As I advised in the MSC thread, the situation you are talking about is the result of a cruiser who, when advised far in advance of the cruise that that particular sailing had been chartered, refused to take the offers in the notice of a fare refund or moving the booking to a new date (OBC was also offered).

Instead, he insisted that he still be allowed to retain his booking and after MSC then offered an alternate cabin on the chartered sailing, escalated his demands and threats to the point that the cruise line notified him in writing that he would be arrested at the pier if he attempted to board the ship.

Somehow, all the facts of the  story are never included when the poster shows up to routinely bad mouth MSC.

More interesting is the fact that the poster continued to book numerous MSC Yacht Club and proceeds to harangue the on board crew about his grievance.

h - I did surmize that we did not have all of the information to make informed comments on this thread only on the speculation that the information presented was somewhat accurate, but not fully disclosed if known by the OP or not.

I don't mind at all talking about those subjects, but I certainly don't lead with one of those or initiate conversation with a stranger in the hopes of getting there.  I won't be terribly charmed, either, should someone open with such a subject or should I get the feeling that's why someone started talking to be in the first place.

... LOL, lead me not into temptation...

Thanks for the info. Funny we normally sail with other cruise lines and this has never happened.

tm - you mean that taxes and fees charged by foreign countries had changed and/or you were not charged the new fees OR you have never sailed when they did before you boarded?

I remember in 2021 when Bermuda raised its' fees and added a charge for C-19 approval, it was passed on to us and the C-19 fee we had to pay directly to the Government of Bermuda.

Additionally, I do not believe that there are any cruise lines who will bill and collect fees attributed to foreign governments assessments/changes and not pay them accordingly... a very BIG no no no, which would net them in whole sea of challenges... as such, not a money grab by X, they are only collecting to pay the piper, as it were.

Agree with @Bo1953   If you want split beds even though there’s a king, they will swap them out for you in the Iconic Suite. If you do find it’s a king, just tell the shoreside concierge before you board.  Or the butler once you’re on board.

Just saw a 9 night Ascent Iconic for $56k pp so they will do anything to make you happy.

I just did a mock booking on the celebrity Edge Alaska cruise for Sept,2024.With the all In on a regular Infinity veranda the price came to $5600.00, then another $950.00 for a refundable deposit. Celebrity has gone beserk. I love Celebrity, but not at these prices. They are $2000.00 higher than Princess AND Holland America for the same package, and I get a real balcony. I've been on Princess, and like their product. Haven't tried HAL yet. I realize  the Edge is a newer ship, but so is the Discovery Princess. In fact, it's newer than the Edge. There was no Celebrity alternative from Seattle in that time frame. All the itineraries were similar, except for Glacier Bay that Celebrity can't enter.

Let us know which sailing you will ultimately book...

Yes, I knew what they were asking.  All of the restaurants /diningrooms appreciate a heads up in advance.    On a cruise, I overheard a woman tell the manager of a restaurant she had a dietary restriction .   He asked her if she had contacted and advised Celebrity/RCL in advance, before boarding,  as he had not been informed.   She had not.    He explained Advance notice gives them time to prepare and make necessary adjustments and precautions, but would do his best to accommodate her but her choices maybe limited

I can agree with this, yet the lack of accommodation is usually limited to the first night of dining service...

Once known by staff, subsequent dining opportunities will be fine...

  7. A good place to start is here at the top of the front page of this forum.

I recommend reading reviews from the last year or so to get a feel as to what passengers thought and etc....

Do you really want a 'partial view' cabin or was that a mis-type, if you really want a partial view, then what does it matter what the view is of???

as a precaution contact Celebrity ahead of time.   Call    Verbally communicate your needs. There is also a Medical form online that goes to RCCL and sent to ship. On that form, scroll down and you will see Dietary needs.  Submit that.  On embarkation, make sure you connect with the DR Mgrs.  They appreciate advance notice.

I am anaphylactic to a very common food.    I have never had an issue.       Each evening, you can ask for the next days lunch and dinner  menu in MDR or Luminae   In Blu, it is for next day dinner but they will provide you with MDR  next day lunch menu if asked

I have found Celebrity will do their very best to accommodate. But showing up at meal time and requesting is more difficult for staff

Actually, the OP was inquiring about the Specialty Restaurants, I suspect that they already know that the MDR's can and will accommodate, yet that does not make your comments any less informative.

  9. I Am beginning to think that those who are "requesting" a drink list and those who have done 'some' research do not drink very much or often or differently.... especially on Celebrity cruises.

