The 2024 World Cruise....hopefully at the pre-cruise Gala dinner.  If not then,  later on the cruise. 😁

Thank you, Mysty.  It appears I may have given the wrong impression somewhere along the line as I won't be on the world cruise, unfortunately.  What a dream that cruise would be though.

I hope you have a lovely time sailing this forthcoming holiday season and winter, and hopefully our paths will cross on board a Silversea ship someday.

Was wondering if anyone has stayed in any of the rooms next to the Laundry Room and if there was an issue with the noise?

None.  This applies to all of the ships, including the large laundry rooms on the Cloud and Wind.

George once asked if they had a meat grinder onboard (yes) and tried to get them to grind up a sirloin steak for him to make a hamburger. They wouldn't do it.

Does Silversea serve sirloin steaks?  Maybe have him request they grind a tenderloin or filet next time on board.

I wish him much success, because like he, I cannot choke down the awful hamburgers Silversea serves.

I agree with everything expect the no jeans, nice dress jeans look a lot better than some of those out dated Tux’s.  Just my opinon.

"Dress" jeans?  I've never heard jeans referred to in that manner before.

What constitutes the difference between jeans and dress jeans?  To be considered dress jeans must they have a satin stripe over the side seam?

    Humm?? Very interesting.

What do you find interesting about MsCrystalina La Dame post?  To me it's just a general description of La Dame whereby the cost is $60 on every ship not named Nova and $160 on Nova.

As usual, poorly written by Silversea.  You'd think after all of the years they would have hired someone who majored in English by now to proofread their marketing materials.

Hi, Alaska for sure has formal optional nights. As for the Med? Never seen a formal optional on them and I have multiple cruises to that area.  They always have formal nights. (well, on all the cruises I have taken).

Alaska also retains formal nights on board the Classic ships, it's just that the formal night is optional on sailings of 7-days.  See my post above.

We most likely will be booking the August 14 Silver Shadow cruise round trip from Quebec City that spends several days visiting Newfoundland.

The traditional dress code remains intact on the Classic ships, which Silver Shadow is a part of.  Formal optional is only available on 7-day sailings in the Baltic, Mediterranean, and Alaska, whereby guests may choose to dress informally on the single formal night, meaning a jacket is required for gentlemen.

You were actually very clear.  You just fell victim to a smarmy attempt at humor directed at a newbie.

Swarmy?  Looks to me like the OP wasn't very clear (which they admitted) and you completely mischaracterized the reply.

Firstly, ignore Stumbles, that's what we mostly do.

We had a nice Meet & Greet (about 15 fellow guests) on the day after we left Capetown (March 29th), pls see photo.  We had drinks served by the Panorama wait staff.

Thanks for your reply WesW.  Looks like a nice get together.  I wasn't sure if Silversea still provided canapes during the Meet & Mingles, so appreciate the pic showing they don't.

Know the Cloud Expedition team led by Expedition Leader (EL), Schalk and (Assistant) AEL, Gert will work hard to help meet and even exceed your voyage expections.

Good to see you're still alive!  When your Cape to Cape topic was deleted, I assumed the worst as I've never seen a forum topic disappear before.  So, do you know what happened to it?  Also, how was your Meet & Greet over in Africa?  How many attended and what does Silversea provide these days for these little events?

Most of the events, so far, have been very good. Many have been outside events in very testing circumstances. All up, going well. I hope this answers your question.

Thank you for answering my question turtlemichael.  After listening to the SS CEO rave about both of these private events, it is very helpful to read your firsthand experience.  Again, thank you for taking the time to respond.

Or is this the added-cost top-shelf stuff ?

If I'm following you question, yes, there is an extra cost for top shelf stuff.  You're not going to be served complimentary and unlimited pours of items like Dom Pérignon, Cristal, Ornellaia, d'Yquem, Johnnie Walker Blue, etc.

Yes, I'm on board but not doing a blog. There are not enough hours in the day and the internet connection is shite!  However, I'm happy to answer any questions.

When you have the opportunity, would you tell us more about the special private events Silversea provided exclusively to passengers of the current world cruise, specifically the Philippine island beach party and the Hạ Long Bay cave dinner?

@CCAubs the confusion probably arises because threads like this are normally posted as 'stickies' at the top of the forum or even more as banners at the very top.  Until you replied with your status, this didn't really feel like an official thread.  Maybe @LauraS could help.

Whatever happened to this CruiseCritic topic?  Where are the answers to the questions posed here?

Just left the Silver Moon and caffeine free sugar free Coke was always available. The butler always replenished it every day.

    Good to know.

The last time I sailed from the North Atlantic into the Med, Caffeine-free Diet Coke was only available via a special order.  I didn't know that, so my excellent butler delighted me when he found it in a Great Britain port where it's known as Diet Coke No Caffeine.

I assume that since we haven't heard from her that Mysty is without power. About 110,000 customers in Ontario are still without power this morning, as well as seemingly over 1 million in Quebec.

Yikes!  For someone that posts here daily, I bet it's disconcerting to have run out of battery power on her mobile phone, let alone at her place of residence.  Hopefully, she is doing well, power is restored soon, and she can gallantly return to her rightful place here!

...or something specific to that cruise?

I imagine.  Because the Dawn is back in Europe now (West Africa at the moment) until she arrives in England in mid-May.

No seats available that means to me, esp since when I call JAL(code share partner) and they say all other seats assigned, just not to us. Tried calling everyone.  No help whatsoever.  If seats open up I am sure they will be middle seats(yes that plane has 2-3-2 configuration in business class)

What seats did you end up in?
