  1. Today one can wear a thong with flip flops.
  2. How about shorts with grey Crocs (the original) with navy blue knee socks with ducks on them.
  3. @amelia3171. Thanks. I tried to do the same thing for my personal use but they were so blurry i just deleted them. Some of the wines are different from our cruise on the Sea. But like your list, there were no whites by the glass from France or Germany and more reds per country.
  4. The old wine list for premium wines by the glass was easy to photograph and post as the reds and whites each had 2 pages and the rose a quarter page. On our 2/23 cruise the new wine list was organized by country, listed all the wines by the bottle both red and white and their cost. If a wine was offered by the glass from that country, then it showed $8.00 per glass. The only wines offered as part of the SSBP were the by the glass priced ones. All the others had an * with notation that they were not part of SSBP. There were many pages to look through. Sometimes only 1 white and 1 red per country were offered by the glass. If you want to purchase a bottle and know what country, it is easy. If you want to try different wines by the glass, the new list is a pain.
  5. If you really like your flights, ask them to ticket you and get your ticket numbers. Then you can choose your seats.
  6. Beware that your flights could change unless they are ticketed. Its my understanding that Viking does not ticket unless your trip is 60 to 100 days out UNLESS you have Air Plus. If you have Air Plus you can request ticketing at any time. However, if you find something you like better, then you pay a penalty to change. You cannot select seats or purchase extra legroom ones unless you are ticketed.
  7. If all you want is 1 night at a hotel before boarding just in case there are flight delays, try the airport hotel. Friends stayed there because it was the only place they could find that was $200 or less ($199). They arrived at 3:30 pm, checked into hotel, took Uber to have a great Puerto Rican meal at an uncrowded restaurant right on the water in Pinones, slept at hotel, had breakfast and took taxi to ship boarding right after 11 am. Got there before the noontime Viking pre extension buses arrived and had the whole day on the ship or to explore OSJ.
  8. There is a Sheraton across the street from the port. It is convenient to the docks and walking in Old San Juan.
  9. In 2023 Pier 4 in Old San Juan was used. In 2021 we arrived at Pier 1, the closest to the Sheraton but it is currently under rennovation.
  10. The Vigur Island tour has puffins. It is the most popular optional tour on that stop. You most likely won't get a private tour to the island and be back before time required to be on ship. Visitation to the island is strictly controlled if the same family owns the island - as it should be. The Skalane Center tour has lots of birds including puffins. It was a delightful excursion. Boat trips around Heimey in the Westmans Islands see puffins. We could not stop due to weather but others on earlier cruise said they saw them high up on the cliffs but that's it. Might be better to see them from on land if there is an excursion like that.
  11. This has been a very educational thread for all of us and hopefully for Viking. Passengers must tolerate true service dogs on board as the rights of the disabled have priority over those who have allergies, fear of or just don't like dogs. I truly hope that Viking closely screens service dog requests, establishes a code of conduct for dog behavior as well as penalties for owners violations and that the staff on board monitors the situation. Then it is up to us to decide if we wish to sail Viking on the off chance that there may be a service dog on board. Those who are allergic to dogs or afraid of them have a tougher choice then I do.
  12. I found out about the 30 day rule from a Viking agent then read about it in one of the lengthy documents or FAQ or somewhere on Viking. It's no secret.
  13. I don't recall because we didn't need one. But I have the Viking Daily which states there was a shuttle bus starting at 8:30 am with last bus at 9:00 pm. The drop off/pick up point was the Plaza Hotel near the beginning of Florida Street. It was from the port terminal and an inter-port bus had to be used to get there.
  14. We ended our Viking cruise in BA and the ship overnighted there a night before we disembarked. The port is very industrial and can host several cruise ships. Excursion buses could not come to the ship so a port shuttle bus was necessary whether you were on a V excursion, a private or on your own. There were different shuttle buses to get to V excursion buses and to the main Port building if you were independent. We had a private excursion and had no trouble finding our guide at the terminal. There was also a line of taxis on the curb outside terminal. The terminal was okay and much nicer then the one in Valparaiso where we boarded. This was 2020.
  15. So sorry to hear. Covid positive is definitely a medical reason.
  16. Who wants to go on a cruise? Raise your paw. Loves people, other dogs, cheese and sleeping at food of bed.
  17. True story here. I work with an animal rescue organization and we were slowly befriending a stray on my road. A lady down the road has an "emotional support" dog and drove by us with her dog in the back seat. The window was down and the dog leaped through it, attacked and killed the dog we were trying to rescue. When asked how could she let that happen and looked for some explanation or remorse, she said her dog thought the stray was threatening her that is why her dog killed it.
  18. Just curious. Did you quarantine on ship or have to disembark in a foreign country.
  19. We had vouchers and they clearly stated that once used they could not be transfered to another cruise.
  20. Yes our new culture of trying to get away with whatever you can.
  21. It does seem that Viking could make some notification to passengers that service animals are on board without disclosing a particular disability or shaming the guests with service dogs. Many people do not know that they should not attempt to pet or otherwise engage a service dog. There are many people who love dogs and miss their pets when traveling. A simple announcement in the first Viking Daily could read - we are delighted to welcome 2 service dogs on this cruise - please know that they are working dogs - although their owners may welcome questions and discussion from interested people about their dog, please do not attempt to pet the animals or distract them from the task they are trained to perform. That way other guests won't be suprised to see them on board and they will know how to react to the dogs. Or am i totally off base here.
  22. Chengkp75 suggested a Service Animal Code of Conduct be established by cruise lines which would outline proper and expected behavior. If the code was public, we could all know it and see whether or not the dog exhibits the proper conduct and the handler enforces it.
  23. Well hopefully Viking does not need cats to take care of the rats.
  24. Final fling? Our next cruise is Europe 2024 and was hoping same. Thinking the one after that might be Panama Canal 2025.
  25. Elizabet Jeckle at Iconic Buenas Aires (iconicbuenasaires.com)does tours where you can have a drop off at the airport afterwards. Its a business she runs with her daughter. We used her in 2020 right before the covid shutdown. Her tours are great. She is the guide and has a driver which is nice. We were dropped off at different locations, were able to walk around with her and she would tell him where to meet us. No time spent on looking for parking.
