  1. If you want a mixed drink, it is sometimes hard to get regular bar service. Tell your waiter or asst. waiter you want bar service and they'll get the right server over. Be patient. If the service is lacking, make sure your matre 'd knows and it usually improves.

  2. We love cabin 7000. We once spent 28 days in it on the Connie. Yes there is a crew access door near by, but we never were really bothered with the door closing noise from it. Never heard it at night at all. Be aware you have to keep the curtains closed in that cabin all night.

As for the Acupuncture area, when the M ships were designed, that space was used for something else and refurbished for the Acupuncture clinic when X decided to include those services. There was just no room in the Spa area, where everyone thinks it should be located. On older ships, they have to repurpose areas where they find the space.

    Happy sailing!

  3. Bubbachief- you're correct. We've only had the Classic package and we have never had a problem getting anything off the Cafe al Bacio menu, alcohol drinks included. DH loves the Cafe Diablo as a late night, going to put him to sleep drink!

  4. Yes there is a $ amount limit that is covered. The X website lists it. It's a different amount for beer, wine and liquor. The easiest way to deal with the $ limits is to tell the bartender when you order what level Package you have and he'll tell you if it's covered. If you are not looking for the higher brands of liquor most any mixed drink is covered. And even on the Classic the brands used are pretty good.

  5. With the Classic Package you will pay the entire price of a drink over the price limit. Only the Premium package people pays the difference when a drink is over the price limit. Sorry, but I don't know how successful passengers have been in exchanging from Classic to Premium Non-Alcoholic Package. We've only had the Classic and the only water I've ever bought extra has been sparkling like Pellogrino. Your DW will be fine with any virgin frozen drink.

We're on board with you next month and are doing the Chef's Discovery on both St. Maarten and Barbados. Friends did the St. Maarten one in November and loved it. They had 9 people and dined in the wine room in Muranos. They had about 5 different wines with their dinner. Sounds good to us even at the increased price.

Have you heard about the Progressive dinner on board where you do a different course in different specialty restaurants? We're going to inquire about that when we get on board. They don't always do them, but if they get some interest, they will. In the past, it's been $99 pp. I'm going to post on our roll call to see if anyone else is interested.

  7. Don't forget that you can ask for ice twice a day, more hangers, empty the mini bar (not a fridge, just a cooler), different pillows, etc.

You don't have to impress them, just be friendly with or without an extra tip.

If you have Traditional dining, go check out your table location with the MDR. You can make changes if you are not happy with the size or location.

Enjoy being on a ship and starting a wonderful adventure!

  8. We're in early tradional dining next month and maybe our waiter will be more attentive. Also like hot foods hot and cold foods cold. If they are not, they go back or we talk to the Matre 'D. We haven't been on the Eclipse in a long time.We like 14 day cruises like this one, although we also do 7 day B2Bs to get our 14 days in.

Agree with idea that food is so subjective, but X does a good job of solving problems, even with their food.

  9. Would LOVE to have one of these for our August Equinox sailing to the Eastern Caribbean. It's a 7 night, with no overnight stays, but we have 5 couples around 40 years old that would absolutely be there! Any chance?

You might want to go to the CD and request it. They have a selection of activities to choose from and he might fit one in when it's required. Happy Cruising!

  10. I also really enjoy these rooms on the Solstice class ships! Kudos to Celebrity for using this space to create something beautiful and artistic in lieu of adding a few more tables to the Ensemble Lounge.

We all need a little more art and beauty in our lives ;-)

X does a great job with its art collection. If anyone is interested you can get an IPad from guest relations for a self guided art tour. Lots of fun if you don't have anywhere else to go!

Love the art rooms- I agree they could have just been blank or more bar seating. The picture outside of Blu on Reflection is an amazing piece of changing views and many miss it.

You might try in Cafe al Bacio. They have access to gelato for their drinks as well as the bar liquors. They make a great cold coffee with gelato. If you ask, I bet they can make what you want! They all sound delicious!

  12. Thanks Tommy- the wine blending is a new thing that X is starting. You get a personalized blend of wine with your name on the label. They might not have gotten it started yet, but we figured the Reflection might get it first.

Thought they took all the wine machines out. We usually just use the bar in Cellar Masters.

After your TA, we have one week before we get on. Leave her in great shape. Hope you're enjoying the ship.

  13. We like the Elite breakfast usually held in a specialty restaurant. Plated choices, but nothing hot. All the lattes, capuchinos you want. You will get a list in your cabin on embarkation of all the Elite activities- don't lose it. There will be no other invitations sent.

Cafe al Bacio is great, particularly if you have a drink package. The pastries there are free for everyone and they'll pack anything to go!

Keep in mind that the free laundry coupons have to be used at least 3 days before the end of the cruise ( they need time to get it all back to you).

Enjoy the new experience. I think you'll be back!

  14. We had a similar decision recently. We have never sailed in a suite and were considering one for a 7 day cruise for our 45th anniversary next year. And then I found a 14 day cruise in a 1A (slant balcony on the hump) considerably less. We ended up with the 1A. With the money we saved, I can do specialty dining whenever we want. and our itinerary has one Caribbean island we've never been to before, with our 1st overnight in Aruba. All in all, we think we'll stick with the 1As that we love.

    The choice is really yours.

  15. Pomegranate mojitos, mudslides and White Russians are my go to drinks, but I'm also old school, liking vodka Collins. Much better than the gin in Tom Collins.

Don't forget the best thing about the Classic package is to use it at Cafe al Bacio. If you want a nightcap to put you to bed, try the Cafe Diablo- muy caliente!

  16. Bluneostang-

Yea, a new winning streak has started & we're so glad. Don't have a stang just a 370Z!

I've done pretty good at Cherokee and my DH is a table player like you, never plays the slots.

Now if you hit a large enough slot jackpot, X will report it to the IRS and you get to pay taxes on it. Oh well, I guess I'd rather have the hand pay. Looking forward to

    Reflection in Nov. for one.
