  1. We too are just off the same sailing on the Equinox. We were in a veranda cabin and could not have had better stateroom attendants. We ate most nights in the MDR and agree that sometimes the food was just okay. Some nights it was great, but the service was always top notch! We also thought the entertainment was very good. Ship was in excellent shape!

  2. Well thanks everyone for all your answers. Decided I will just have to suck it up and earn my way on Celebrity to become elite. We prefer X over Royal and since we don't sail in suites it would take us another 4 cruises to get to Diamond on Royal. I really don't see that happening right now.

  3. Ok I'm really confused. The X website says that after one 12 night cruise in a Veranda cabin I have 60 points. I am platinum on RCCL. Is that where the points came from? Do both my DH and I get points? So after our next cruise,

We should get 12 x 3 (veranda) x 2 =72 more points added to our 60 from our first cruise? So with this equation, my platinum status will not help us get to Elite?

  4. We sailed on the Constellation in May 2013 and the Sapphire Princess in Sept 2013. The difference is night and day. Celebrity is so much better from the service to the food to the crew. We never saw any officers on the Sapphire but they were everywhere on the Connie. Princess' buffet is not nearly as good as Celebrity's but the MDR is comparable, however the homemade ice cream served everyday in the buffet on Celebrity cannot be beat. We are never bored on a cruise most times there is too much to do and Celebrity meets our needs. We leave in one week for a Med cruise on the Equinox and can't wait. Try both and see what fits you. For us, it's now Celebrity.

  5. Stay with Celebrity! We did our first cruise on X, then 4 months later our 4th cruise on the Sapphire Princess. The difference was big. The food, entertainment, service and crew were all far below what Celebrity had to offer.

We thought the food in the buffet was terrible and I doubt we will ever sail Princess again. The laundry is nice, but seriously who wants to do laundry on vacation. Just pack a few extra items. We are older now and don't do formal nights anymore so we can leave those clothes at home. All of this is subjective and you just have to find what works for you.

  6. We are mid 60s and made the switch from Royal to X two years ago. We absolutely love Celebrity. Royal is a wonderful line and we also loved all the cruises we did with them, but we are older now and really enjoy the ambience that Celebrity offers. We think the food is much better especially the buffet. The service is great and we enjoyed their entertainment. Our first X cruise was about 7 months after our cruise on the Allure. The celebrity ship was older and much smaller and we thought we would be disappointed, but the exact opposite happened. Our next two cruises are on Celebrity and we would only go back to Royal if we were cruising with our grandkids. I think we have outgrown Royal, but they, without a doubt, have a great product.

  7. Wow- this has been the best post! Our first cruise on X was 2 years ago on the Constellation. Before that we mostly sailed with RCI and Princess but after that cruise we fell in love with Celebrity. We thought the food, service, entertainment was better than anything we had previously experienced. Our next cruise leaves 2 weeks from today on the Equinox and I can't wait. I hated hearing all the negative comments about how much X has changed for the worst. Y'all have made my day!!

  8. I see both advantages of private tour companies and Celebrity excursions. On our Baltic cruise we used SPB tours for both Berlin and St. Petersburg and they were great. However we had $1000 obc and needed to use it so for all the other ports we booked with Celebrity and their excursions were every bit as nice as the private tours we took. So it's really your own choice. Like someone else said if you are late and booked with Celebrity, they will never leave you. On one of our recent cruises, a couple of people were left behind in three different ports. Needless to say they were not happy campers, but it was their problem.

  9. We are platinum on RCCL and was very loyal to them but after a rather disappointing cruise on the Enchantment we switched to Princess and decided to book the next several cruises with them. We thought the food was much better. But as the years passed and all the cruise lines began cutting corners, we went back to Royal. In Oct 2012 we sailed on the Aluure and the food was better and the entertainment was great, but we are older now and Royal has definitely become the family cruise line, especially those larger ships. Well we got an incredible offer from Celebrity for a Baltic cruise and decided to give them a try. From the moment we stepped on that ship we knew Celebrity was where we needed to be. The service, crew and yes even the entertainment was better than anything we ever experienced with Royal, but the food on Celebrity won us over hands down. We are from New Orleans and we are definitely picky about the quality of our food and Celebrity totally met our expectations. But you know everyone is different and that's why we have so many lines to choose from, so if Royal is what makes you happy, then that's where you need to be. Happy Sailings!

  10. We've only sailed one time with Celebrity on the Constellation which is a sister ship I believe to the Summit, but we fell in love almost the minute we got on the ship. We were frequent RCCL and Princess cruisers but Celebrity's service, crew, food and entertainment blew us away and we did this cruise about 7 months after sailing on Royal Caribbean's Allure of the Seas. The Allure is an amazing ship and wowed us the minute we boarded so I was pretty nervous about booking the small and much older Constellation, but I worried needlessly. You will love Celebrity. Our next two cruises are on the Equinox in May and the Millenium in August. Celebrity is now our cruise line of choice. Have fun!

  11. We sailed on the Allure 6 months before our first ever Celebrity cruise and it was on the Constellation. Talk about a huge difference in ship size, but we fell in love with X and our next 2 cruises are with them. The Allure is an amazing ship and very high tech. It is definitely worth sailing on at least once. Her itineraries are pretty limited because of her size and we cruise the itinerary more than the ship. Last year we sailed Oceania Marina and we loved it. Entertainment was ok at best, but service and food were outstanding. Sailed on Princess 5 months later and was so disappointed in food and entertainment we probably won't cruise with them again. Have not tried Azamara.

  12. We were also loyal RCI cruisers although not nearly as many as you, but we tried Celebrity on the Constellation and fell in love with X. Our next two cruises are on Celebrity but I would like to sail on the new Quantum. I thought the crew on the Constellation were the best. We also thought the food was a step up, but if you are looking for the wow factor that Royal is famous for, I'm not sure you will find it on the Summit. Since we retired our cruises are based on itinerary rather than the ship. Good luck, I'm sure you will have a great cruise.

  13. Our first Celebrity cruise was in 2013 on the Constellation. The food in the MDR was the best we've had at sea. Everything was delicious and we never ate in any of the specialty restaurants. In 2014 we sailed on the Oceania Marina. We did not care for the choices in the MDR and rarely ate there, but we loved the Terrace Cafe where we could get steak and lobster every night if we wanted. Also most of their specialty restaurants are very good. Food is very subjective and what some people like, others don't.:)
