1. Look on X's website for your sailing and pull up the itinerary.. it shows whether you're docked or not...

WE are sharing the pier with 2 Carnie ships and a Disney ship.. I say whoever gets their first get's a spot...LOL...

Edited..it shows your sailing as tendering too !

  2. I have cruised over 35 times give or take and have been to St Thomas more times than I can recall... We are taking the Reflection out of Miami Nov 15th and I just noticed we are tendering in St. Thomas... REALLY>... RCCL couldn't get a berth at the dock... I know 2 Carnival ships are in and Disney....

So why is X left to tender???? I have never tendered at this port and find it hard to believe corporate couldn't get a berth for this sailing...

OK rant over.. I guess it will be spa day !

  3.
I am sure you are not talking to me, but I think you will not feel uncomfortable on Azamara as a single woman. We have sailed with very friendly folks. I think you will have a lot of fun. And, I am sorry for your loss.
That all depends.. On our Amalfi coast cruise there was a woman from England who was a solo traveler and me and this other girl adopted her.. She was traveling with her hubby and I was traveling with my mom....

I say go for it as that is what he may have wanted u to do..

  4. You can look in the threads for a very thorough review for a Top Chef at Sea sailing in Alaska. When I log on in my computer I can send you the link.

  5. Did you have any noise problems in the suite? I'm wondering what to do if the upgrade fairy calls -- the suites are all under the pool deck and I've been warned on other ships to beware of noise when they swab that deck early AM.

Yes you do hear a bit of noise from above but not enough to stay away from a suite on that ship. The verandas are very small and the suite has lots of nice perks...

  6. I just got back in May from Italy on the Azamara Quest. It was a really nice small ship experience. A lot more included like tips, drinks, shuttles to the city center. They also stayed in port longer and one port we overnighted.

I would say if you like the itinerary and want to be with your friends you can 't go wrong... You won't get the plethora of activities but typically the destinations make up for that..

I would say the food is about a notch or so better than X.

Good luck and let us know what u decide

PS the cabins are very small.. we booked a veranda and lucked out getting upgraded to a suite...

  7. I'm not going to flame you because I agree with you!! Just off the NCL Breakaway a week ago. Best cruise experience we've ever had in 16 years and we've cruised all the lines including Azamara. We loved it so much that we booked the same cruise with the same cabin for next year and we've never done that on any of our 30+ cruises.

Did you have a suite which included the Haven ?

  8. A perfect accompaniment to a cruise in a suite! :D

Thanks.. The suite was the best ! We had 2 bottles of sparkling wine, 4 bottles of liquor.. no way we could even drink all that!

The stateroom attendants and butler great. I'll get a review in once I get acclimated ..but overall wonderful time. The ports and people I met on board and ashore were the highlights

  9. One annoying thing for others. The ship heavily emphasised a lack of transport at the dockside for reaching Taormina. Not true! Certainly at 9.00 - 9.30 am there were plenty.

The ship want $49 pp. a rip off. I will post later the price we have paid for a whole day tour! Suffice to say, superhero value!

This was the worst communication I have ever gotten on my over 30 cruises... We took a cab from the Port to Taormina for 25 euros for our group of 4. It was a joke to put out his information to a bunch of well travelled cruisers. It certainly going into the comments.

  10. On the Quest we were in a veranda cabin, not a suite, and there were two outlets at the desk so you'll have at least that much. We managed just fine with that and we had two cell phones, three cameras, and two Kindles with us.

    Thank you....

  11. In the early days of Azamara there was a a supposed restriction on non suite guests but I don't recall them sticking to it.

Now you can go whenever you like as long as they have tables.

It was my birthday on embarkation day one cruise and I mentioned that we would like to have dinner in Aqualina that night and they sorted it out for me there and then.

As you have special celebrations on your cruise, sure they will do all they can to accommodate you.

Hope you have an especially enjoyable cruise

Thanks ..it's my Mum's BD...and we're staying in a suite so I hope they can accommodate us.... She doesn't know I put it our booking that she is celebrating..

  12. We just got off the ship this morning

We were told on day 2 of this cruise that cellar master's would become an Irish Pub

As a true wine lover.. not thrilled. I enjoy the Pub lunches on Princess but it's just in one of their lounges.. not a full time" Pub" that is a going to be an Americanized replica like on RCCL ships... not a true "Pub" found in England...

  13. Having just got home from the TA on Quest I find the OP's comments to be so far removed from our experience, it's as if we were on a different cruise line.

We had no problems with service of any kind and found there were often little helpful touches that only improved the overall experience, like the last morning at breakfast, when, as an example, the waiter noticed my wife was unwell and went out of his way to get her a chamomile tea with honey and lemon as well as a couple of energiser drinks.

Another example, earlier in the cruise, I'd spoken to Hotel Director, Philip Herbert, to enquire about the tender process as I'd organised a CC group walking tour in Cannes. Rather than just pass this on to one of his team, Philip took all the details and ensured that everything was organised so our group could tender together and in time for the start of the tour.

I could go on with more details (and probably will when I finally manage to finish the review I'm working on) but our time on Azamara Quest was excellent, probably the best cruise of the seventeen we've achieved so far and without doubt the friendliest and most helpful crew we've ever encountered at all levels.

Thanks for the input. I'm 2 weeks away from going out on the Quest. Look forward to your review. Please let us know when and where you post.
