1. On our most recent cruise (Princess) someone had balloons and streamers all around their door and you had to brush them aside to get through - was very annoying. I don't decorate my door, but don't mind door decorations as long as they are not sticking out into the hallway. It is kind of fun to see what people do. I stick a hibiscus flower hair clip on the mailbox which makes it easier to find my cabin and makes it look a bit more festive and leave it at that.

2. I am far too lazy to lug on my favorite sodas or water - I make do with what the ship has for the week or so I am on board, and happily drink the ships water.

That being said - for $2.99 delivered to my room, I happily bought 2 cases of water! I am happy with the new plan and hoping it helps make the lines go more quickly.

3. I heard that the Alaskan ships will be getting the new wifi plans this summer - hoping to hear that the Legend got it before our September cruise to Hawaii - anyone have any updates to the new wifi plans and which ships are getting them?

4. I tend to take all reviews with a grain of salt...

I have no problem with all positive reviews because quite honestly - when I am on a cruise I tend to not sweat the little stuff. I am there to have a good time and I do! I tend to let the negatives roll off my shoulder and focus on the great time I had. I am one who focuses on the good side of everything, not just cruises, so if I read an all positive review I realize that that person is probably a lot like me.

I have no problem with reviews where the person had fun but some things went wrong, because yeah, this is life and very seldom is every little thing going to be perfect. People mention things that I wouldn't mention simply because they wouldn't be the focus of my cruise and honestly, I have probably already forgotten them, but I realize that no cruise is going to be perfection on a plate and if people choose to mention little things that went wrong, that is their right and their style. I don't feel insulted in the least or feel the need to bash them because they dared to say something negative.

Oddly enough, I have no problem with reviews where the person didn't like their *insert cruiseline here* cruise for whatever reason because a lot of times you get used to a certain type of cruiseline and if you don't find the exact same thing on another line they just don't seem to be able to adjust and have a good time. I feel sorry for those kinds of people actually because damn - it's a cruise! Relax and have fun! But again, it is their right to have a preference and if they don't like my favorite cruiseline, that's ok by me. That's why there are choices, we are not all the same. No need to bash them because their taste is not just like mine.

The only type of review that I don't care for (and will usually just bypass once I realize where they are going with it) are the ones where not one thing went right. Where everything is a negative - the ship, the staff, the ports, the food... really??? Not ONE positive word? Give me a break! When I see this kind of review all I feel is pity for the person who is so negative that they can't find anything good in a cruise... how sad is that? And I can only imagine the kind of "downer" it must be to have to be around a person like that because those are the kinds of people I tend to avoid like the plague.

My cousin was on the Carnival Mexican Riviera cruise that got stuck for days out at sea - the one where they ran out of food and were serving cheese sandwiches to the guests. Guess what? She and her hubby STILL managed to have fun and laugh at the experience! It's all in your attitude and if you aren't going to have a good time, why go? :D

But bottom line - a review is what it is and people have the right to write what they want about their cruise... but I am going to take it all with a grain of salt and maybe a drink of the day! ;)

5. I found all the San Juan /Condado area beaches to be quite rough and below par for a true beach lover. I'd focus on seeing the forts and maybe the bacardi factory.

I can second this - the forts are just spectacular! Particularly if this is your first trip there. I have seen them twice now and plan to see them again this spring. Perfect day in old San Juan is take the trolleys to the forts then walk around and sample some of the great bars in Old San Juan then mosey on down outside the walls of the city (There is a park just outside with some statues and was a little bazaar/market place when we were there) and look at the houses of San Juan peeking up above the fortifying walls. We walked all over, but Trolleys take you pretty much anywhere you want to go. Enjoy!

6. If you'd like, you can cancel the card right before the year is up, thus not incurring an $89 annual fee. I was going to do this. However, when it came close for my free year to end, I looked back at all the entries of $50, 100, 125 cash back over the past year, and I gladly paid the $89 for this year. This is really the card for people who travel. Also, it comes with free travel insurance if you pay for the entire trip on the one card. You simply cannot beat it.

Free travel insurance? Is it the same that Carnival offers when you book that included medical emergencies? I was thinking of booking a cruise while on the cruise to get the OBC - if I applied for the card at the same time could I use the card then and there? Or would I have to wait until I actually got the card? Thanks in advance... :)

Editted to add - is the insurance included on any trip you use the card for? Or just Carnival cruises? For instance, if I booked a land trip with the card...

7. So I ran into a fellow FTTF hater on the Breeze and he made an interesting point. OK so it's more like a conspiracy theory. The theorist complains that Carnival intentionally keeps lines long, tendering processes slow, and rooms unavailable to keep demand for FTTF high.

While I doubt his theory of the intentional delays, he does have a point- if people are willing to pay for FTTF what incentive does Carnival have to improve these choke points that cause people to buy the convenience in the first place? Why should Carnival try to reduce lines at GS by hiring more staff for example, when they simply say "the long lines are a problem, and here is a way around the problem, if you pay for it."

Not only do they get to avoid fixing a problem, but they gain a new revenue stream at the same time. Genius!

