They usually have a small buffet in the MDR too.  You can choose between buffet, ordering from the menu, or both.

Yay! That's my favorite! I  like to get some things off buffet, and order my pancakes/waffles from menu, so they're super fresh and steamy. 🙂 Do you know if we'll get lobster on our 5 day? I don't think so, but maybe you know for sure...?

Guys Burgers, Guys Pig and Anchor BBQ, Blue Iguana Cantina, Pizza, and Pasta Bar are all free. Great alternative choices to the buffet. Those that think Carnival’s buffet is great have obviously never eaten at the buffets on RCCL and NCL. On our last NCL Cruise, the buffet encompassed a HUGE area, with many different stations. We have gotten salad on Carnival and gone to the (separate) Deli, which is awesome, but that short little area of food, after waiting in a long line, was really disappointing to us. Perhaps I just missed something with their buffet. I will explore it further on my B2B on the Magic next year. I’m willing to give it an extra try. But we absolutely loved everything else about Carnival, that we switched back to booking only Carnival cruises. I just wish they’d redesign their buffet on their newer ships. Perhaps people cruising the brand new ships can report back to us all on how the buffet is on those ships.

Agree with all this. Loved NCL food the best, next RCCL, and last Carnival. MDR is only really good food on Carnival we have found. (Guys burgers is just ok, I mean, it's a hamburger, so...I don't get the hype really) One of our very favorite things about cruising is the whole dining experience in the MDR, something we really never do except on cruises. We love food and trying new things! Curious, being new to cruising, why do you want to be exclusive to Carnival? The reason I'm asking is because having only done 4 (NCL Dawn 2/18, CCL Fantasy 8/18, RCCL Vision 12/18 and RCCL Rhapsody 2/19) the jury's still out for us, and since we did 4 our first year, having gone bonkers over cruising, plan on moving to Florida in 2 years when hubby retires simply so we can drive to ports and go at a moments notice if we get a great last minute deal, etc. We'd probably do better sticking with a certain line for perks/level up status, but don't want to miss out on what another line might offer, so.... figured you could give me some insight? At least  I can weigh your opinion as I'm always looking for info. Thanks!!

There really isn't much to do close to the port, other than shop and eat/drink.

Every excursion I know of will take you a fair distance out of the city.  There aren't even any usable beaches close.

When we don't want to spend the whole day on an excursion we've found a delightful coffee/chocolate shop close to the pier that's good for souvenir shopping.  Also, if you like beer, Belize bottles a local one, Belikin, that is really good.  My Belize mantra is, "Sit on the pier drinking Belikin beer."

We were thinking about doing the same thing. What are avg beer prices so we know how much $$ we need? Thanks!

  4. We went to Tulum back in February booked through NCCL. We had a great time and enjoyed it. It is absolutely beautiful looking over the cliffs at the site. A lot to see. Worth the trip. Bus ride 1 1/2 hrs, but informative and interesting tour guide tells you all about Mayan culture and points out landmarks along the way, so not wasted time by any means.

  5. Just went there last week. Had an awesome time! Really good food, order all you want of anything. Great drinks too. Hubby loves the Dirty Monkey frozen cocktail. Well worth the $, and I don't even drink and still have a ball every time.

The pegboard looks fab! Might try a little of each of your ideas with pictures and a ship ornament...want it to be special, it will be my daughters first cruise so I can’t wait to see her face Christmas morning...exciting!

What about a pink sparkly lanyard, or one with unicorns or whatever she loves, with the cruise ship/date in holder, and put it in her stocking?

Tutti salad is one of my favorite things to eat!  For those of you who haven’t tried it, give it a try at lunch in the MDR on your next cruise.   Got my brother and sister in law to try it for the first time on our last cruise and they had it every day after that.

Can you tell me what's in it? I'm wondering if it's something I'd like....

  8. Loving your blog!  We will be on her in 2 weeks (17 days to be exact 🙂 ) This is our 1st Christmas cruise as we are now "empty nesters" and rather than travel around to scattered family and be exhausted, we chose to go on a cruise! Your pictures and ongoing adventures are making me SO excited to be there myself!! Thank you for doing such a wonderful job with all the menu pics and food.  I love that part most of all, as we all know cruise calories don't count.  Have the time of your life. I will too.

  9. When I read the recommendations on this forum I am always amazed at the different tastes people have. My wife and I went to Nachi Cocom the last time we were in Cozumel and would not go back. Others like it, so to each his own.:)

I would be grateful if you could share more w/ me as to why. I was looking at maybe booking for December, instead of Mr Sanchos, which we love, but thought we might try something new. Hubs would be happy as a clam going to Sanchos every time. Any insight would be helpful. We like a little lively atmosphere, and AI, we are a couple in our early 50's, btw.

  10. Hi all! Thinking of doing Krazy Lobster in Costa Maya, but I have a few questions.

1.) How do I get there? How do I get back to the ship?

2.) About how much is a lobster? Do I have to pay in pesos or are US dollars ok?

3.) Does anyone know how much the snorkeling trip is from there?

4.) If anyone's gone recently, how's the seaweed situation?

    5.) Sand lice?

6.) Is it true that they'll give you a free margarita? Is it a sample size or something? If so, how much for a real one?

7.) Anything else I should know?

Thank you all so much! Love this forum!

We LOVE it there! Def recommend it. I think it was $20 for lobster, but we didn't get it because there were so many other things we wanted. Very cheap prices, btw. $3/guac, $8 for plate FULL of shrimp tacos, at least 12 shrimp on each taco times 3, hubby got steak fajitas, loved them, too much to finish though! $1 Corona minis/bucket $5....just can't beat it! US $$ are accepted....seaweed not noticable, free margaritas are little dixie cups, full size drinks are like less than $5...you should go. It's way cheaper than Tropicante.

  11. We cruise with no kids, I haven't heard about crowds, seems the water park would attract huge crowds! Were there a lot of kids?

Our priorities is a nice day at beach, nice pool option, good food and drinks, but not interested in lots of kids around! No negative meant, its just we're past that phase of life!

I get it....we are also at that phase of life (ahhhhhhh....<3) You'd prob like Nachi Cocom, nothing for kids, AI, nice quiet beach area, totally inexpensive ($55/pp, I think) We love Mr. Sanchos, because it's a livelier crowd, but both are nice for couples wanting just an awesome worry free beach day with swim up pool bars, hammocks, pina colada, sun and sand.
