospital?

they have your name on a list but they might let you go with the group to be nice! When we arrived in Madrid we were put in multiple cars NOT a bus or van.
-
successfully used it but we did not have any other promotions that our cruise qualified to use!

DH dove Bali on the world cruise. He said diving there was fabulous (he’s hooking up with the same dive company who took them earlier this year, and wanted to go back). One of our trips each year is a dive trip, This is really the only time we have, and the few times he dove on the world cruise wasn’t a sufficient fix for him.
The visa issue complicated things by needing to apply for 2 visas, so that made the decision for him. We are already going in 3 weeks before the cruise. Angkor Wat’s going to have to be another trip.have you done the Mekong River? ...we did not do it with Viking ( they have new boats now so we would choose viking today) . One of our absolutely Best Trips!

We wanted to cross the border with a private tour company form one side of the falls to the other...I wonder if there will be a way to do that? I think we will be staying on the Argentina side but those of you with cruises is another matter, you sure don't want to miss multiple ports.