The reason I say this is, most of us know and understand that there are so many different drinks that can be made AND that X has a list at many bars of a few of these drinks that are available.

Hopefully the bartenders either ask or swipe your seapass first to determine which package you have and uses the appropriate liquor, unless we ask for a specific liquor not on our package and hopefully the bartender will advise of the upcharge...

Are there a few really 'premium' mixed drinks available? Sure thing and those who are asking for the list will not get to see that list, for the most part as they are mixed at only a few select bars and those in the know know where to go to get them... so do not worry about that level.

I recommend, if there are some unknown 'special' drinks anyone wants, research by doing an internet search on various mixed or frozen drinks on the types or styles we like...

Also, there was a recent thread about 'mixed' drinks and a list was uploaded of many different drinks by type of alcohol that one can consider.

Through an internet search one can 'possibly' find a few recent drink menus showing mixed drinks available at that time and possibly now.

The one place where it may not be possible to get something on the Classic Package is at the Martini Bar...

    Cheers and bon voyage

If someone approached me as I was coming or going from my cabin asking me about me how booked, got my cabin or something similar I would think they were prying and would probably say something like  That’s really none of your business and walk off.

Then you will have to call Security as they started stalking you until they got the info out of you!!!

By that time one would be more than happy to move cabins to get away.... or have them moved! LOL

There are four topics I'm VERY reluctant to talk about with others I don't know on any ship:

    • Politics
    • Religion
    • Sex
    • Money

Discussing the wheres and hows of other people's bookings seems to stray into at least one of the above.

Not reluctant here about those topics at all...  LOL

As for the list, I can see how it can be in all four (4) in one way or another...

  12. Personally, I see NO value in engaging about bookings with anyone other than the point of reservation, X, Guest Relations and/or The Hotel Manager.

I trust a resolution to everyone's satisfaction can be achieved, yet this one will not bring any closure and possibly open up additional can of worms and further hard feelings, unless one wants to ask (or demand) the new occupants to trade cabins with the original booker???

Again, IMO, something which needs to be addressed to those who can really assist in some sort of resolution/compensation regardless of what it will or may be.

  13. As far as I know, Blue Chip is a very different entity from X, is it not?

If in fact this is true, calling X would not be the correct contact point, only BCC who books rooms.

As such, it appears that you have gripes with two (2) entities, BCC on how they treated you when calling in and X for their reduction and changes in service...

A double whammy I would say...

  14. The hard answer is: no one here can say if it does or if does not.

We do not know how your TA booked the cabins to begin with.

The easy answer is: AI is possibly included as Aqua class always has it included without anyway to purchase a sailing without in that class of cabins.

The best answer includes: request a copy of your invoice to see what the inclusions are OR call back and ask to speak with a manager for the answer AND re-confirm in writing from the TA...

Did they just... updated the website?

Like their offering, it got worse!

Now if I want to go in and proactively de-select pre-paid Gratuities, it will tell me I'm still owing them money because my cruise is now 200 more expensive somehow.

    image.thumb.png.d99fd32a8063e8a1b6cf081d5131db38.png

why are they deducting money from my promotional savings ??

Anyone know what's going on.... ?

    It's total software gore

l19 just call and ask for an official invoice with the correct info on it...

Then again when you are going in to make changes it will update to whatever the current pricing is... as such, better to call and when all is updated, you will receive a corrected invoice to verify all is correct..

At that point if it is not, then you will be able to get a corrected invoice...

Bo, I have enjoyed reading many of your always thoughtful posts.

We carry several test kits with us. Fortunately we have not needed to use them while on board.

We were extremely impressed with the crew's attention to cleaning surfaces, including hand rails on the stairways and "touch" surfaces both outside and inside elevators on Eclipse last December.

It is good to know that like us, you obviously care about the health of everyone on the ship!

I hope you and your traveling companions do not need to use the test kits and have a wonderful cruise!

b1 -  you are quite generous with the compliments...

There are 13 of us going on this sailing, all high school friends of My spouse.

Quite a few of us have sailed together before and had a great time.

Since I Am the "ring leader" of this group I want to make sure that everyone arrives and departs in good health... one has not been vaccinated and I never asked who, but need to be sure they are as safe as I can make it for them...

As I told a few friends, the planning for this sailing was like trying to corral a group of feral cats!!! LOL... But it has been fun, for sure.

Where and when is your next sailing?

    In health and bon voyage
