  1. We just did a Reykjavik to New York cruise on Oceania. They flew us RT on United but several people on board booked their own airfare and because Icelandic Air was cheaper they chose them. Everyone complained about their seats and also they did not get a meal on the flight unless they paid for it.

  2. We did the Adriatic Cruise in October 2016. The weather was beautiful. We sailed from Venice to Malta and had 2 overnights. One in Dubrovnik and one in Malta. The further south we sailed towards the Med, the warmer the weather got. It was very warm in Malta but still had a nice breeze. We love the Constellation and this was our 2nd time on her. Food, service and entertainment were top notch and the itinerary was perfect for us. Lots of Brits and Canadians on board and most nights at dinner we were the only Americans at the table. It was a fun cruise!

  3. It’s been several years since we sailed on RCI. We mostly sail Celebrity and Oceania and neither require suits or jackets for men on formal nights. How does Royal compare? We are considering a family trip on the Liberty out of Galveston during Thanksgiving of 2018 and my sons and grandson hate the thought of formal wear. I know the buffet is always an option as well as the specialty restaurants but the menu in the MDR on formal nights used to be something special that maybe we won’t want to miss.

  4. We just returned from Barcelona 3 days ago. There were two incidences where traffic was held up due to demonstrators but they were quickly disbursed by the police. We had no problems at all. Barcelona is amazing and we had a great visit.

  5. We have sailed on the Connie twice and she is our favorite Celebrity ship. Our first cruise with Celebrity was on her and we decided then Celebrity would be our new cruise line of choice. We have also sailed the S class and while they are newer and really beautiful ships, there’s just something special about the Connie. I would sail on her in a heartbeat!

  6. Our best friends who cruise with us a lot just did a family cruise this past summer on the POA. They stayed in two family suites and she said they had a great time. The only complaint I heard her say was that the food in the MDR wasn’t very good. They ate in the buffet a lot because they have young grandchildren. She also said the suite entitled them to some free meals in the specialty dining where the food was very good. We did Hawaii many years ago on the SS Independence which belonged to American Hawaii Cruises. We also started and ended in Honolulu without those 4 sea days coming and going. IMO this is the only way to see Hawaii. Go and enjoy the Islands, you’ll have a great time!

  7. Anytime we’ve missed a port, the cruise line has always refunded the port charges. If you’re going to continue cruising, get used to missing ports. It happens all the time for various reasons and getting mad or upset won’t change anything.

  8. We're on the Regal cruise that is now going to Martinique and what a disappointment! We'll be staying on the ship. Last time we were there it was awful. I don't blame Princess for missing Dominica. It is what it is! I too would have preferred another sea day but we'll make the best of it.

  9. i have a question I'm hoping someone can help me with.

We are leaving Lisbon on the Marina Oct. 6. We were originally sailing from the Santa Apolonia terminal but today I got an update from Oceania saying that has changed and we will now be sailing from the Lisbon cruise terminal. I'm confused. I thought Santa Apolonia was part of the Lisbon cruise terminal? If someone can explain this to me I would appreciate it. We are taking a taxi from the airport to the terminal. Thank you.

  10. Well you're right pinotlover. I did have my TA contact Oceania for their price on upgrading to PE and it was $1200 pp, while I paid $120 pp. I did not realize that going through Oceania would mean using a foreign airline. Oceania usually puts us on Delta, United or AA. Good to know for future cruises.

  11. You're right! My bad, I did call it premium economy when it is economy plus. What was I thinking? Whatever, I paid extra for the leg room. We recently flew home from NYC in a regular economy seat and I felt like the person in front of me was in my lap the whole way home so even upgrading to get a few more inches was worth the added cost.

  12. We are leaving on Oct 5 for Lisbon to board the Marina. We had to use deviated air since we are staying over in Barcelona at the end of our cruise. I wanted to upgrade my seats to premium economy on our United flight but it would not let me because the seats were only confirmed and not ticketed. I called my TA and asked him to have Oceania book the flights so I could upgrade and he told me the problem in doing that was once Oceania did that they would no longer be in control of our flight, and if it was canceled or delayed for any reason, we would be on our own to get to the ship. So we decided to just chance getting an upgrade after they ticketed the reservation. A few days later they ticketed our seats and I upgraded to premium economy.

  13. I like Celebrity and Oceania. I like the food on Oceania better, but we just got off the Insignia and had a horrible time finding a table in the terrace cafe. Several times we left and went to the MDR which I'm not a big fan of. The problems in the terrace were only at breakfast and lunch. Dinner was never a problem. This was our first time on the R class ships and also the last time. We prefer the O class much more.
