They did not know what they doing, one hand did not takk to the other.  One person would say one thing and the next person something completely different.  They 1st said that my negative husband/ daughter could fly home and then at 11:00 pm called to tell us that they too would need to quarantine (after i booked tickets home for them). They really had no clue what to do.  Do not expect Carnival to help you out at all.  It appears Celebrity/RCL provide more help to their postive cases.  I was on the Adv of the Seas 2 nd sailing with two postive cases and they arranged everything for them.  Carnival only offered to pay for private transport after i said I would request an ambulance.  They appear to want to keep it hush hush, while the other cruise lines deal with it directly.  I knew I would be a quinea pig but it was really handled badly imho.

One would think that all this would have been thought out by the powers to be before sailing.  That kinda erks me to no end.   It would have been better if you at least got solid answers that didnt change.

I do hope yall test negative soon and that you dont get any symptoms.

I have 4 cruises set up between now and the end of the year and I am seriously rethinking those decisions.

Just off the Breeze today, fully vaccinated 2 doses Pfizer 3 weeks apart back in March/April.  Son (10) not vaxxed and I both positive.  Husband fully vaxxed and daughter 9 non vaxxed both negative.  Carnival gave us free calls and a list of hotels with bad phone numbers toi arrange Texas quarantine (from CT). Did not announce the positive cases on board and the polcieci/procedures for dealing with cases non existent.  They did shell out for transfer to hotel as I mentioned that I would have to find an ambulance.  They snuck us out after all passenger were disembarked thru the back door...Horrible experience

Very interested on how things unfold for you.  Is everyone satisfied that it wasn't a false positive? Are you both feeling ok??

Totally agree.  Its getting everyone to understand this going forward now that is the issue.  people are still stuck in the pre vaccine way of thinking.  I think the protocols are speaking for themselves when you look at those ships currently sailing that have had positive cases detected on board and the fact that they are very small numbers and not affecting or disrupting the majority of the passengers vacation.

I think we are all stuck in pre vaccine thinking and this thing is ever changing.  The delta variant is much more contagious.  And we the vaccinated are not bullet proof and we can pick up the virus. But then again our bodies are prepared to fight it off quickly, saving ourselves from a bad case and stop the spread.

We as cruisers need to keep this in mind and act accordingly and follow the cruise lines guidance.  So far the cruise lines have done a good job at keeping things safe and making cruising enjoyable again.

I do wish there was more info on these color changes released to us.  The Carnival Breeze and Horizon are yellow and the Vista is orange.  Also the Mardi Gras is Orange and they are going to start passengers this Saturday.  What does this really mean to us?  Is it even something we should be concerned about?

  4. Hi, Yall!

The extended family is planning a after Christmas cruise for Dec 26.  The entire family is vaccinated except for one who is 11.

Here is were we need advice from those of you that have either cruise with youngins or plan on doing so soon. The carnival mardi gras is sailing on Sunday Dec 26 and the rule says we need the little one tested inside a 72 hour window, which makes it Thursday morning Dec 23. I pretty sure Christmas day is a wash for getting results back so we would need them back in less than 36 hours, i.e.  sometime Christmas eve.  Is that at all possible???  Is there some magical place that we could get that fast a turn around?  Thanks

  5. LOL we did this when we took our 2 (20+) grand daughters.  My wife had one room and the other was mine.  THis allowed the girls to board on our platinum status.  Once onboard my wife and one granddaughter  went to guest services and they swapped them for us so that the girls could stay together.  it was no sweat.

That's interesting, since it's not available for our Sept. 18th cruise on Magic.

I'm kind of torn between getting it or not.  I've gotten it once before and didn't really feel like it was worth it - yes, we were able to go right to our cabin which was nice, but our luggage didn't show up until 7 PM, and the early debarkation wasn't really a big deal for us.

Hey on the same cruise!  We are platinum and have been told that there will be no early boarding and that  we need to show up only  during our scheduled time. I guess that will be during the registration.  I think they are very concerned with crowds in the terminal,

I just found out that Carnival changed it's policies and if you were vaccinated with AstraZeneca and Pfizer or Moderna, you are considered unvaccinated.  I get their reasoning, but here in Canada we were told to get whatever was available to us and that is exactly what I did and now I because of me, my family will not be able to cruise - I refuse to apply for exemption because I don't feel that I should have to bare the extra costs because of doing something that I was told to do.  Do you think this will change down the road?

