  1. Thank you so much for the menus! Your post is wonderful! Especially when combined with Ludicrous_Speed's photos and reviews of the menu items (apparently, Getaway's menu is the same as Jade's). He didn't post the menus, just the food photos. :)

We are also on Jade's Nov 16th sailing!

I see quite a few items I will be trying in MDR.

The purpose of my post is 2 points:;  1. to hopefully have RCCL reps see this and see how dissatisfied/disappointed there customer is (it would not be hard to figure out who I am) and 2. Direct vacationers to other cruise lines that "take care of there customers".  For a service industry I was applauded of thier lack of concern and the blame they put on me (THE CUSTOMER ).. apparently  it was my fault their security personnel didn't do anything.  They are lucky that I am a trained *** *** ********* and was able to take my wife and children out of a situations that could have been bad. ..   (and for you sarcastic people, yes its good to be trained in combat, thanks for your tax contributions).

you were combat fighting unruly kids who were smoking marijuana and making animal noises?

Here in the St. Louis area we have "Steak n Shake". I'm not sure how far they reach but I don't recall seeing them in the west, northeast, or deep south so I assume it is more of a Midwest thing (correct me if I'm wrong).

Here in the deep South we also have Steak'n'Shake. The restaurants are always crowded.

P.S. I moved south from the "great state of Misery". :)

You've missed the thread of the postings. Almost everyone takes a snack back to the cabin. I have seen pax fill full size shopping bags full of rolls, plates piled high of cheese and hand fulls of jam packets.

well, while I've never seen that happen myself, I could easily assume that they have a large group of people meeting somewhere (or lots of kids) and are bringing snacks for the group.

Heck, there are only 3 of us, but you could definitely see me going back to the cabin with 2 plates piled high with pastries for a BEFORE breakfast treat.

Why do we care so much about what other people are doing with the food, when it doesn't concern us?

    Entree Number Two

    Potato Gnocchi

Served in a pesto cream sauce with sun dried tomatoes and pine nuts. I enjoyed it- the Gnocchi were tender but had a little "tooth" to them. The sauce was good- I'm a fan of pesto. The sun dried tomatoes gave a little sharp tangy kick to the dish. I liked this more than the shrimp entree.

Hubby would love that! He usually gets 2-3 helpings of Gnocchi on cruises.

  6. last year I finally ordered one, mostly for giggles, because I had read in many posts about the robe's rather small size.

    Well, it's true.

I am size 14-16, and the front flaps didn't even close, let alone overlap...

P.S. Yes, I know I am very overweight.

This is a cruise ship, there is no need to stock your cabin's frig. Like you mama told you, don't take more than you can eat.

depends on the situation. Sometimes you need a small packet of milk for your kid at night, but they are only available in the morning at the buffet.

Aww... thanks. Yes, I’ve had a sideways cabin and loved it. Wouldn’t hesitate to book another.

Actually, I did book a sideways inside for a B2B on the Royal in April/May but then I was able to upgrade to a balcony for $100 more and get $600 OBC instead of the beverage package under a Sip ‘n Sail promotion. For me, that was a no brainer.

last year I accidently booked a sideways room (I didn't know about the layout and that the closet is very different), so I was a bit upset. Lo and behold, Princess upgraded us for free to an obstructed balcony.

As stated many times on this thread, NCL does not have a stated procedure on how to select for an upgrade so it is very difficult to figure what to bid.    In my case, I put in a small (rated poor)  upgrade bid for my inside cabin to a balcony.   After final payment, the price on the NCL website for a balcony was lowered to virtually the same as what I paid for the inside.  My bid was not taken,  however when I called I was upgraded from inside to balcony aft for no charge. My booking was direct with NCL.   Sort of surprised (but very happy) that they did not run the upgrade bid program before advertising a lower price.

same here: a free upgrade from inside to OV because the price dropped significantly. And it was AFTER the final payment.

  10. Thank you, Lamchops! I appreciate your information.

I hear the wings at O'Sheehans are very nice. And I hope Jasmine Garden has good offerings.

