It was back in 2011. I just was sure I recognized your profile. Other than that I can't remember people 🙃

I didn't join CC until 2017, so it was definitely not me. 🙂

I just contacted my PVP day before yesterday, as all of my group WANT to do the Enchanted, and are looking forward to doing the 10 day cruise.

just be advised that the crowd on a 10 day Enchanted was very geriatric compared to a 7 day Enchanted cruise.

Ah, I see, you are a young 81. You'll be fine.

Weren't we on a cruise together? Maybe the Liberty?

I doubt it, since I have no idea who you are. 🙂

Last time we were on Liberty OTS was over 10 years ago, so I wouldn't remember anyone from that cruise anyway. I don't even remember anyone from the cruise we just took 3 weeks ago. Sorry!

  4. they will make you anything you want. Any mixed drink can become a mocktail.

Some things are on the menu: Key West cooler, Choco-Banana, Sunshine Daiquiri, Zero Mojito, Strawberries on Fire.

We really like the Key West Cooler (the adult version is the Ultimate Cooler), Zero Mojito and regular/diet coke mixed with mint and lime. The kid also likes Zero Miami Vice.

Comparing these two lines makes little sense. I have sailed both also.

We haven't yet sailed on Carnival, so I am not exactly comparing the two lines anyway.

That said, we paid the same money for a Celebrity Reflection cruise (8 night, ABC islands) as we did for Carnival Horizon (8 night, ABC islands), so I expect to get at least the same amount of enjoyment out of both cruises, despite the atmosphere and clientele being completely different. We'll see. I'll report back, of course, after we sail in November.

Carnival has gone massively downhill in service, food, and ship upkeep (speaking specifically about the Magic here.)

one more thing - Magic and Celebrity Reflection are only a year apart in age, but Reflection was in top notch shape in April, and the service was beyond great. You can see my review in the signature, if you want.

Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald et al, never age.

sorry, but I don't want to hear Frank Sinatra ever again on a cruise or otherwise. So glad Princess refreshed their entertainment, because we were getting tired of the oldies.

I'll take 90s and newer, please, unless it's Queen or Abba. Maybe, select few from the 80s, but not too much.  I was very pleasantly surprised by the more modern entertainment on Reflection and had a blast at the Queen sing-along.

Its been years since we went on a Caribbean cruise.  I know the temp will be hot but was it so hot that you said never again? We are debating cancelling a booked cruise...I just don't want it unbearable such that we don't enjoy anything.  We are booked for an October southern Caribbean.  Avg temp 89.  Is it heart pounding heat and sun such that you can't/didn't truly enjoy it?

Lol, it was 98F yesterday in ATL, so I'll take 89F with an ocean, somebody making your bed, serving you food, and putting on shows any time.

We just came back from the Caribbean cruise. It was unbearable in Mahogany bay until we got in the water. After that it was pretty good. However, we always go to the beach in ports (or try to) and spend a lot of time in the water. We don't do ruins or zoo trips, because we can't be outside in the heat.

We were on an ABC cruise in April and had a great time. We are gonna be on an ABC cruise in November and will have a great time.

Atlanta is probably hotter in July and August.

it usually cools down by mid-August, but with the global warming, the hope is slim.

  9. the umbrella or shell with 2 chairs were $30.

loungers without umbrellas/shells were free, but nowhere near enough for everyone.

The beach was horribly busy. We were there on Enchanted Princess 2 weeks ago, with a Carnival ship docked in port as well.

the airlift (gondola) was $15 for unlimited rides. On Princess you could book it in advance with OBC.

Nonetheless enjoy Celebrity i too would love to sail on them some day but i haven't reached that age demographic yet where i would enjoy it.

just curious - what age would that be? If that's your photo, then you look to be about the same age as us. And if 69 stand for 1969, as in the year of your birth, then you are older than me and my DH.

We were still under 50 when we tried it this year, along with our teen son. All three of us loved X Reflection. All the entertainment was surprisingly modern for my taste (most of it was from the last 20 years, except for a super duper fun Queen sing along).

There were many people in the 35-55 year range traveling with a bunch of kids and teens on an 8 night cruise during spring break.

I hear the crowd on Edge class is even younger than on Reflection.

We've been loyal to Carnival for nearly 20 years. Our upcoming Alaska cruise is our last with Carnival. We're going to try Celebrity.

We are going to try Carnival for the first time this year, but I just wanted to say - we just tried Celebrity this year as well, and it was great! Now, they are very expensive, and it weren't for their 3rd/4th person free promotion for next year sailings, I probably wouldn't have booked them for 2 more cruises, but only because of the price.

Our April cruise with X was somewhat reasonably priced.

We also like Princess - you could try them as well (newer ships only - Royal Princess and younger).

I love the concept of the Medallion and Ocean Now, but it never ever ever works.

it worked for us all week (several times a day), except for 2 times.

I HATE that big open closet. I hate that the first thing I see when I walk in the room is a mess of hanging clothes and laundry and shoes. I am a neat person and I want everything to be tucked neatly away.

we love it. We can actually access the closet (unlike on MSC, RCI and X) and even leave 2 suitcases in it. I also love it that I can change in that closet hallway out of my teen's sight and vice versa.  It allows for a lot more privacy than the other cruise line's cabins.

Had a hard time getting to the hanging clothes on MSC:

same on RCI Oasis class. Less than a foot of space between the sofa and the closet.

I do dislike the shower curtain on Princess.

I have to go to GS or do a crew chat in the app to get charges for Spicy Margaritas or shots of Jagermeister  (as if I have ever ordered one of those in my entire life!) from my account.

We couldn't see which alcoholic drinks were purchased on our account, only the quantity: 4 out of 15. We never even got to 10 per person, even when I or DH were getting them for both of us. We never had anyone else's drinks charged to our folio.

Then they raised prices so we tried other cruise lines. Now that they are back inline with the prices

it was the opposite for us. Since RCI raised their prices sky high, we are back to Princess.

We like the Hampton Inn Suites Blue Lagoon.

Yes, we like them as well. Stayed there recently and will stay there again in November. We really liked the hotel itself, the location, the Publix and the food places around (we are cheap).

We also LOVED EB hotel, but it is no longer on my company's contracted list, and as such the price isn't what I'd like to pay personally. Great reviews too!

Also, would you recommend I stay in a hotel near FLL or a hotel near the port?

you really-really need to price shop in both MIA and FLL. In the past FLL hotels were cheaper, but it is no longer true.

SAS left us at the port, without providing a reasonable explanation as to why. We were lucky enough to catch a different shuttle.

3 weeks ago Lyft/Uber from Port Everglades to MIA was $60 (3 of us, SUV). It's the same price it would have been in a shuttle for 3 people. If you are alone, you may be better off sharing Lyft/Uber with people or with a shuttle.
