  1. Thanks for all the responses so far. I actually would prefer not going Halloween week but wondered why it was a teeny bit cheaper. Oct 20-27…that isn’t heavy with school fall breaks is it?
  2. Hello all. looking at booking Bahamas cruise on symphony out of Bayonne in October. Which would have less people/kids? October 20-27 or the next week which is Halloween? The Halloween week is a tad less expensive which to me would mean not as popular. But the whole Halloween thing..dressing up, parties onboard, contests…I would think that would be more popular. TIA
  3. Are you doing the 7.5 hour or the 2.5 hour? I guess I waited too long. 7.5 hour is sold out
  4. Welp, I see the 7.5 hour tour is sold out. But the 3.5 hour tour bus/train is available. It says it goes beyond the summit, to Fraser? So do I want the bus first or the train? and thank you all for your help
  5. I think your friend wants a Caribbean vacation on a big ship with lots of activities. Lol which I have done and loved. Alaska, you are there for Alaska. Lots of people pick for the ship. That’s fine. Do that if you want. But I wanted to do Alaska for Alaska, I picked by, does it do all the inside passage, does it do Glacier bay, do you have a decent time in port, how many ports does it get in, etc. For those my choices were HAL or Princess, making sure I wasn’t on a big princess ship that only does part of the inside passage. I chose Princess. I’m also glad we are going out of Vancouver because I’ve always wanted to go there so we are flying in 2 days early.
  6. Oh wow! Yeah, Europe would be easier for me. Scotland next year!! 💃
  7. No, I get it. I’m usually like that too. But I just think Alaska is going to be different. Heck, cruising is usually about relaxing. Not on this cruise! I’m going to need a vaca from my vaca when I get back! 😄 I’m sure I’ll be asleep at 9:30 from all we will be doing. The sea days aren’t even like Caribbean Sea days.
  8. Well we would like to do some other things in the town too. Plus we are doing 4 nights on land also so between more train rides, bus rides and 4 hour tour of Denali, I think we have a lot of time for scenery.
  9. thank you both! I think we have decided to go with them doing the 3.5 hour tour. I just need to decide if we want train first or bus first
  10. We are booked for this May with Sapphire Princess out of Vancouver. I love RCI. We’ve traveled with them, Disney, celebrity and Princess. When we started planning for Alaska, which let me tell you is unlike any other kind of cruise planning, we read over and over again that two lines are the best for Alaska. HAL and Princess. They’ve been there the longest and two very important details….maybe not the big Princess ships but most do the whole inside passage. If I’m going to do this, I want to do all of it. AND Glacier bay. I wouldn’t do Alaska if it didn’t have these two things and possibly a third detail…the time in ports. We are doing 7 night cruise and 4 night land. So far I’m pretty happy with what we will be doing. Lots of varied stuff to do. For this trip, the entertainment on the ship was the last thing I was thinking of. But that’s us.
  11. I’m sure we will absolutely love it but I have about 25 places more I want to get to lol so this might be our only trip there. And I’m not young haha
  12. Thank you. When you did the combo tour was it bus first?
  13. Just curious, it looks like we could only book the 9:30am tour which does bus first then train. I’ve read a ton of reviews but can’t find out if the Alaska sign is a stop on the bus portion. We are currently booked for just the minibus tour. I’m thinking of switching. The bus/rail tour is a LOT longer so we’d also have to cancel the street car Skagway tour which I’m thinking is nothing in compared to this tour. Any thoughts? TIA
  14. The minibus has stops, photo opportunities but no bathroom. The train has no stops, wide vistas of the mountains and a restroom on board. If there was no money difference which would you go with? TIA
  15. Man. We were on an 11 day cruise last May and I never saw it on the app anywhere as an option. I sure hope it’s there for the next cruise
  16. It won’t be a huge deal if I can’t get one but this doesn’t jive with what people have reported above. Plus, they usually have them on cruises out of the UK. I’ve even seen cruise YouTube channels report they got one. But again, that was a UK port
  17. I’m hoping we don’t have issues with the app once we are onboard. It’s been a little frustrating for us and another couple who is traveling with us. We have the old app also since that’s what we used last May. I can’t do our dining ressies on there because when I go to link the other couple on our dining ressie it has them listed 4 times. Haha and it won’t let me pick just the two names so it would make it a ressie for 10! 😄 so then I have to call to get it straightened out. They still aren’t listed but the person said “I know you can’t see them but believe me, they are there”. 😄 When I do the app version on the website to change the time (I’ve done it twice) it deletes the couple totally. So then, I call to get them back on. The last time I called the woman told me to use the old app because it works better and she was right! 😄 I’m thinking once we are on the ship it will all work out. p.s. oh yeah I forgot. I also had an issue when ordering the medallion that I again had to call to get it worked out. Three calls over two days, probably 2 hours on phone total for this one issue. It has not been fun planning this cruise that’s for sure.
  18. Hmmm we would order coffee thru room service on the phone and that took a very long time but was regular coffee. Where is the americano coming from when you order on the app? I don’t think we could order that early in the morn. It was not on the menu I don’t think of what was available. We got it at other times and ordered other drinks too during the day
  19. Well, I was thinking of a way to have my coffee as soon as I want to get up and not have to leave the room(we like to sit on our balcony in the morn with our coffee). Last princess cruise we ordered off the paper menu the night before. The few mornings we did that the coffee was pretty bad. And I’m not a coffee snob. We found that ordering an americano from the ice cream/coffee place on the deck pool was the best bet but my hubby was nice enough to do that and wait in line. Since then I’ve discovered some pretty good instant single servings of coffee I thought we could use and just order the hot water or ask for a kettle. Once I did order tea from room service and of course that’s not going to stay hot long. But if that’s my only in room option I’ll do it.
