  1. KAD-

I'm in the casino every night and even on Sea days for entertainment. You just have to know that it's called gambling not winning! Some slots will never give you a pay out large enough for you to cover your investment. And don't forget there is no competition- you can't go to another casino on board.

I've won some nice jackpots in the past and had lots of fun with the atmosphere in the casino. If the slots aren't paying, I go play craps. It's always a party there.

Good luck to you & enjoy yourself.

  2. The menus are getting good reviews. I am not a sushi fan, but, there is much more than that on the menu. What I do not like is the ALA CART PRICING. We will board the Summit next month, and most likely have lunch at Bistro on 5 since it is not converting until October.

Agree with you about the al a carte pricing. Going to be way more than $10 to eat at this venue any more. Also the selection doesn't seem to be a good one for an embarkation lunch. Not enough variety for me, who does not like sushi.

I also have heard that the dinner sushi in the buffet has been removed. DH will be sorry about that.

  3. Everything in Cafe al Bacio is included in the Classic Package. Their tea is wonderful and can do any of them as a refreshing iced drink. We've never felt a need to upgrade. DH always has found good selections of wine, just not as extensive as the Premium.

Just to be clear, there is a Classic and a Standard/ Select package, which is available to the UK market. That package is very limited compared to the Classic. If you have the Classic, you're OK.

  4. I don't think you will be able to add their reservation to your My Celebrity account. We do the similar thing for our DS and DDIL but as a linked reservation. Since you have their reservation number, just go into that number when you want to buy anything for them to match whatever you have.

You will never get their points even if you are paying for them, but you say that you don't care about that. You might want them to sign up for Captains Club to receive whatever coupons they would qualify for.

    Congratulations to them for graduation.

  5. I've requested cookies on a plate covered in plastic wrap so they stay fresh more than a day. And some crackers. This way the steward knows not to clear them if they're still there after a few days.

I know this is a strange request, but it's for health reasons when I need them in the middle of the night. I've always gotten them either the first night or early the first day.

We also request ice so I don't have to bring a glass from the bar for sodas.

We have been very lucky that our cabin attendants have been great!

  6. On the Summit the Elite breakfast was held in the new Tuscan Grill. It was not very well attended as was most of the Elite activities. The Elegant Tea was cancelled at least one week that we were on board (can't remember if that happened the first week). Maybe it was the itinerary- lots of different islands with only one sea day each week!

  7. We were on Summit 14 days and ate in the Tuscan Grill 3 times. New menu and food was great, but the style/decor of room is horrid! We couldn't figure out why they would not only cover the windows with wooden blinds but make them permanent ones not moveable. Plain white walls with small rectangular mirrors & no art at all made for a very boring decor. We had expected some kind of Italian theme, but nothing like that. Even the entry space was boring- a missed opportunity. X should do better!

We didn't see any table side preparations but the service was outstanding and we did enjoy everything we ordered. We thought the menu was definitely better than the old one. The cold aged steaks were fabulous (you do pay extra for them).

Whether you like steak or Italian, you will like Tuscan.

  8. We love the forward OV cabins 7000, 7001, 7002 & 7003! They are really larger and have large forward facing Windows with deep window sills. Once we were in 7000 for 28 days (Connie) and last September was in 7000 on Infinity for 17 days. These rooms tend to be square rather than oblong. Sorry I don't have any photos.

We've never had a problem with rough seas but you are as far forward as you can get, with a long walk to the food venues. We never minded that as we need the exercise.

These are cat. 8 or 9 I think, making them the most expensive OVs. And they tend to book out early. Good luck getting one- they're great!

  9. Yes, you can get specialty coffees in the MDR no charge, but as already stated, not with alcohol. You can also get them at the Elite breakfast. Cafe mochas are my favorite!

They do not swipe your card; they get to know you are elite +.

If you have a drink package, you can add the alcohol. You cannot get them from room service n/c.

I'm so ready for my cafe mochas and DH is waiting for his cappuccinos in just 2 weeks on the Summit.

  10. Celebrity does not have soda machines and most bars do not have soda guns. Soda will come in cans and you can have them opened or sealed to take back to your cabin. Remember that your soda package is not good for the cans in your mini fridge.

  11. On every M ship like the Summit, the back of the Buffet at dinner has cooked to order meats like chicken, steak, usually some cut roast. Many people never walk all around the Buffet and miss it.

Also no X ship has ever had washing machines or irons. We've always packed less and sent dirty items to the laundry/dry cleaners.

There is a huge space over the TV cabinet that we have always used for folded shirts. Hope you used it. We have never found a lack of storage, but we have not had 3 in the room.

Sorry you found so many problems with the Summit.

  12. We did a fabulous B2B on the Costellation- 28 days in the Baltics, around The British Isles and up to the Norwegian fiords. This was back in2006 and we had never spent that long on a ship. It set us up for wanting to take longer cruises all the time.

We also had a wonderful trip on the Millennium in 2013 from Hong Kong to Shanghai with stops in Taiwan, South Korea and Japan. Very exotic for us.

Seems like we like the M ships style and destinations. We do like the S ships as well but we generally take them in the Caribbean.

  13. OP- You are asking for a ship line with a very small fleet to dedicate ships to longer trips that would mainly appeal to a very limited section of the cruising population. X will not sacrifice their profits to do that, particularly since they are aiming to broaden their target audience.

We have found several ways to take our longer cruises with more unusual itineraries on X by doing B2Bs and looking for itineraries that move the ships from on area of the world to another, and we have yet to do a TA with all the DAS in a row. You just cannot compare different cruise lines and expect them to be all the same.

  14. We love the cabins 9000, 9001, 9002 & 9003 on the M ships. We did 17 days in 9000 on Infinity just in Sept./ Oct. Never had a problem with noise from bridge. There is a crew door in that front corridor that might bang and it does stop passengers from going from port to starboard in that corridor. But it never bothered us. You do have a great forward view from your window overlooking the Heliopad. And the rooms are about 1/3 larger than standard cabins.

As for foot traffic, there is none! Only a few rooms there, very quiet.

Sorry we've never been in the 8003 room. But we'd take the 9000 ones anytime.

  15. While dressier than Smart Casual, Evening Chic is intended to be less dressy than Formal attire.

    Women should feel comfortable wearing:

    •A cocktail dress

•Skirt, pants or designer jeans with an elegant top

    Men should feel comfortable wearing:

•Pants or designer jeans with a dress shirt, button-down shirt or sweater

    •Optional sport coat or blazer

This sounds like Carnival or NCL! Ugh.

  16. This is a new rule. I can remember my DH winning $7500 at the Let It Ride table and they just handed him the cash with an envelope- no forms or taxes to worry about.

Won a $1300 jackpot on Infinity the beginning of this Oct. and had to get the W-G form. It was posted at the cage for any jackpot/hand pay over $1200. My main problem is you have to itemize your deductions before you can balance your winnings out against your losses. Since we don't, I have to claim the jackpot as winnings without using my win/loss statement.

  17. Just wanted to confirm with TBMRT - use Roberto from Robtads Tours. We just got off Infinity 2weeks ago and used him for a guide. A great, safe tour with old locks, new locks, Miraflores town and then the old city at Panama City. One of the best tours ever. While we had the opportunity to walk close to the canal, our ship went thru the day before. Your's will not.

Robtads was less expensive than the ship's tours and we limited our # to 10 people for ease of travel.

We did get out of Colon right away, nothing there for us except the terminal shopping after we returned from our tour.

Definitely get a tour either thru the canal or one to allow you to walk above the canals walls. A highlight!
