  1. I asked this before but did not get an answer. Hopefully you explorer experts can help me out. :)

How is the spa on the Explorer?

    How are the massages?

Do they really try to sell you the products and put the "hard sell" on you?

Does the spa have the heated lounge chairs? If so, how much and how offten can you use them?

Any other info about the spa on the Explorer would be great.

    TIA,

    Loralie

  2. I will be on the Explorer on 4/12/12 with my DH and our 2 teen boys. The boys have a few questions.

1- do they have brownies for free?

2- do they have cupcakes for free or for a fee? (I know they do not have the cupcake store on EOS)

3- when you watch a movie in the screening room, do they have popcorn & snacks or drinks to eat during the movie?

    TIA,

  3. My DH and I were looking at the menus that were just posted. How is the daily black angus sirloin steak? My DH is a big meat and potatoes eater and he was a little disapointed that the daily steak is a sirloin.

Any steak lovers out there? What do you think? He will buy Chops filet if he HAS to but of course he does not want to have to pay extra.

    Thanks,

  4. Hi guys,

I was just reading a thread about exchanging towels and getting charged if you don't bring them back at the end of the cruise.

In the thread a few people posted that on some ships, they have a table set up at the entrance to the ship to return towels so you don't have to bring it back to the pool deck. They did not mention the Explorer. Does the Explorer have a table set up so when you come back from a beach day you don't have to bring your wet, sandy beach towels to the pool deck?

Seems like all RC ships should do this. I am hoping Explorer does. :D

    Thanks,

  5. book a b2b??? :p

the shows, especially the ice show are wonderful!!

stay up for one of the parades...

get up early one day and wander around the ship...it's fun to watch everything come to life (that can be on any ship...)

head up to the helipad......you go out on deck 4, and keep walking forward til you come to a staircase...you'll find it...

Try and be outside (weather permitting) when the ship goes under the Verrazano Narrows Bridge...looks like it won't fit, but it does....

have fun......i'm about to take my 11th cruise on EX...never get tired of that ship (heck, i'm pretty OK with ANY ship, but this one is less than an hour from my house!)

I would love to try ALL of your ideas, esp the b2b!!!! :D

Keep the ideas comming, these are great!!!

  6. I thought the entertainment was very good, so go to the shows.

Join your roll call and go to the meet and mingle. RCI gave out a lot of good prizes, excursions, free internet, wine, etc.

Do a cabin crawl, see the various kinds of suites. Lot of fun, very interesting.

In MDR, order 3 appetizers and 2 dinners.

meet and mingle and cabin crawl sounds like fun. Hopefully my roll call will get more people as we get closer to my date. :)

I don't know if I could eat 3 appetizers and 2 dinners!!! LOL

    Thanks for the tips,

  7. I asked the question about the chocolate covered strawberries, sounds like they are really good on the Explorer and I feel better about ordering them for my MIL. Thanks! :)

Now I noticed that you can also order cupcakes for your room. Has anyone ordered the cupcakes for your room on the Explorer? My 2 boys (16 nad 14) will be in their own room and I thought that would be a nice surprise for them. They would prob like the vanilla better than the red velevt. Has anyone ordered the cupcakes and were they good? Were they fresh?

    Thanks,

  8. has anyone ordered the chocolate covered strawberries for their room from gifts and gear on the Explorer? I have read some reviews that they are great and some reviews that they are soggy. I don't know if the bad reviews were from people on the Explorer and wondered if it made a difference.

I would like to order them for my MIL, this will be her first cruise ever and she loves chocolate covered strawberries.

    Thanks,

  9. Hi, we were in 7304 last Feb.The cabin was clean, flat screen TV, no major stains could use some freshening, the railing needed to be stained as did most of them on deck 7.

    Have fun.

    Dick

Thanks so much for the info on the cabin. I'm happy she will have a flat screen. I know most of the rooms still have the old TVs. Hopefully she wont find too much to complain about.

    Thanks,

  10. Honestly, I don't remember - we stayed in 7304 2 1/2 years ago. Perhaps Red Devil (Dick and Mari) will see this and respond - they stayed in this cabin last Feb. I don't remember specific stains on the carpet or couch, but the cabin did have a lived in look and could use an update. We didn't care - it was such a large spacious room and balcony and just down the hall from the elevators. The library is on that deck which is a great public space near the cabin. Are all 3 of you in the same cabin?

Dear God No!!! I think I would kill myself if I had to share a cabin with my MIL for 9 nights! LOL. Thanks for the info on the cabin. I am so excited about the trip but at the same time I have such anxiety because of my MIL. She LOVES to complain and since this trip was basically my idea (and DH's) I will be the one to blame.

  11. Is your mother an experienced scooter driver used to getting in and out of tight places? My mother was used to tooling around the wide empty hallways of a retirement village - she didn't do well going up and down the gangway, maneuvering in and out of the elevator, or getting by the service carts in the hallways.

Contact RCL and they will tell you who their provider is and how and when to contact them about renting a scooter.

We stayed in 7304 - great cabin.

She is used to driving a scooter in stores like Target and Costco. She used a scooter in Disney World. I guess she will have to get used to it on the ship.

I have heard that some of the rooms need updating since the ship is over 10 years old. Did you feel that way about 7304? do you have any pics? Were there stains on the carpet or couch? My DH and I are not picky and we will have a good time no matter what, my MIL is very picky and usually finds something to complain about . Any info on her room would help. When did you stay in 7304?

    Thanks,

    Loralie

  12. We will be on the Explorer in April and my MIL will be in a HC room, 7304. She will be renting a scooter. My question is, when should we rent the scooter? Do you rent the scooter 6 months ahead of time? 3 months? Can you wait and do it 1 month before the cruise?

This is her first cruise and our first time dealing with a scooter on a cruise. Any advice would be great.

    Thanks,

    Loralie

  13. On the Voyager,Ben & Jerry's was for a fee, but coffee was free. Is it still free? Thank you:)

I have not been on the Explorer yet but If I am correct in my reading, you can get free coffe at Cafe Promenade but if you want "Seattle's Best" coffee, it's gonna cost ya. I think Seattle's Best is their version of a Starbucks. I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong. :)

  14. Just off the 9 night and will scan and save the daily compasses in a bit. We often had more than enough washcloths in the room. DJ Scratch Academy was promoted several times. Great crew, great cruise.

Thank you so much for letting me know about the dj scratch academy and for scanning in the cruise compass. Can't wait to read them. Glad to hear you had a good time, what cabin were you in? How was the condition of your cabin?

    Thanks,
