Just received a call, from our cruise agent, that our July 12, 2025, fifty-two day Soujourn cruise (Dover to Montreal) has been cancelled for "operational reasons."  We have not yet received info from Seabourn (that should be coming within a day) but it has me wondering if SB has sold one of the smaller ships and revamping itineraries.

    Hank

I just saw this mentioned in a Seabourn Facebook group.  I came immediately here to see what was happening.  We are sailing on Sojourn in July/August 2024, so it doesn't affect us--but it made me a bit nervous.

  2. We'll be on a 28 day cruise with Seabourn this coming summer.  I doubt that my husband will take his tux.  He will take a navy blazer as well as a second sports coat and several pairs of pants to go with them.  He prefers to wear bow ties when he wears a tie.  On elegant casual nights, he wears either the blazer or his other sports coat--but that's just him.  He is not the type for a Tommy Bahama shirt.    Everyone is different and we come from different parts of the world and different social cultures (even within the same city or state).  I think it is up to each person to decide what constitute's elegant casual as they understand it.  There is actually quite a spectrum of dress that meets that term (using the SB guidelines) .  As for me, I bring a black dress, some black pants and tops which can be changed up with scarves, jewelry etc.  I bring a few dresses because I am a primarily a dress person.  Other women never wear dresses and that is ok.  I wouldn't let worry about the Seabourn dress code keep me from enjoying a cruise.  No one is going to comment on how you dress and you will always be able to find people who are either more dressed up than you are and less dressed up than you are.

Currently on Explora 1 and each day there are 2 sit-down restaurants open (Asian and Med), along with the buffet offerings.  Plus they now are keeping open a burger bar until 3:30pm on port days for people coming back late from excursions.   While we remain big fans of Seabourn this is one area they need to step it up a bit by offering lunch in the Restaurant on all days.

Of course I couldn't agree more!  I have love our lunches in the MDR.  It's a fairly short menu, but has always been delicious and we like the quiet atmosphere.

@SLSD Sorry I wasn't clear in my earlier post. I was suggesting that if you were on a laptop/desktop instead of a phone, you could log into your Seabourn.com account in a web browser — not the Source app — to get to see (and optionally print) your full itinerary, which shows all your bookings. That's what I did earlier today; it shows me exactly what I want on a single 2-sided sheet of paper.

If you want to do it in the Source app, at the bottom click on Plan, and then in the pop-up menu, click My Itinerary. Except that doesn't work for me currently; it just says "Oops, page not found." I don't know if this is one of Seabourn's temporary glitches or an ongoing one; I haven't opened the Source app since my last cruise!

To do it in a browser:

    • Go to Seabourn.com

    • Click Booked Guests

    • Login to you account

    • Locate your upcoming cruise on the Upcoming Cruises page

    • Click "Manage My Cruise"

    • Click the Itinerary link, and then the Itinerary picture which shows up below

That brings you to a page listing your daily itinerary showing daily arrival and departure times and anything you have booked each day.

    Hope that helps!

Thank you.  I did figure out that Seabourn.com would be from the laptop.  I just have so little confidence in the website that I don't go there very often.  The good news is that I got the information I needed and did a workaround for the App with a Seabourn rep.  Yes, we have a TA, but not a helpful one!  I do appreciate your list of how to go about it on Seabourn.com.

@SLSD If you can do it on a computer rather than your phone, log into your account and go to Manage My Booking. Click on Itinerary and you can just print that page, which will show your ports, excursions, dinner reservations, spa reservations. (I just did it this morning for our upcoming cruise, so I know it currently works! 🤣)

Are you accessing the Seabourn Source on your laptop (which is what I usually use) or just from the SB website?

  6. I spent an hour on the telephone with Seabourn---rebooting the Seabourn Source App. etc. etc.  It still did not work, so they sent me an e-brochure and I worked things out over the telephone,.  Not everything is taken care of, but enough that I can happy about it.

Seabourn is still not able to resolve a birthday dinner reservation on a friend's birthday at the new Solis restaurant.  We have been given reservations thirty minutes apart with assurance it can be worked out after we board.

I had no issues with the Seabourn Source App last year.  It worked fine for me at that time.  I also used to be able to make reservations for four at the TK Grill.  So---not totally pleased with the ease of making plans for our luxury cruise.

I am usually not a griper--but I have had a very frustrating morning with these things.

For booked excursion, try, on the Source App home page, to click on "Plan", then "My Itinerary" and check the dates for which excursions were booked. To find new excursions, on the home page, middle left, there is a link to "shore excursions".

Thank you.  On my phone the screen is really jerky and jumping around, but I think I have found what I need.

I am frustrated that when I try to book an excursion, I get a message saying "try again later". This has been happening for days.

  8. I have some questions about the Seabourn Source App.  I used it without difficulty on our last cruise, but either I have forgotten how to use it or I do not remember how to find a few things.  Where do I go on the App to see which excursions I have ALREADY signed up for?  I'm trying to make a list and see what elese is available, but I am batting zero.  I've looked at the Wallet, the Account, etc.  Any help appreciated.