That totally sucks.  I totally understand that the Canadian govt was trying to protect its citizens.  And Carnival has to follow CDC guidelines.  I can't even guess how long it will take the CDC to "know" if it is ok or not.  I dont know what I would do in your position.  I know all this will pass but when?????

Neither our September nor October Pride cruises have changed itinerary, including HMC and Grand Turk.

Is it just me or is anyone else starting to feel nuts waiting on the confirmation for September?  🤪

Not feeling nuts yet.  I figure I have zero control over it, heck I dont even get to blow the whistle.

All I know is I have a cruise in Sept and it is still scheduled.  If that dont change I will be very happy.

I want to thank you very much for doing all this.  You have brought joy  to our gang.  We have 4 scheduled thru the end of year and we all had concerns .  Now we are sittin on ready and  rocking on go.

And I am very happy with the new muster procedures.   I still remember the days when we had to put the life vest on in the heat.  Then move with the herd to go put it away.    Now if we can all keep this moving forward it will be great.

Again thanks for all the info, it is almost like being there.

  10. We got an email about our Elation cruise out of Canaveral sept 18th.  They replaced her with the Magic and cancelled Grand Turk and replaced it with Bimini.  I never been there.  But they did say it was a fully vaccinated cruise.  Things are fluid.

its a waiting game. I still believe that carnival as many will require vaccinations to sail. but each day brings different info.

Well, I don't know what they will decide in the end.  People that had covid and recovered have immunity and add to the herd.   We do have 2 states entering a light herd immunity and 3 more coming close. They look like they will make it by end of month.  I think we will see some changes in everyones thinking as this all plays out.

It has to do with Florida acting like an independent fiefdom and wasting my tax dollars, not fear.

All states have independent rights and govern themselves.  If I was thinking about a fiefdom I would look at NY.  I am not from Florida and I didn't vote for anyone down there,  But I don't see anything to fear about visiting.  But if you do then just dont go there. It is simple

It's pretty clear from the endless video reruns that he spoke about bleach as a disinfectant killing the virus on surfaces and the possibility of "injecting disinfectant" into the lungs in order to kill it.  It was not sarcasm.  Not anything close to it.  That was a sincere questioning of Dr. Birx, and her look of discomfort was inescapable.

The Dr Birx part I saw also . Trump was never a good speaker.

UV light is known to kill various gremlins (and has been) and can also be hazardous to humans. UV-C is the trick. But you wouldn't/shouldn't apply it directly to humans.

Speaking of political statements, which President said it was a hoax and later suggested ingesting bleach, and continues to make racist statements?

Technically he never said the word bleach .  But he did mention disinfectants and the idea of using light,  I found it interesting in that found that the Sinai hospital in NY was and is  studying the idea of using light to fight viruses.

    Really?

The speaker of the house said this in Feb of last year: Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi toured San Francisco's Chinatown Monday to send a message. She said there's no reason tourists or locals should be staying away from the area because of coronavirus concerns.

"That’s what we’re trying to do today is to say everything is fine here," Pelosi said. "Come because precautions have been taken. The city is on top of the situation."

Why would #3 in the country declare no issue if; "This Pandemic and/or symptoms has been around for a while and Medical Experts around the World have been working toward a cure. Sorry, the past administration gets zero credit. "?

Who was President when madam speaker gave the all-clear?

Ok ,  I remember that event.  Nancy is a politician and was talking out her um hat , and she felt people were being unfair to the Chinese in Chinatown.  After all this I TOTALLY lost any respect for her.  Now I see her as a bitter old woman and hope she retires soon.

But the medicos did get out the studies and documentation when they heard off a nueva coronavirus and there was a ton of confusion and actually the confusion still lingers.

The definition of insanity is: "Doing the same thing over and over expecting a different outcome". His actions have not changed the "unsafety" factor for the State. If I am not mistaken Florida still has daily Covid cases and unfortunately daily deaths. Until we get to a point where there are no deaths associated with Covid then his ideas are useless. He is the reason that we will not be Cruising anytime soon.

Then all ideas are useless, because there will never be no deaths to covid.  That we will not attain.

And if I look around I would consider it much more dangerous in other states in the union.  I remember the Gov of Texas , i dont remember his name but someone said his leadership was "neanderthal",  and look how all the worked out.