I greatly prefer Princess for its fabulous food, but this Thanksgiving Princess had unreasonable prices on 2 of the cruises we eyed, and very mediocre itineraries. We decided to give NCL a try since the itinerary is very nice and it's a 10 day cruise for less $$ than Princess's 7 day cruise. I guess we'll be paying for it in other ways, namely, by being disappointed in food. :( We won't starve by any means, but we are traveling with friends who will be even more disappointed in Jade's meager offerings.

P.S. Somebody just posted pics of their Getaway dining escapades, and they definitely had 2 potstickers on the plate. :) I guess Getaway is doing better in the food department.

it was part of the cruise cost... so a "freebie" per say. I am also no expert and I believe I haven't cruised since the new CFO... so I'm not sure about now, but before... the service fee was already part of the cost. I hope it still is.

was it one of the perks you chose out of 5, or one of those short booze cruises with Unlimited Open bar?

Would this be before the cruise or during/after? I also got my GTY which included drinks... but was not charged a gratuity fee or service charge.

did you get a package or is it "booze is included for everyone cruise"? I am not expect on Norwegian, but from what I read: if you get a freebie drink package, you still have to pay 20% daily gratuity on it. I don't know how that works on "all alcohol is included" cruises.

I got off the Jade on September 28 and complained to the f&b officer about the MDR food selection and he said it was a new menu to be rolled out fleet wide. The choices didn’t appeal to me either so we only ate in the MDR 3 times compared to our usual 9 times on 10-12 day cruises.

Could you please elaborate a bit more? We'll be on Jade in about 23 days. Were the selections poor and very few? or the food not delicious? Cold? Yucky? Slow service? Was there seafood? Bread and butter served with dinner?

Was OSheehans better than MDR? In what way, please?

At sea? No internet? No cell service? How did you log on FB with no internet or cell service?

    Free? :o

    Please tell me more...........

on Regal, only Facebook and Facebook messenger are free to use. Your devices can remain in airplane mode, but they'll still catch the ship's wifi needed for FB and FB messenger. Internet packages aren't free.

P.S. We didn't know about free FB until the 4th day of the cruise. It wasn't communicated at all, but when we inquired about still getting FB notifications on our phones while they were in airplane mode, the Regal Customer service staff informed us that it was free!

This happened to me last year, too. NCL hid my sailing from their site, so I searched other travel websites, and was able to see available cabins for our cruise. Hope it works for you! They will probably add your sailing back on the NCL site in a few days.

and they just did. You were right. :)

We are ok with the cabin we got (deck 5, OV, underneath the MDR), but I feel bad for my mom - deck 8, forward inside.

Yeah, I'd love to sit in a dog's fecal material while eating my lunch.

I am going to assume that you don't have dogs, because if you actually had dogs, you'd know that the vast majority of them don't have their butts smeared with fecal matter. The ones that do are usually extremely obese and/or elderly, and the good owners are the ones who wipe their butts.

So, the dog is sitting on a chair, in the Windjammer at a table!!! Lord help me.

what a well mannered dog. I've seen kids and adults behaving much worse than that.

P.S. I want to be on that cruise!

Actually, I'd make it a point to sit closer to them. :) And talk to the dog. Who knows - he might be a better conversationalist than some of the irate, nauseated, angry posters who would loudly demand to be reseated.

That trip was just over $4000 for 4 days. This Christmas we sail 6 days on carnival in a family suite for just over $6,000 (Disney would have been $14,000!). So $1000/day for the family in rooms to fit 5 seem to be the going rate.

surely, you could do better than that. I got an inside room on Allure of the Seas during the spring break for $1,600 for 3 of us (7 day cruise), and an inside room for Thanksgiving for $2,000 for 3 of us on Norwegian Jade (10 day cruise). Just got a balcony for $2,400 for 3 of us on Regal Princess, November 2019 (7 day cruise, free grats and $300 obc).

Yes, I know Norwegian is no Disney, but I'd rather go on 2-3 cruises with other cruise lines than on only 1 super expensive cruise with Disney. Plus, my 7 yo doesn't even care for Disney, but he looooooves cruising.

Did you check other sites? Sometimes NCL hides a sailing from their website, but you can still see the inventory elsewhere.

I've been checking ncl.com every day since I bought this cruise back in September. :) The price kept going up and down, then all of the cabins were sold out completely (this Mon and Tue), and now it's not even on the site anymore.
