Those are great points. I will have to switch cabins because I'm going from an interior to a balcony when my husband arrives, but the new cabin is only 10 cabins down from the old one.

I like the idea of not rushing and driving three hours to Port Canaveral. I still might get off the ship and go into the terminal if they allow it. My husband is arriving with his whole family (brother, mother, nieces, and nephews) for the second leg, and I'd love to see their reactions as they are waiting and then walking up the gangway. Or maybe I'll feel like being lazy and enjoy a mostly empty ship for a bit! The best part is that I can do whatever I want! 🙂

You and I think alike! I want to see my daughter in-law's reaction as she boards her first cruise. Plus, my concern is how will they check in with-out us. Our grandson is booked in my cabin and my husband is with our son and daughter in-law. (We needed to use some future cruise credits.)

A b2b on Harmony would be far easier and a very similar experience. On Harmony I have experienced a lovely turnaround day lunch for consecutive cruisers with wine 😁 (2019 so ymmv)

Thanks Missusdubbya! We are doing a B2B on Harmony in March. My son and his family will be joining us for the second week. Should we stay onboard for the consecutive cruisers lunch or should we try to get off and meet up with them?

Hubby tested positive on the 1/9/22 sailing on Odyssey.  We are currently chilling out in our quarantine hotel, but I was hoping someone here might be able to answer a question.  We got a letter in our quarantine cabin on the last day that said we were getting an FCC for 100% price of the sailing.  We were actually booked on a comp, so am I to assume that we will be getting $0 and no replacement cruise? I thought maybe someone had had a 100% FCC for a cancelled cruise before and may know.

I will give them a call later today to ask about it.  We are supposed to be onboard now using our 2 annual tier offers 😞

    I'm so sorry!😞

I feel like I won the lottery.

One of my offers (comped JS or balcony on a bunch of sailings) was expiring today, and I really hated letting it go. Then, I saw that I'd had a new offer added. Both offers included sailings out of Cape Liberty.

I saw that for the 5-night Canada cruise on Adventure of the Seas that includes Memorial Day for which I had a comped JS offer actually did have one junior suite available. Then, I was able to use the other offer for a second 5-night cruise, this time to Bermuda.

Then, using FCCs that have been burning a hole in my pocket, I picked up a (paid-for) junior suite on the 4-night Canada sailing between the two comped sailings, and I was even able to get the same cabin for the first sailing. (The third sailing of this B2B2B is in a different JS.) Oh, and for some reason, the pricing ended up looking like this:

Hubby's never been to Bermuda, but I did once years ago (Hi, @RFerrington!). Neither of us have been to Halifax, so that'll be new. I grew up in Maine, but I've not seen Bar Harbor since 1980. It'll be neat to go there again.

The only money out of pocket for all three sailings are the taxes/fees and prepaid gratuities. So, if these sailings don't happen (or change my mind about them), I don't feel so bad. (I do wonder whether the FCCs would retain their original sailing date or be updated to the 5/31/22 sailing date to which they were applied.)

    Congratulations!!!

Well NCL just announced a second round of Jan cancellations on 5 of their ships.....let's see if Royal again follows suit.

I'm wondering the same thing. My sister was packing to leave on NCL Dawn (this coming Tuesday) when her TA called her. We are book on Brilliance next month. I hope she sails!

  6. Hi Russ, yes it was Odyssey. Thanks for all of this good information! You hit on the points I need to know. I wondered if the bottom bunk has a railing and if it's close enough to the floor to be safe for him. I watched a video of this cabin and thought the small nook would be great for afternoon naps. We have two balcony cabins for 5 people, but I'm trying to upgrade the 3 of them for more space for the pack-n-play. Thanks again!

Our family of 6 (2 adults and 4 children) have stayed in those family cabins on several ships (both ocean view, promenade view, and panoramic view (before they changed that last one to a "suite" class).  We always enjoyed our stays in those cabins.  Great if you have small children and want to keep an eye on them and want them in the same cabin.  It is also really nice having a huge cabin (non-suite) of double the size of a regular cabin (it feels more like a hotel room than a regular cabin.  If you want some privacy, put the 4 kids in an adjacent cabin and have access through the connecting door.  That way you get 2 bathrooms (which was a godsend with a wife and 4 daughters on formal night).

As for pricing, for one cruise I had an ocean view family cabin for 6 booked.  I kept checking prices and a few months later, managed to switch to three two-person cabins (3 washrooms!!) with a total of about 500 square feet opposed to only 350 square feet in the family cabin.  Even better was the fact that I SAVED $400 by taking 3 cabins opposed to a single family cabin.  Family cabins often have a premium price attached to them because they are very limited.

If being in the same cabin as your kids is important to you, the family cabin is great if the kids are not too old.  Otherwise, I would recommend 2 or 3 individual cabins if your children are old enough for that.

In the end, if you treasure family vacation time together, both choices are a win.

Hi Russ, Remember me from Anthem? Thanks for speaking to us at GS!

I have a chance to bid on a "Ultra Spacious balcony cabin" on Harmony for my son, his wife and their son. My grandson will be 9 months when we sail. Do you think the lower bunk would work for his age? Thanks!

Hi, my wife made prime status on our cruise a few weeks ago.

From what we understand, she should be getting a free cruise (for making prime).

    Questions...

When would that typically show up in her offers?  It has not yet.

Also... is it for any 7-night?  Longer?  Shorter?  Just Caribbean?

    Thanks so much!

Go to clubroyaleoffers.com and put in your last name and Crown and Anchor number. You should see your info. and any offers.

Has anyone else cancelled a refreshment package and repurchased.  I just cancelled mine online and bought at the lower price, but the refund amount it told me was only the price of the package, it did not include the gratuities.  Didn't get an email for the refund or the repurchase of the refreshment package.  I am going to call but just wondering if others have had the same experience.

I cancelled two refreshment packages today and repurchased them for $100 less. I bought several other things but have not received any email confirmations yet.
