  1. We were on the Oct. 5th Grandeur of the Seas cruise. I have been racking my brain for the name of the lecturer that spoke about pirates. Any help would be appreciated

Maybe you could check on the roll call for your cruise if anyone is still reading/posting on it. You could possibly call RC although it's iffy whether they could answer that.

  2. We had a similar situation. We were able to contact the TA during the cruise and she promised she'd take care of it. Contacted her close to the end and again she promised... Nothing, so we contacted one more time when we returned home. She apologized and offered visa gift card for that amount. Guess what... never got it either. One last follow up email couple weeks later to let her know we had not received anything and we're disappointed. No response.

This was the first (and last) time using a TA.

  3. That's great....thank you....mmmm....maybe better to be on deck 6 for a better view if one chooses position carefully

We prefer deck 7 - right in-between You'll like the promenade room.

I agree with your thought about separating the beds in an inside, etc. (that's what we always do) but with this set up - it doesn't give you the same affect as that.

  4. Why does the room with the bed by the balcony better and or a better layout?

It's actually a personal preference (one we prefer). With the bed by the balcony, there's more room to get ready by the closet area.

Some people prefer the couch and desk by the balcony to sit and look out.

There are several threads actually listing room numbers and layouts.

  5. So sorry to hear of your experience. We had an unfortunate experience with him several years ago also. Half way though our private tour, we asked when we would get to the Pitons and he replied ' we're not going there'. He thought we were a different group from a different ship! I will add though that he contacted us when we got back home and apologized and made it right with us. Unfortunately we didn't see the sites we wanted but he did the right thing.

  6. Just found this review and it is awesome! We are currently planning a B2B on Adventure for January or February 2018. We've sailed her before and love the southern caribbean routes out of San Juan. We're trying to get the best of both worlds with different islands like you did. We're actually contemplating RC for one leg and Celebrity for the other. (we've only sailed Celebrity once and don't know much about their ships though) We are beach lovers and SO appreciated all your pictures!

  7. We usually look at the times in port, plus what you've already stated, ports you haven't been to before.

Depends if you like beaches or touring.

We beach in Nassau and St. Thomas, didn't care for the beach in St. Kitts. (we've toured all the islands)

We beach in St. Martin and of course Labadee - SanJuan is usually a tour/visit port (OSJ)

    Half the fun is planning!

  8. I put a 24 hour hold on a Harmony booking. Royal sent me and email saying

"I WOULD LOVE TO ADD AN ADDITIONAL GIFT WHEN YOU ARE READY TO FINALIZE YOUR RESERVATION!"

    Any idea what it is?

I just did a hold and the CVP emailed AND called me today. I actually changed the date of a next cruise but when talking about adding another cruise, she said that very thing.

I jokingly asked if it was a plate of windjammer cookies (referencing the new C&A gift), she said no: it will be chocolate covered strawberries or something similar...

Not to look a gift horse in the mouth but I was truly thinking it would be a little more than that. [emoji848]

  9. We are currently booked on Level 9 on Allure in a Boardwalk Balcony? We prefer Deck 10 or 11 - nothing available as of now........

I know it's on Deck 6 and we are on Deck 9 - thoughts?

Just got off Oasis in boardwalk balcony deck 10. I think deck 9 would be perfect!

We loved this area - no noise at all. It was great to have a less expensive balcony and still have fresh air and a view of the ocean.

  10. Hi all. We really want to sail on RCCL this summer with our 2 kids (6 and 8) and we're finding that booking 1 room for the 4 of us is twice as much as getting 2 cabins. But we are not sure where these cabins would end up being. How would we go about booking connecting rooms? We're trying to book via Costco and I am not sure where to find this option.

If you could tell us what ship you're interested in, (and what type cabin) we can help you with various suggestions. I see your kids are young so you would probably want connecting cabins.

Try looking at the RC website to see what's available before you go to Costco. The deck plans show what rooms connect.

  11. Yes confirm the answer and want to add that I think you may actually enjoy the boardwalk view better, especially the grandchildren (not sure of their ages). Also check to see if the 'eat, drink and play' perk is still available for your dates. Free soda package (2) seems like a better value than the one bottle of wine.

Le us know what cabins you get.

  12. Oasis boardwalk balcony 10313 - LOVED this cabin!

We loved having the fresh air and to see the water view and never heard a lot of noise at all. In fact we were surprised at how little action there was on the boardwalk.

We've had a regular balcony and of course loved it, but it is usually more expensive.

  13. Rather than do more traveling immediately after our flight we stayed at one of the hotels just outside the airport and then used Cortrans to shuttle from the hotel to the port. The service was very good and on time. $20 per person one way. They will also do a round trip that takes you from the hotel to the port then back to the airport after your cruise.

This is exactly what we are doing for our upcoming cruise. -

Taking the hotel shuttle from the airport that night and Cortrans picking up from hotel in morning.

Several hotels options as stated - depending on your family size and budget. Four of us, so we're doing embassy suites.

  14. While it's technically on the menu, we always order the cheese and fruit plate as an appetizer each night that you don't usually see until handed the dessert menu. After a few days they just automatically bring one to us :)

Same with us! it's a great thing to share with the table (instead of filing up with bread/rolls while waiting)

We've also gotten this and taken it back to our cabin for later snacking with wine.