I seriously doubt that to be honest. In fact, the new policy of no bringing on bottles will effectively help speed up the process of boarding and if the theory were correct, I don't think that Carnival would welcome any new policies that would make boarding go more smoothly.... Plus, the amount of FTTF's offered per cruise are not really of significant number to make me believe that Carnival is proactively looking to increase the wait time just to sell a few. The FTTF numbers sold also depend on how many Platinum and Diamonds there are on board. Just my opinions of course, people will believe what they want to believe.;)

8. Hi, I have never cruised Carnival before but have booked 2 Carnival cruises.

We are now considering doing another Carnival cruise before the Miami one. It will be on Glory thus making the first one a B2B.

The ports on the first one are

Half Moon Cay, St Thomas, San Juan, Grand Turk

The one booked already are-

Cozumel, Belize, Roatan, Grand Cayman

As I am new to Carnival I am concerned that it may be too much?? Is that too much of the same type of port? I have only just started researching and don't know anything about this area.

We are not fussy as far as ships go so not too worried about that. As long as the food and service are good we are happy. I'm pretty busy at work so cruising is the easy option. It takes me many months to plan land based tours.

I think I'm getting addicted to cruising. :D

I am jealous! Would love to to B2B in the Caribbean - there is nothing like white sand and turquoise seas with a frosty "boat drink" to make you just relax! And since all are different ports there are different things to do even if you aren't "beachy" people. I would do it in a heart beat! Enjoy!

9. I'm just flummoxed that people would read ONE extreme review and make decisions based on that.

Just off her sister ship, Legend, aft-extended balcony deck 5. Yes, you can hear the low hum of the engines. When leaving port there is some increased vibrations from the thrusters. BUT NOTHING CLOSE to what the OP experienced. When we have a choice, we book aft on every cruise.

The OPs related their experience as they perceived it. I'm guessing they don't have kids, dogs, and live in a bucolic rural paradise with no street traffic. :)

We experienced more noise forward during moderate seas. The waves make a dull hollow booming sound on the hull when they hit at a certain angle. We didn't mind that either, enhances the 'sailing' feeling.

Sailed with a friend two weeks ago who is very susceptible to motion sickness, (she booked far forward too). Go sit in the atrium lobby... least amount of motion on the ship, I discovered. She ended up going to the infirmary where they gave her Meclizine.... miracle drug. She enjoyed her cruise after that.

That is reassuring, thanks! We are aft extended balcony deck 4 on the Legend this September to Hawaii - since is sister ship to Pride, I was a bit concerned, especially since I have heard the Pacific crossing to Hawaii can be a bit rough at times. I have been aft before and was fine, but was on Royal Caribbean ship, had some concern when people said Spirit Class had vibrations problems (Have been on Spirit and Pride, but mid ship and no problems).

I am still going to bring my bonine and take it just in case, better safe than sorry, but now not so concerned - at any rate it will still be a marvelous cruise even if we are rocking a rolling a bit :D.

In defense of the OP, it might have been a rougher than normal sailing, or the engines or thrusters or whatever might have been acting up a bit - or as you said, some people have less tolerance for that kind of thing. But your post has made me feel a bit more at ease about Spirit Class afts, and the Legend afts in particular so thanks for chiming in! ;)

10. We leave on Legend in 2 more sleeeeeps!!!!! We'll take care of her for you =)

We catch the Legend in September to Hawaii - save some boat drinks for us will ya???? ;)

I heard rumors that the Legend will be getting the new wifi packages sometime this summer... hoping someone will post if and when that happens before our cruise!

11. I would have been mad too! NO GROUP whoever they may be, should be able to take over the ship and ruin it for everyone else, and to actually try to hawk their wares while you are trying to enjoy your cruise is inexcusable! I would have been at guest services lodging complaints my whole cruise! Wow, just wow! That is not right and shouldn't have been allowed.

12. First of all, I'm sorry! I know how disappointed you must be! :( Is there some other doctor you could talk to about this who might let them take the trip?

Second of all - you bought insurance and they will not cover it? HELLO - isn't that why people buy the insurance in the first place - so if something comes up and you can't travel it is covered? That really pissed me off!

Thirdly - It is unfortunate and seems like the rep you spoke with when booking wasn't really listening to your needs - if I were you, I would call back and keep going up the chain of command until you speak with someone who can help you - the fact that the rep, knowing your circumstances, still pushed ES on you when you were thinking Senior discount could work in your favor. Good luck to you!

A thought occurred - could you and hubby still go on the cruise and have a good time yourself, then possibly use the credit for the second cabin for a cruise down the line? Then perhaps it wouldn't be such a loss... just a thought.

13.
When you looked every day to book was it there and said Sold Out or
was it not showing up at all.
Most cruises I have booked, FTTF shows as Sold Out
Our OCT cruise on the Valor from Port Canaveral it's not even offered.
You click on it and there is nothing.
has anyone else have this happen?
I'm platinum so no worries here but I have been looking for family members traveling with us
It is not showing at all for our September 15th Cruise on the Legend either, if that helps...
