  1. We have always paid the auto tip on Cunard and P&O but no more than that, to me this devised hopefully to help service crew. We booked a suite on Brittania to the fjords a few weeks ago with the new tips included, on this cruise our butler was fantastic. He managed to get us seats for the Limelight club when it was sold out with a large booth to ourselves with great views. My son 34 is disabled and was brought many times what he wanted from the lunch and dinner menu plus any drinks from the bar, menus were left daily. Any room service was marked suite with no charge. Excellent service and we tipped him so.

  2. After boarding we went up to the sun deck and were offered a third off deal at the Epicurean that night. A shame as we had booked 3 nights later. I thought the Limelight club was excellent value, intimate great show (Gareth Gates) 6.30 till late.

  3. Tried both parking companies but preferred Parking 4 cruises due to being able to drop your luggage off straight away then drive a to the adjacent car park for the paperwork, short walk back and into the terminal. Glad we did this on our Brittania cruise which arrived 2 hours late as with  Cruise Parking you have to wait in your car in lines until you are called to drop your luggage. When a ship is late especially when our ship arrived seven hours late there were a lot of problems. Obviously this is a very rare occurrence.

  4. Yes the internet was poor or not available in the fjords so my son said when in port and parts of the fjords tether off your phone..you can use the ship satellite connection which still has problems in the fjords. My son every time looking at the final bill says he would not take the ship internet....Wait till you can get a connection for your roaming charge..cheaper than the phone package.

  5. Sorry forget to mention Epicurean for breakfast ...so good ....went there every day on our 7 night cruise...if you ask you get..as my son delightedly found out having the smoked salmon eggs benedict on the same plate as a full English...where to look but he enjoyed it...Fantastic service..well done the staff, every morning they make you feel special.

  6. We a few weeks ago went to the Fjords on Britannia in a accessible suite I think B627..

Balcony’s are tiny but double sized because a suite is basically 2 cabins. The cabin was open as the middle wall removed. The bathroom was fantastic which my son enjoyed but not as much as me.. I loved having a perch on the fold down large seat and basking in the shower....sorry I digress.. Cabin great. Suite onboard welcome champagne buffet was to us very good a lovely moment to relax. Cabin was huge with fantastic bathroom for all of us. Our Butler got us seats at the limelight club 2nd night when it was sold out and great seats in a large booth just for us..great views of the stage. On port days when our son didn’t come with us and the evening of the limelight club he ordered from the restaurant menu (lunch/evening) . Also any drinks we wanted in cabin we could order..cocktails..any drink basically. All room service we ordered was complimentary.

Our Butler was great as was the cruise to Norway....We will be back..

  7. Jeanylion would you want compensation if this happened to you yesterday on late embarkation to Brittania when we we the first passengers after self disembarkation to get off with priority 5.00PM. With the rest of the ship still to get off 2hrs later. 2 more hours then embarkation..then safety drills..then luggage..9.00 PM minimum..

It is not the passengers problem......it is Britannia’s problem by not building in more maintenance time apart from once a year. The rest of the year ships are firefighting the problem. As I said it is NOWHERE near as bad arriving late as having to wait for your cruise...try it sometime....

  8. On the sea day after leaving Bergen heading for Southampton at 3.00PM when the captain explained the previous nights announcement for safety teams to go to deck 4 zone? which was the engine room..no tuning in to webcam but straight across the ship. Short and precise. The problem was steam escaping and with the large distance and high speed already needed already he made the decision to arrive late at that time quoting 2.00PM. This with another announcement across cabins at 04.00AM morning of arrival that an engine overloaded and all but emergency power would be turned off till fixed. Not long but obviously shows problems. With cruise companies selling back to back cruises all year reaping the rewards with this they must also accept when a ship has mechanical problems there will be monetary consequences...they can’t have it both ways.

After hearing of the £20 compensation offer I had a figure already as a GOODWILL gesture of £100pp in line with Docco....P&O should look at the bigger picture...anyway I hope they have a good time as we did.

  9. Yes I did post on our run along the coast about 3hrs from Southampton the captain announced due to missing our early morning slot with a fresh arrival time of 2.00PM the port asked for Brittania to slow down so they arrived at 2.30PM. In fact arriving just before 3.00PM.

We got on the ship a bit late on the 18th due to the late docking but nowhere near as bad as yesterday. What I will say being late arriving and having the use of your rooms till 12.00 midday, buffet available and ship facilities open, gaining half a day cruise...cannot be anywhere near as bad as getting on your ship late. Especially as late as this departure. To rub salt in the wounds if there is a 24 hr safety drill requirement why couldn’t this be done sometime the next day, disabled..old..children.

