  1. I was thinking of something new and IMHO, I consider Ruth's Chris far superior to Murano. Murano is nice but it is about equal to the MDR experience on Celebrity 20 years.

Ding Ding .... U win the comment of the month. We just got off Reflection and after paying $90 bucks... we just looked at each other and said this is what we had 10 yrs ago in the MDR....

  2. Just off Reflection... Dress code in MDR not enforced. Shorts, t shirts w sleeve on guys and even on Formal nights guys w/out ties and jackets.

Also in Murano (and yes it was the first night which is still no excuse) there was a guy in a Tshirt and workout shorts.. yes the polyester soft work out shorts.. not even nice pressed golf shorts.....SMH !!!

To me the brand of X is going away....

  3. The only pool games I remember were the officers vs. passengers water volleyball.

I love to watch the cute Israeli security officers! ;) :D

Yes that is what I remember.. they had "pool olympics" for the Pax.. it was obnoxious IMHO... total ambiance buzz kill by the pool.

And the DJ was so loud like a Miami night club.... just not the same as 2 yrs ago

  4. Our problem with this would be that the Solarium is indoors and we prefer to be outside in the sunshine (as we hardly see it in the UK). :(

Exactly I want Sun ..... it was all day. And loud beyond belief.. believe me I partied all night at the martini and Sky bar ...but would have preferred it not be like Carnival or RCCL at the main pool... It didn't have the X flavor.

  5.

We just got back sat from Reflection.. we have done Solstice a couple of yrs ago.. the main pool area was a zoo... ok usual on sea days BUT they had no live music just a DJ that was so LOUD I could not hear my husband who was holding me in the pool talk... !!!!! I'm 50 and like music but this was like being in a Miami Club..

Also, I know they have volleyball in the pool but they also had "pool games".. I really felt like it was more RCCL than X... :(

    am i missing something ???

  6. My booked ticket is through Myrtle Beach. Spirit does ridiculous fares from there. When I booked, I was traveling with my husband. Now I am not, and I would rather just fly into ILM and get home. It looks like I am going to have to pay a little more and take a book flight. The 10 am isn't looking good!

OH ! Spirit :eek:....no way would I take a 10 am flight with them.. and seriously I would avoid booking with them.. You truly get what u pay for. If you take Delta, Us air then if you miss a flight there are other flights they can put you on..

Miss a spirit flt or if it's over booked you are SOL>>>> Rule of thumb don't ever Book Spirit...

OK rant over but you will have to trust me on this one ! :D

  7. Ok.. a die hard Steeler fan wants to know if they show Monday night football anywhere besides the cabin?

I was on the Mercury Pacific Coastal and they were nice enough to set up a sunday afternoon game in one of the clubs.. we had a nice little crowd.. Steeler fans travel well...:D

  8. Personally I would book 2 assigned cabins that are at least on the same floor.. by booking 2 cabins that are guarantees they can wind anywhere on the ship, even different decks

If you keep it this way just make sure the bookings are "tied or linked" together hoping they will end up near each other..but certainly no guarantee

Remember a ship is a public place like any other hotel or place in the world....

  9. I can't remember the last time I was on a tender.

For the last several cruises, the tendered stops have always been cancelled due to rough seas

We've probably most 6 or 7 ports of call over the last few years due to this reason. On the upside, Royal, HAL, and Disney, credit the port charges. I remember when we sailed Carnival dream, we missed our stop at Roatan, and the port charges were never credited. It wasn't until we sailed Grandeur and missed a stop for which port charges were credited ,,,, that I realized that Carnival never gave us the port charges back!

You're on our sailing.. I guess we will have to wait and see. I was on Azamara in May and we had tendering in Sorrento... but there are only 600 pax. And we don't have to worry about rough seas at St. Thomas.. typically that is Grand Cayman or the Greek Islands that are notorious for rough seas.

  10. We HAVE cruised both lines extensively. (We're Elite on both)

(As recently as last Feb. , 14 days on Celebrity followed immediately by a week on Princess. Food and service on Princess was head and tails better! This was before the cuts in activity staff and classical musicians on Celebrity)

There are positives and negatives on each.

I'm just talking about the direction I see each line going in.

I am NOT posting just to complain!

We (so far) like Celebrity and , as I keep repeating and repeating, hope they will see the shortsightedness of some recent decisions.

It will be interesting for us to compare our last Princess cruise on the Emerald to the upcoming sailing on Reflection. To me the lines are so blurred and some things I really like about Princess and some things about X...

I thought Princess cut back on entertainment. No more Jazz band and the band or whatever it was in the atrium was so awful :(

I think it's like buying a car or house... you go for the most features/benefits that you like for the value. But you ain't going to get it all...:p