I did try calling the Excursions desk (1 800 989 3445 but after telling me the call may be recordedm it drops my call (hangs up).  Mr. SLSD says it is beginning to look like a third world (antiquainted term I know) cruiseline.  I'm getting frustrated.

    susan,

the second half of your cruise has been sold out for some time.  I do find the search function for suites when making a booking is very accurate.

    Nancy

I think the issue was finding a suite for both halves of our back to back cruise.  We've been booked for months now.  There were some opportunities to upgrade our suite, but at a ridiculously high price compared to the original price.  We decided to stay where we are which is on deck five.  We have loved deck six, seven, eight  and nine, but this will be our first time on deck five.  We'll try to love it.

Although off topic for this thread, I will respond in case SLSD, you are not aware that you can check suite availability online for your cruise. I’m pretty sure you are savvy with the Seabourn website, but in case you are not aware…Just try to book your cruise online and then use “select my suite”. It will show what is available for each category.  I recently did this for a Seabourn cruise booking with an agent I had not used before.  The suites available online matched exactly what the TA advised me personally.  We could not get the penthouse we wanted so we waitlisted for it, but we were able to secure a nice V3 midship.

I should do that.  This is the first time we have used this TA and have not been happy.

We went on our first Seabourn cruise this year for our 20th wedding anniversary and as we were having a day in the Retreat asked for cold seafood to be served for lunch. A beautiful platter arrived on the day along with accompanying sauces, all washed down with Cattier champagne!  N.B. we were in a V2 suite.

I don't seriously think it matters what kind of suite you are in .  We are in different suites on various cruises depending on price and what is available.  We are not happy with our suite on our upcoming cruise, but, according to our TA, it was the best available.  I have no idea if she is correct, that it is what it is.

.  Obviously if special orders happen too often for too many tables it is likely to mean less good service for the rest of the room and stress for the staff.

Which is exactly why we have never asked for a special meal.  But, we think we might ask for our actually (on that day) anniversary--and probably would not ask again until the next anniversary.  We love great service, but don't ask for special favors because of what you have said.

  13. We've never asked for a special meal on any of our previous Seabourn cruises.  We are considering asking for one special meal next summer (28 day cruise) to celebrate our 48th wedding anniversary. We will be on the ship on the day of our anniversary.  I would be very disappointed if we were turned down because we are not in one of the more expensive suites.  We plan to ask for slow roasted lamb shanks which is a dish we have enjoyed on Seabourn.  We would not dream of asking for something exotic or something the chef did not have experience with.  Hopefully, our request will be accepted.  This will be the first time we have EVER asked for anything special.  I'll be sure to report back on whether or our request is fulfilled.

We usually do not eat breakfast whether on a ship, land vacation, or at home.  Coffee black is my priority. On Seabourn the MDR is usually open at times I am not yet up at if I wanted breakfast - I am on vacation.  When open for lunch and we are on-board much prefer to dine at the MDR for lunch.  We have seen 30+ tables for lunch on some cruises but it will depend on the itinerary and pax who KNOW MDR is an option.  Since we like cruises with sea days usually MDR is open on sea days.

We have also seen 20-30 tables occupied at lunch in the MDR.  I do agree with you that the breakfasts served there are too early for most people.  I would like to see the hours extended.  Too much trouble?  For a luxury cruise line???

I must be peculiar then... I like the Colonnade, especially on warm days sat outside for lunch.  I just find it relaxing, and one can order from a menu if that's what appeals.

I also think the Colonnade on an evening has got so much better than it used to be.  Again, I only like sat outside because it's a much better ambience than inside.  We rarely sit inside for any meal in the Colonnade.

Same for us.  I do not like the ambience inside the Colonnade.

For a different perspective, I am currently on the Encore on the Athens to Dubai journey with many sea days (I believe 10 so far, but have not counted them). The Restaurant (MDR) has been open on sea days for breakfast and dinner, but is almost deserted.  For breakfast time, the number of passengers have ranged from a high of 10 to a low of 3 (including me).  Although I dine there every sea day (mainly for the quiet in the morning), frankly I wonder how Seabourn can justify opening it for breakfast.  When there is an event at lunch in the MDR (Galley Market, etc.), the turnout is good, but otherwise there are very few passengers there. The times I eaten lunch there (5 sea days), the count has ranged from 5 to about 25 maximum.  From this view, I understand why Seabourn does not bother to open the MDR on port days and question if it even makes sense to open for breakfast (or possibly lunch) on sea days.  Each voyage is different, but my assumption is that Seabourn has studied the situation and concluded that there is just not sufficient demand to open.

Yes, this is the argument always given.  I have seen many more dining in the MDR for breakfast and lunch on the cruises we have taken.  I think many do not realize it is open---or really prefer the cafeteria style buffet.  Not to beat a dead horse, but there are those of us who do not find the Colonnade at lunch time to be anywhere near luxurious.