  10. We boarded the Britannia on the 18th May used parking4 cruises for the first time and was glad to drop the wife, son and luggage off in the drop off bays and then drop my car off in the car park opposite. No problem picking the car up after leaving the ship.  After the self disembarkation passengers got off we were told the start of main disembarkation would start we had a priority letter to get off but this was still 5.00PM..with the rest off the ship to get off yet. We, and I assume every cabin was issued with a letter for insurance purposes that said the 7hr 15 mins delay was due to mechanical reasons. I would think you would try your travel insurance first for reasonable expenses incurred travelling home etc. If the insurance company won’t honour all or part of your claim then pass it on to P&O.  I did ask several passengers about the delay on the previous cruise and they all said it was the weather, a strong headwind slowing the ship down.

  11. 4.00 AM this morning an engine overloaded and all non essential power was briefly diverted to the engines and bridge, shortly afterwards back to normal. Just now we were told due to arriving late our slot for docking has been put back till 2.30PM...the captain said the problem has been fixed....

  12. Hello what a beautiful evening....starboard side....calm and sunny, quite warm. Verified today docking will be 2.00 PM. Also our revised disembarkation details arrived also saying docking will be 2.00PM. On our cabin flyer main disembarkation will be between 03.45PM-05.30PM....A insurance letter from P&O said the 7hr15 min delay was due to a technical delay. The good thing is we can keep our cabins till 12.00 midday. Many thanks...Had a great trip, the ship and fjords amazing.

  13. Sorry the alarm was at 11 o’clock PM last night. When we got on the ship did not dock till 10 AM....18th May...we got on the ship at 1.30 PM.   The ship looks to be travelling slowly...could be my eyes.  We did have a helicopter

medical evacuation leaving Bergen which was very professional..5 minutes on the ship.

  14. Onboard Brittania now due In Southampton tomorrow just told by the captain we won’t be docking till two o’clock pm ....After an unscheduled emergency announcement eleven o’clock last night to the fire crew of a suspected fire on deck 4 zone ? I missed that. After half an hour he came on again and told us not to worry and the teams were stood down. Further today at 3 o’clock pm we were told about the arrival delay due to steam escaping in the engine room affecting component parts. This has slowed the ships speed causing the delay.     The wife even had the warm weather clothes out last night after hearing fire...

  15. I’m sure it says not to move the sofa yourself..health and safety...etc but in a suite (as against superior deluxe balcony) the sofa bed down won’t be a problem..even if it’s down all day...We are on the May 18th Britannia Fjords cruise..suite and are looking forward to the extra space we have a accessible cabin and will be making a video for other users as we could not find one. Can’t wait...

  16. We’re just back from the Azura 27th - 4th and stayed in a superior deluxe cabin. My wife and I with our adult disabled son, the sofa bed turns into a very sturdy bed suitable for adults. Me and my son are big lads and the sofa bed was no problem. My wife and I slept in the main double bed most nights then swopped for the sofa just for a change. Slept well in both beds. We did ask for something to cover the metal mechanism where you enter the bed. When the bed is made up in the evening till it’s put back to a sofa after you’ve left in the morning it does cut down access to the balcony.

  17. After posting I feel I have to also balance my posts with our cruise which was very good overall ( I will when tendering pay for a P&O early excursion to get of the ship early). Our trip was very good...Epicurean fantastic..Sindhu very good..Beach House fillet steak sizzler wonderful...all were very good.

On the first day on boarding we were offered the Epicurean for £19 each, great value with the quality of food and experience..my wife said best steak ever.

  18. Yes early half day cruise then explore the port when you get off the bus, which was nice, best of both worlds. I would do this if there’s a next time for the priority disembarkation. On the quayside there’s a little typical road train taking you around the town for 35 minutes a good and easy trip to get your bearings. Don’t know how much it costs other members will know.

  19. We arrived at St. Peter Port last Friday 3rd May on a beautiful morning anchoring on time after a short trip from Cherbourg.

we went to deck 16 to watch the tenders leave with excursions first of course, passengers second..we were told on the tannoy to wait in the public areas as there were 500 already waiting. After fourty minutes there were 550 waiting. Stay where you are. After a while I joined the queue to the Meridian restaurant tender ticket and waiting area at 11 o’clock. After waiting for a good while and seeing and hearing numerous people asking why it was so slow the answer given was the swell was making it difficult to board the tender (not when I got on later), also there was only 4 tenders running and we were lucky as ships don’t usually get in here. The fact was there was a large time lag between tenders.  Next this is for your own safety it was repeated...two tenders are coming...there alongside...afternoon excursions for these tenders priority....extra half hour, eventually arriving in port over 2 hours later at 1.10pm. Why they couldn’t put 6-8 tenders on I don’t know.   3-4 excursions...3-4 passengers. Everybody’s dealt fairly.
