We will be on sapphire in May to Alaska. It would be great if I could have hot water in the room. The room service hot water doesn’t come piping hot or stay hot. TIA

I’m not talking about the free wifi that connects to the app. sorry, this is such a basic question but I’m finding conflicting info. I’m thinking the places I’m seeing where you can purchase the internet package separately are relaying old info. But I thought why not ask the experts. TIA

Ours for May went way down. Very, very long story short…Princess does not do re-fares. You can cancel and rebook but our ship is sold out with a waitlist. So I’m not sure why the lower price was even offered online. I’m guessing it’s been there but I just forgot to check until now when it’s too late. Had a nice woman on the phone. She tried for 45 minutes to do something for me, almost promising that they could do something. Said it wasn’t allowing her to do xyz so she was transferring me to a support dept. Next person knew nothing about my request, no notes or whatever from the person I talked to for 45 min. Had to start over. By that time they had worn me down especially when that person said “actually from what I see your cruise is $100 more”. I paid it off before I stuck a fork in my eye!!! I’ve done this at least 10 times with Royal Caribbean, usually taking 5-10 min, no worries.

Ok. Thank you. maybe these cruise companies need to stop making ships and concentrate on a good app! Haha

Just wondering if you’ve tried the last 3 days. I’ve been able to do nothing. about half an hour ago I was able to call and they made them for me. Yesterday they couldn’t. Whatever. We are linked with another couple. After I saw our reservations on the app I noticed it wasn’t for 4 of us. It was just the two of us. When I went to add shipmates it had that couple listed 4 times. (8 extra people instead of 2) lol so if I edited the reservation it would be for 10 people. It wouldn’t let me pick only 2. Back to the phone I went. Got it straightened out but she was surprised the app didn’t show the new ressies. I signed out, closed the app. Nope. Then I powered down my phone. Nope. When I was on the phone with her she said maybe it needs more time. Gotta say, this is my 2nd Princess cruise and I’m not too impressed. We’ve had many issues, my BIL on for hours. Person told him to download the app…it was the wrong one. Some bigger issues on our last cruise. Hmm Princess and HA pretty much rule Alaska so I think I’ll be glad we went with them but after that, don’t think I need to book again. This is our 4th company, 10th cruise so it’s not like we have no experience.

Ok this REALLY worries me!! I DID call and the girl said there was no availability. And when I go on the app it says “Can’t load content”. Could every single reservation be taken up? Mercy. And our 39th anniversary is the first night 😫

We are on sapphire May 25 to Alaska. They said I couldn’t make dining ressies until I was paid in full. So I did that , I’m almost a month ahead of when I had to. Anyway, I go to do it on the app and nothing really sticks. I put in all the search info but it doesn’t really do anything. So I call. She goes to do one and it says no available. She says it’s not because nothing is left. It’s because I am not 100 days or less to cruise. Is this correct? We are regular balcony room. No packages or reserve or suite, etc. TIA

We are about to go on our second New England/Canada cruise, both were/are 10 nights. First one was RC, this next one is Princess. I LOVED Charlottetown! We rented a car, got in the Anne of green gables site, stoped at a great restaurant way out of the way that had mussels. Fantastic! The town is cute too with a bunch of neat shops. This time we will do some shopping in town, eat mussels at a restaurant (near the port/water probably) and we have tickets to see “Anne and Gilbert, the musical”. So excited! Loved Portland, Halifax and Bar harbor a must! This time our itinerary also takes us to Boston. Never been and I’ve always wanted to do freedom trail. Both cruises also started or ended in Quebec City which is my fav city ever! So I don’t know which itinerary I’d pick of yours. Is there a third option that can get more in? Are these 7 days?

Yeah, I mentioned may in my post #25. But the time/calendar doesn’t matter to us. It’s going to be like a 12 day trip so we are either going out on an odd day or coming back. 🤓

So if you had a choice between grand and sapphire, which would you pick? Doesn’t matter? And when I go in to book, it’s giving me deck 11 or 12 on sapphire. Either one ok? It would be mid ship or mid aft, starboard.

Oh I was on another thread about Alaska ships and someone said they wouldn’t pick a royal ship because no inside passage. But Royal does do inside passage. But maybe they mean what you said….MORE inside passage. For instance looking at the itinerary map it has a dotted line out of Vancouver…is that what that means? It’s not there from the beginning?

Thank you for the brochure! I appreciate that. mom not sure we’d be able to do that Connoisseur package because the couple we are traveling with would probably not be able to pay the extra. And we are a skip breakfast, small lunch, regular dinner kind of people so we might look at the different packages for the land part. But I can definitely see why one would like that package. Thank you. 🙂

Wait. Since when does the Royal Princess not do the inside passage? I definitely want to do IP! And I thought I wanted to do Royal but now you guys are making me think again. I was just reading a website about their trip on Royal Princess Alaska and they did the inside passage. 🤔 also, are expanded promenades as important when booking May and probably will have cooler weather? Man, I thought I had this down. Lol The itinerary is Vancouver, Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway, Glacier bay, College Fjord, Whittier, then 4 nights land ending in Fairbanks.

I find it hard to believe on a cruise planning board that there aren’t tons of people who have planned their own trips. No? 🤷‍♀️ another question, why do some of the itineraries say “explore on your own”? What does that mean?

I think this is the right place to ask these questions since it’s specific to Princess. I need help. I’m so confused. SIL texted me last week and said hey, how about Alaska?! lol All I know is that we want to go next year, maybe May or June (so I need to get this going), out of the ships that go I think we want Royal Princess(a little bigger and newer, my SIL and BIL have only been on one cruise years ago on the infamous “Big Red Boat”. I want them to be impressed and love cruising!). I also know we want to cruise first, then land portion. So 7 night cruise, 3 or 4 land part, ending in Fairbanks. That’s about it. When I go on Princess website I get some that go to McKinley for two nights. Some that are one night there, one night Denali. Some say train ride to your hotel. Some are…idk, are they an excursion? Can’t I pick that part? I mean pick which hotel? Are meals included on the land part? Is it better to be closer to McKinley? Or to Denali? I have planned so many vacations, even helped others with their planning, people have told me to become an agent. Ha! Alaska has proved them all wrong! 😄 could you guys please help me out? This is probably the only time we will get there. My hubby has been there before and I know I’ll love it. It’s just there are 30 other places on my list to go before I’d go back and I’m not young! 😄 Tell me what you did? Would you change anything? Regret not doing something? thank you so much!
